I have been a fan of this place since they were just a cart that you can find in random parking lots around Hampton Roads. I've visited the Twisted Sisters cupcake truck several times over the years, but this was my first time stepping into their brick-and-mortar location -- and it did not disappoint! The shop is absolutely adorable inside. The display case was full of the cutest treats, and the young lady working that day was so warm and welcoming. What really caught my eye was the variety -- from classic cupcakes to dog treats (yes, pup-friendly goodies!) and even custom dog birthday cakes. Love that they include our four-legged family members. side note doggies have to sit in the car not welcomed inside, bonus they offer goodies for the doggies. I came specifically for the Caramel Latte cupcake with espresso frosting, which is part of their rotating menu and only available through the end of June. The cupcake was incredibly moist and the espresso flavor in the frosting came through beautifully -- rich but not overpowering. I honestly should've bought two! A special shoutout for their charity cupcakes -- $1 from each goes to the Children's Hospital. Supporting a local business and a good cause? That's a win-win. I went to Twisted Sister's for some cupcakes, but the cookies caught my eye. I got the red velvet, plain Jane, and lemon cupcakes and I got the sweet and salty, brookie, and chocolate chip cookies. It's about $12 for 6 cookies or $2.25 a piece. Some of their cupcakes are really good, but I just wasn't a fan of the red velvet cupcake today. I wish the frosting was cream cheese based, but it was more of a buttercream. It was still ok though. My favorite was the cookies. The chocolate chip and brookie were yummy, but the sweet and salty was my top pick. It has potato chips, pretzels, and other yummy flavors. They go fast so I'm lucky when I can snag one. The ladies who work there are friendly and the store is always clean. They sell cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts. You can also order online. Oooo nothing has changed in 7 years. They are still like I remember. The cake is always moist and the icing makes my sweet tooth do a little dance. I love their chocolate cake options. They had regulars that always happen on a daily basis. They also have a few flavors that are featured every month and change every month. They have a cupcake truck that goes around certain areas in the VA Beach and Norfolk area. I do wish once a month or something like that, that they come across the water. I highly recommend placing an order ahead of time. Their store front is cute and easy to get to the staff were so friendly they could describe the cupcakes very well to me. we went to the twisted sisters store on virginia beach blvd. today, valentine's day 2026. we purchased a 12 pack of cupcakes for a valentine's day treat. we spent nearly $50.00 for 12 dry, stale and old cupcakes. we are extremely disappointed, as we've had cupcakes for birthdays from here before. in this economy, for stale, crumbling cupcakes (the dubai cupcake was filled with sawdust-like kataifi instead of pistachio butter), you're better off spending the $50.00 at crumbl. we will not be recommending twisted sisters anymore, nor will we be returning. read more

I tried out the pumpkin caramel to get in the fall mood and the buttercream was delicious! The cupcake was also very moist. Their storefront location is cutely decorated and service was friendly. For my birthday, my husband went all the way to Twisted Sister Cupcakes and Sugar Shack Cafe to get my birthday treats during his lunch break to bring home later that evening. He also cooked my birthday feast (I know, I'm a lucky gal!) When we were stationed here the first time, Twisted Sisters would come around with their cake mobile at my old employment during our lunch hour. My colleagues and I would run out like kids and ice cream trucks LOL. It's nice to see that they are still around and thriving! My husband came home with quite a heavy box of a dozen cupcakes, filled to the brim. The cupcake box fits juuuuuuust right (although the fondant horn on the Unicorn did push it over the edge and the unicorn ones did get a tad smooshed). The cupcakes were: Vanilla Bean or is it Birthday Cake? Death by Chocolate Red Velvet Unicorn Oreo Explosion Peanut Butter Brownie These cupcakes are a 1:1 ration of cake and icing. Although I am more of a cake girl, rather than icing girl, I must admit, the icing wasn't that bad! IMO, this is definitely one of those cupcakes where you should make the cupcake sammie (cut off the bottom half of the cake and place it on top of the icing). The cake was pretty dense, but airy, also moist and the icing was very fluffy. My fave was the one on the top left corner (see pic). It almost looked like there were two tiny donuts on top, but really it's a ball of icing, coated in ganache on a vanilla cake. The Oreo Explosion comes a close second and the Red Velvet was great too. I LOVE that it's not a cream cheese frosting! Nothing against cream cheese frosting, just don't think it has to automatically be paired with red velvet, ya know? Overall, great