I honestly can't even believe they got me what I needed in time because I placed the order very late (that's on me and my poor planning skills). They created EXACTLY what I asked for and the birthday recipient was thrilled! So I stopped in here looking for a quick sugar high after getting my hair done. On Saturdays between 3-4 everything in the bakery is 50% off so I opted to get four cupcakes because all the chocolate covered bacon was gone ....insert sad face here. I got a lemon, Red Velvet, Coconut and banana pudding. The cake itself was very moist and perfectly baked. The red velvet was hands down my favorite. However, the banana pudding came in at a close second! What REALLY stood out to me was the woman behind the counter... her personality and eagerness to please her customers meant a lot to me.. ...It was 30mins before closing and while I was getting my cupcakes somehow banana pudding was bought up. She said "I can make you a cupcake real quick if u want" I was like ok awesome thank youuuu! She was so happy to do it and I was just amazed at how she would go out of her way to do this for me. Every Saturday after 3 p.m. everything in the cases is 50 % off! I am here today enjoying creamy cupcakes and delicious coffee. I am listening in on a bride purchasing her wedding cakes. Clair has a great idea about presenting grooms cake right beside the 5 tier wedding cake. Why not, it is 2014 and he should be able to order a cake in his favorite flavor with a decorative Harley Davidson on top of it! The owner is so knowledgable about all things wedding. It sounds like she is giving them great advice for cost cutting with decorations. I come for the treats and cakes. Today it is packed with people looking for a sugary high. I visited here last Friday night in hopes of finding a yummy bakery to make my baby's birthday cake. I wanted to try somewhere new, but I guess I should stick to where I'm the happiest. Needless to say, I will not purchase the birthday cake from here :( I so wanted to love this place, but the presentation and the cupcakes we tried - no bueno. I brought the lemon cake with lemon icing and the lemon almond cake with white icing. Now I don't know if the cupcakes were made earlier that day, but they both lacked flavor. When I walked into the bakery, I did catch a sniff of any aromas. At this point, I already had my brow raised. Hmmmmm... My daughter thought the lemon almond cake was ok, but she didn't love it. I didn't care for either. The bakery is located in not so good location, so I imagine they get their business from word of mouth. The bakery is located near: a neighborhood, a convenience store, Papa John's - so yeah...not a high traffic area for sales. Now the blvd. definitely stays busy, so you make get a glimpse of the store front if you are stopped at the red light. Nevertheless, go at your own risk. Have fun :) read more

SilverSpoon Bakery made our wedding cake. Their consultation was telephonic due to the pandemic. We sent over multiple inspiration cake designs and SilverSpoon told us they could do them all with no problem. We went with the most complex fondant design, and SilverSpoon is so talented that they could replicate it in buttercream! Don't get me started on the flavor and moistness of the cake. It was so delicious during the wedding that people were going back for thirds! We barely were able to save the anniversary layer of the cake since so many people wanted more cake. And their prices were very affordable! We highly recommend SilverSpoon Bakery if you need a wedding cake! read more

If I could give this bakery "0" stars I would! I'm so upset and perhaps I shouldn't write this review being upset...but, too late! My fiancé has been going above and beyond to make my birthday special...today (10/28) is my birthday. He went to our favorite bakery but, unfortunately, they suddenly closed. Moving forward... He found another place and went in and placed an order yesterday, 10/27, for a red velvet cake and almond butter cupcakes. He was told that his order would be ready tomorrow, 10/28. He asked if it would be a problem and the woman told him no. He stated that he wanted to bring his fiancé (me) in and surprise her. The woman wrote down his order and told him to come in the next day - Oct 28th at 10:15am. He asked if he needed a receipt or number or anything and she said no. She wrote his order down. He was so excited...Everything was set! I woke up and he presented me with sooooooooo many surprises!! So on to my next surprise...the cupcakes and cake!! But.... We arrived and he was very bubbly and a little giddy :). We walk in and a different young lady was at the counter. She asked his name and proceeded to look for the order. But...no order :(. We were standing there smiling...he was very excited!! Pleasing me and making me happy brings him joy. For me, the effort that he took to plan every detail of my day brought me happiness. HOWEVER....THERE WAS NO ORDER!! THE WOMAN WHO TOOK THE ORDER OBVIOUSLY DID NOT SUMNIT IT!!! NO ONE NEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT!! NO CAKE! NO CUPCAKES!!! NO APOLOGY!!! AND A VERY UPSET FIANCÉ!!!! The woman didn't even apologize!!!! We do our best to support minority businesses. There's a sense of pride and honor when businesses demonstrate good character, business ethic, good customer service, honesty, and sincerity, to mention a few. It's also a joy to clients and to the community...we should be able to be proud of the establishments on our own turf. ESPECIALLY BLACK OWNED BUSINESS. However, the Silver Spoon failed in all areas. Very sad. This may have been a blessing in disguise. Our original bakery..."The Cake Place" set the bar high!! On to finding another bakery...we are going to Scratch Bakery in Hampton! Ordered Coconut Custard and Chocolate Pecan Pies at Thanksgiving For Christmas. Had a Time set to pick pies Up. Was there to pick them up and 2 Hours Later they were Ready! That's not the worst! The Pies Were the Worst we ever Had! What a Disappointment At 15$ a Pie! It's not the price But We Actually Threw the pies Away! Went to Kroger and Bought pies For 7$ apiece And 10 times Better! My family absolutely LOVES this place. The cakes, desserts and cupcakes are all fab!! I first found this place a few years ago. I would stop by every time I was in town to grab a sweet treat. OK so when it was time to plan my wedding, there was no doubt that I would be using Silver Spoon to make it. My cake was not only Gorgeous but it was delicious!! We actually ended up with NO leftovers. People normally get stuck with cake. She also made my husbands groom cake which she did an awesome job designing. A few years later when we had our 1st daughter CiCi also made her 1st birthday cake. It turned out beautiful and of course it taste great. The cakes are always moist, never crumbly. The icing is always good. I love her butter-cream. My favorite is her strawberry cake and also the fresh pineapple filling that can be ordered for a cake which is divine between a 2 layer almond cake. You cant go wrong with anything you try here. My only complain is the parking...ehhh..it can be tricky but so worth the hassle to get to her cake!!! read more

