From the moment we walked in we knew it would be a great experience. The shop was very clean and you could smell how clean it was. My friends and I came in for piercings and the owner's son had amazing customer service. He was thorough, friendly and answered all of our questions. If you're getting a tattoo I would definitely say make an appointment. We got there around 1:30 and they were booked until 5 which is honestly still not bad. We loved absolutely everything about the experience except for the fact that ear piercing was worked around tattoo appointments. We weren't able to schedule an appointment at all for ear piercing for our 5 year old, so we showed up and waited for the artist to fit us in between tattoos, which for us was an hour and a half. That's a long time to sit still for a 5 year old, and honestly just bad business in the age of Covid where young children who aren't able to be vaccinated are forced to sit in one area around many other people. I do appreciate the business requires masks. I just wish there was a system in place for small children getting quality piercings and willing to pay (and tip) much more than at Claire's. I will also say, the piercing was done very skillfully and we have had no issues with infection 3 weeks later. read more

I went to this shop for a sporadic piercing (which worked out because it is walk in only for piercings) and they told me I would be with a woman named Alex. She was very nice but not very personable and seemed rushed. She said she was busy that day (several people were waiting for piercings and she was the only piercer) but it felt sort of like an assembly line rather than a body mod service. Her piercing tray was not covered in disinfectant then topped with plastic like I have typically seen but instead was an open metal tray with a disposable pad she kept to separate the tools from the pan itself. Not very clean in my opinion. I got an inverted vertical labret (aka the Ashley piercing) and she told me it was called an angel's kiss. That is an entirely different piercing. Red flag. After she did the piercing she put the jewelry in and it felt really tight- as if there wasn't room to swell, which new piercings do! She assured me it was plenty long. I returned after a week with discomfort and she insisted in putting in this bulky plastic jewelry with two balls on either side instead of a flatback. It was super uncomfortable and I couldnt speak so I asked for a flatback with a ball on one end- similar to the original jewelry but with a longer bar (mine was the standard 10 mm). The next length they had was twice the size (20 mm!!!) and stuck out like crazy but at least it gave my lip room to swell. So overall I think Alex needs to work on her social skills along with her knowledge of piercings and how different anatomy can be crucial to the healing etc. If I didnt have knowledge on piercings I would have left the first bar in and it couldve been way worse and unsafe. Its never good when you have to educate the professional as a client. The shop itself should make sure their piercers are well trained and better equipped with proper jewelry for all body types. I would suggest a different piercer honestly, and I only gave 2 stars bc the rest of the staff was pleasant and professional. Alex also suggested salt water soaks were "bad" for piercings when really...that has always been the standard in other settings in my experience. Who knows, maybe new research has proven salt water to be harmful but I have always used it in addition to a saline rinse and it wases discomfort. I dont know man...proceed with caution, this can be dangerous if not handled properly. read more

Had a tattoo done by Daniel in 2019. What a mistake. Heavy handed. Didn't listen to inspiration spent the entire on his phone so the experience took forever. Spent over 2K on the only tattoo I've ever wanted (and am actively pursuing getting removed.) maybe the other artists were good but he was trash. Put a review on the website owner only want to talk about cost. Cost isn't the issue. The product and service was the issue. AGAIN cost isn't the issue. It was the crap tattoo. The artist who didn't listen and the unprofessional behavior. I have never asked for a refund. I'm warning people away from Daniel and getting the craptoo removed. Good try though. read more

This is my favorite tattoo shop in San Antonio. My first visit was circa 2012 at their first location off Pleasanton Rd. Since then, I have had the pleasure of watching this business grow into what it is today. There are lots of tattoo shops in SA, but here's why Twisted is superior IMO: 1. The shop is clean as a whistle. You can smell the green soap when you walk in, which is always a good sign. 2. The owners, James & Denise, are extremely friendly and family oriented. They take great pride in this business and it shows! They love what they do and they're damn good at it. 3. They can do basically any style of tattoo (or piercing!!!) Check out their Instagram and/or Facebook and you'll see. You can also stop by and check out their flash & portfolios. I have not seen anyone leave this shop with a bad tattoo, including myself... I have had 2 script tattoos, a cover up, a sparrow, and all of my finger tattoos done here. They are all beautiful and have stayed looking great over the years. 4. Pricing is great. Like amazingly affordable. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram and you'll see that they have deals quite often. For example, this month (June 2018) They are doing forget-me-not flowers for $50 and all proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association. They give discounts to military, firemen, and college students too. How often is it that most tattoo shops offer a deal like that? Especially one that is to raise money for charity.... 5. They have free snacks and water for clients! 6. They have a TV, pool table, and even a kids' play area. It's well lit inside, not unfriendly or intimidating like many other shops I've been to. 7. They sell tattoo equipment, body jewelry, **VAPE JUICE FOR $3** and even Twisted merch. Again, great prices. 8. All artists and front desk staff are extremely friendly. Daniel did my finger tattoos and he was patient with my indecisive ass. Really cool dude. He's funny and charismatic. I know the other artists are equally pleasant to work with. They are serious here about who they hire. No drugs, no drama...just good vibes and talent all around. For me, the best thing about Twisted is their story. It's amazing to see how far they've come as a shop. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I've explored tattoo shops in SA and in my opinion, Twisted is the best. Go check it out, y'all. Not saying that this is a bad tattoo shop. But try not to do business with Yoma. First she tried to blow me off when asking her "professional" opinion on a coverup. Which she never planned on doing anyway. After SHE invited me to drive in from Austin (that's time, gas, and money itself). She then took me for a "vic", and charged me a $50 deposit for coverup artist rendering. Which she informed me was non-refundable, "IF" I didn't have her do my tattoo. But would be applied to the final cost of the tattoo. This after talking in "code" with the receptionist on whether or not to charge me $100 or $50. I understood what you two said ;-). But I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. I guess she wanted to rob me lightly. She then proceeded to put me off more. Finally after a few DMs, she sent me a half effort sketch. To cover her obligation to keep my $50. Then she went radio silent. No DMs. No text. Now notice. I didn't cuss. Cuss at her. Or call her names. I'm a fair person, who just wanted to commemorate my mom, who I just lost in July. But bad business is bad business. And I have receipts. read more

Everyone was super nice. Unfortunately they pierced me with a hoop for my nose pierced. I cleaned it like my piercer told me. It got infected. I went another shop and they were shocked they even allowed a hoop for a fresh piercing. Not only was it a hoop, it had no backing so it would constantly fall out and would be irritated. The new piercer had to drain it and put a stud in. Still hoping it heals correctly but either way I will most likely be stuck with a scar on my nose. read more