alternative to a whole cake. It was a nice birthday treat! As a Buttercream snob, Twisted Sister has become my fav go to gotta get a fix shop! Even sent hubby on a birthday cake quest and it was perfect! In case you don't know, they do cakes too! It was rich, dense and decadent. Admittedly, not for everyone but for me and my family, it almost replaces our great Aunt's chocolate cake...almost. After leaving Iggles from a great lunch, my girlfriend and I headed here to check out some desserts to take home with us. But first, I'll run some brief history with Twisted Sisters. The very first time I ran into TS was at the Norfolk Chocolate Festival at The Scope where their food truck was present. Their main items were filled cupcakes. And after that, it was at summer festivals at Town Point Park. And lastly, their previous location in Virginia Beach where I used a Groupon. With every visit, I was completely satisfied with what they offered. Each cupcake tasted great and you definitely can't go wrong with fillings. On this particular visit, my plan was to buy some filled cupcakes but decided to buy other items. One was the Brookie which is half chocolate chip, half brownie cookie. The other was a bacon crack brownie which is a chocolate brownie topped with ganache, whiskey flavored marshmallow, caramel and candied bacon. Both items were truly worth it. The cookie with both combinations was soft and flavorful. You could probaby top it with a scoop of ice cream if you prefer. And the brownie.....truly to die for. The bakers here are as sweet as their baked goods, always pleasant every time I come here. They have a variety of different cupcake flavors. My absolute favorite is the mermaid cupcake, which also benefits CHKD. I just love that! At $5 a cupcake, they're a little pricey but worth it. Best choice ever because every cupcake tasted delicious. I especially like their minis because it's not too overwhelming and it gives you the chance to try multiple flavors. I've tried pretty much every flavor they've had and I think they do a great job with them, their cake is the perfect level of moist, and my favorite part, the buttercream icing is always delicious!! I went to their store in Virginia Beach once and it's a cute bakery with some room for seating but best to take orders to go. Their online website also allows you to order days in advance if you're planning for a party so that's very convenient. We stumbled upon this place as we were driving down Virginia Beach Boulevard one afternoon. We decided to treat ourselves to a cupcake and picked two flavors to try -- Key lime cheesecake and Oreo. I really enjoyed the Key lime cheesecake, it seemed appropriate for the season. It was a given my husband would pick Oreo (he picks Oreo everything). He liked the Oreo, but I thought the Key Lime was way better and not something I could pick up anywhere, especially since it incorporated a cheesecake component. Cute little shop off Virginia Beach Blvd. I have been following them on Facebook for quite some time. I tried making it in for some Halloween themed cupcakes but I was working crazy hours. I finally made it in on a day off and was pleasantly surprised. They are in a strip mall and I had no problem parking. Walking in, I was welcomed by the sweet smell of cupcakes and icing. Since it was my first time, I needed a moment to look around and browse each masterpiece. I finally decided on 2 flavors since it was just me eating them, I didn't want to be on a sugar overload! I picked Bart Simpson because "don't lay a finger on MY butterfinger!" And I love wedding cake flavor, the traditional almond one. It almost was like choosing Yin and Yang since one was white and the other dark! I also got pupcakes for my fur babies because they deserve THE BEST!! I tried the BART Simpson one was and it was amazing!! It was fluffy (not dense like a muffin) and so good. I had to wait some time in between eating them but the Wedding cake one brought me back to my wedding day, since that is the flavor I chose. I will definitely be back when my cupcake craving hits. I first visited this business several years ago, when it was on Princess Anne Road near the courthouse with a different owner. I don't know how many owners have passed through since then, but somehow, the business has managed to maintain its integrity for delicious baked treats over time. In the last year, though, I've visited more than I ever have. I'd like to blame it on stress but the fact everything is so tasty and there are so many different choices doesn't help! While cupcakes are their specialty, they also do all sorts of cakes--wedding, custom, and ones for their case--as well as a variety of cookies and bars. I truly appreciate the effort they put into making the tops of their cupcakes not only beautiful but more unique by using a variety of toppings on their frostings. Candies, fruits, sauces, chocolates, nuts, sprinkles and cookies can all be found as toppers. They usually have vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cakes of varying sizes in their case for those of us who wait until the last minute, and I can attest to these being delicious as well.