I was looking for cupcakes yesterday and found this shop on maps. I went in and purchased 6 cupcakes of various flavors. I am delightfully surprised at how amazing these cupcakes are. They aren't knock me over sweet, and they are SUPER moist. I would imagine her cakes are just as delicious. I HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking for amazing cupcakes. (Got that would have paid it if asked) They didn't tell my friend this when she was buying her birthday cake (3weeks before cupcake pickup) and put in the order for 24 cupcakes. Cake was great which is why we were getting cupcakes for her baby shower and I was planning an order for me also. I went in with her to pick up the cupcakes and the customer service was horrible they blamed her for the no deposit when they never ask for it nor called or asked for it. The lady who we spoke to said they never not ask for a deposit (ok got that but it happened this time) no apologies nothing to try and make it right nothing! Today is her baby shower day. They had her number on the order but never even called to ask for a deposit. They did call about her cake order so it's not like they didn't have it. We will NOT be coming back nor will anyone else we now. Horrible experience. By the way close farm fresh was awesome and helped us with amazing customer service. read more

Paid about $80 for a cake that would have cost $30 at Walmart. When I went in at 3:25 for 3:30 pick-up and was greeted with "Its not 3:30 yet." They then proceeded to JUST THEN start frosting and piping the cake. 15 minutes pass by, and it turns out she frosted the cake she was supposed to frost for the lady right next to me who was also supposed to get her cake 15 minutes ago at that point. They then tell me they have to scrape the icing off of that cake and peel of the decal to put on the correct cake, then go back and try and fix the other lady's cake. And let me tell you, the piping work and decoration on the cake from Walmart would have been extremely better done. I don't know how there's so many good reviews, I got misled into going here. Don't make my mistake too, don't waste your money here. read more

Today is my birthday and my wife ordered a cake for the occasion on Thursday, August 7 to be picked up on Tuesday, August 12. She arrived at the bakery on August 12 to pick up the cake and was told they didn't have a record of the cake being ordered. After checking their records they discovered the order had been placed on August 7 but they never baked the cake. She explained to them again that it was for a birthday asked if there was another cake for the evening's celebration. She was told there was nothing they could do and it was against their policy to take same day orders, even though they acknowledged they received the order 5 days earlier. It's a shame that they would not be more accommodating especially after realizing it was their mistake and oversight. There was no attempt on their part to correct the error and keep a customer. I just love Silver Spoon Bakery! I've been coming here for quite some time now and everything that I have gotten was delicious. I have tried the peanut butter cookiessssssssssss (see me 'about me' section and you'll learn that I love peanut butter) they are soooooooo good, just the perfect combination of sweet with a hint of salt and SOMETIMES they'll have peanut butter cookies half dipped in MILK CHOCOLATE. Yes, shut your mouth. I also am in serious love with the Neiman Marcus bars, the hot mess cake and the CHOCOLATE DREAM IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!!!!!!! Though I feel that the food is 5 stars - the service can be hit or miss depending on who is working that day, so I'm taking a star off for that. If you're in Portsmouth, do stop in and check them out. read more

DELICIOUS. Why haven't more people reviewed this place? My family is obsessed with the "Sugar Babies" from here--baby pound cakes covered in cinnamon and sugar. They were a huge hit at my bridal shower. The cupcakes here are giant, and very dense--so be prepared. It's obvious that Silver Spoon uses real butter, which is a huge deal to me! So, I stopped in here this past Saturday for a piece of that awesome almond pound cake. It was as awesome as it was before. However, while I was waiting to place my request, the clerk was assisting a lady picking up a previously ordered 1/4 sheet cake for a baby's christening on Sunday, It took a few minutes for me to realize that she couldn't find it. Nor could she find the original order, She continued to look in places and finally she says to the lady, I don't have your cake. I can't find your order. The lady called the mother of the child being christened and the clerk asked to speak with her. She explained that the cake wasn't ready, the order had obviously been misplaced but that she did remember her coming in and paying for it. She re took the cake order and told her they'd try to have it ready by close of business. If not, she would deliver it to the church for the celebration. The lady on the phone was very pleasant and so was the clerk. I write this review simply because there are several other reviews with lost orders. It seems to happen quite often here. This, however, was handled most professionally for the oversight. read more

I'm a cake connoisseur this place is unethical on tues they have $2 cupcakes I notice on multiple occasions that on this day they make a replica of there original cupcakes that they normally sell and replace the ingredients with that $1 box cake mixture and icing. Silver Spoon Bakery does not alway use gourmet ingredients it's a hit or miss... they can be so delicious on one day but on others specially tues they switch up the ingredients but the look is the same. The cupcakes look good like it's made by an experienced baker but it taste like a $1 cake box mixture and icing that you make at home with kids. Not cool! Shame on you. Smh. read more

However when i placed the cake order and told them everything i wanted i got talk out of using different colors of fondant because it would colors people m's teeth that color.
