My absolute favorite donuts! I usually get Twister's from a coffee shop once a week early in the day when they are freshest and most delicious. I won't even eat donuts from the large grocery chains anymore. I finally went and shopped at the main Olympia store and met the owner. Remember the scene in Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" where the man is sentenced to death by being chased by a bunch of naked women off a cliff? Think of that. As Nick has already mentioned, the bacon maple bars are on par with Voodoo Donut. They also have a nice variety of fritters - not just apple - which makes life a little fatter for me. I love the cake donuts here and would happily give them 5 stars for those and the cream puff things (those are delicious). BUT - there is an issue with their hours. They have posted on the door 5am-6pm (not 9pm like Yelp listed). Many times I've stopped by on my way home and they are closed EARLY. Case in point today, July 7th, I am here at 445pm, an hour and 15 minutes before their posted closing time and the door is locked. I can see in the case hundreds of donuts taunting me... But they are closed. I don't know why this keeps happening but it really is a poor way to run a business. One day a couple weeks ago, I had come by and there was a hand-written sign on the door that said they were closing early later in the week due to the anticipated heat wave. When I recently went to Olympia and Centralia I wanted to hit a bunch of places I had bookmarked in these areas to file down my Yelp bookmark list some. For a while that list was growing exponentially and while I was doing my best going to as many places as I could I did not feel like my list was getting any shorter until recently. Twister Donuts was on this list of mine and while I had many stops to make still I got some fritters to go. I got one Sweet Potato fritter and a Pumpkin one. The fritters were huge and were intended to be shared with Steve when I got home. When I did get home we cut the fritters in two and we both had a singnificant portion of both kinds. I'd heard good things about Twister Donuts and now that we moved to the East side, it was our chance to try them out. The parking lot was full and inside seating was crowded on a Friday morning, a good sign! We were impressed by the number of fritters offered and ended up getting: a peach fritter, chocolate peanut butter fritter, ham and cheese doughnut, old fashioned doughnut, and a custard filled doughnut. When I pointed to the cream puffs, I was told they're sold as 6 or a dozen pieces, but I didn't want that many, so I was given one to try for free! Unfortunately, the peach fritter didn't taste like peach, even the single bite that we found a piece of peach didn't taste of fruit. The old fashioned doughnut tasted purely of oil, which was so awful we spit out our bites. Chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite flavor combo but the fritter just didn't do anything for me. There was nothing wrong with the custard filled and being someone who loves savory and sweet together, the ham and cheese was good, although I'm not sure it needed the addition of maple frosting and bacon pieces. I did see a few fruit flies in the case and they charge 35-cents for credit card transactions when the total purchase price is under $4. We're super disappointed that we didn't like the doughnuts here since so many others do. We will stick with Doo's Donuts on the West Side. read more

Got a strawberry-rhubarb fritter today, and two homemade pork tamales. Both the fritter and the tamales were amazingly fresh and delicious! You could tell they were both made fresh that day. Sooooo good! A nice man, wearing a proper covid mask, provided quick and friendly service. He says they now carry fresh homemade tamales every day but sometimes they sell out. Found this shop while out on a Saturday morning bike ride (luckily I had my panniers strapped on my rack). When I rolled up into the p-lot another customer was just getting into his vehicle, so I asked "they make tasty donuts here". It was his first time as well but he responded by telling me how solid the customer reviews are and how friendly the cashier is. I ended up buying 1/2 dozen. They were all delicious, especially the Bavarian cream (always a favorite) and their Maple bar (not typically my go to but it's one of their most popular and now I know why). Visited Twister last weekend after a traumatic DMV experience... sugar makes it all better haha. A little boy held the door open for my friend and I to enter; really cute. The display in this place is enormous! I saw just about every kind of fritter you could imagine, from blackberry to pineapple to frosted with caramel and peanut butter. Also present were staples like donut holes, bar donuts, raised donuts, and filled donuts. Service here was great- the two people working (a woman at the counter and a man doing the cooking) were really helpful, and the cook even made me a flauta because they were sold out! I ended up with a banana fritter, a pumpkin fritter, and an order of puffies (mini cream puffs). I wanted to try something a little different, and was feeling particularly glutinous, so I purchased the apple flautas and shredded beef tamales (yeah they have beef tamales) too. Out the door I paid less than $20 for that treasure trove of sugar. I highly recommend the fritters, though I would say they don't necessarily taste like whatever is on/ in them. Puffies were not my thing- the filling is more of a pudding. The flautas were yummy- large flour tortilla rolled up with apple filling inside and then fried with a cinnamon/ sugar coating. Tamales were a great dinner and lunch the following day. All in all this place was excellent... I had goodies for days! read more

I have yet to have a donut from here. I arrived during business hours last week. The site said open until 6 in think. I arrived at 3:07. I pulled in to the parking lot only to be greated to a sign on the door that said closing early at 3 due to hot weather. :( I am hopeful I will get by there again one day and that they will be open the hours scheduled. Domuts were decent, the store it self seemed a little messy, maybe just because its a bakery im not sure but. So my girlfriend and I have been to Twister Donuts twice in the last two days. The first time we ordered up a half dozen (only $3.99). It was a mix of glazed, cream filled. cake and a bacon maple bar. First thing I tried was the bacon maple bar. Love at first bite really. I knew this was gonna be my new favorite thing. All the donuts were great. They weren't as soft as Krispy Kreme but they were bigger and made with love. All the other donuts were great as well but the basic glazed one wasn't glazed enough at least that's what we thought. So the next day before making a trip to Ramirez's carniceria to buy meat, I decided to call up a to go order at Twister Donuts. Me: Hey there. I was in there yesterday and took away a half dozen. I was wondering however, if you could maybe make me a half dozen glazed donuts but instead of the regular, if you'd be able to double glaze them. Girl@TD: Umm. Well we usually make our donuts in the morning so if you'd like a special order I could make a note tonight and you could pick them up tomorrow. Me: Oh okay. I'll just come in tomorrow or something then. A couple of minutes passed. I get a call. It's Twister Donuts Gir@TD: Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I spoke to the cook and we can double glaze a new batch for you to pick up today. Me: Really? Oh my god. That's awesome. We'll be there soon. Now that's customer service. We went in an hour later and picked up our stuff. I tried our double glazed. Amazing is not a strong enough word to describe these magic things. The only downside about this trip was that they were out of bacon maple bars. I should have called ahead and reserved them though. The upside however is that we got our 6 double glazed and 8 more assorted donuts and went home happy. Their menu has 14 donuts for $6.99. This is including tax by the way. I stopped by on our drive to Long Beach. It's about a 15 minute detour off the freeway but worth it. I tried the pumpkin fritter which was huge and very delicious. Lots of sugar on the top but I didn't mind it one bit. The donut itself was very fluffy. I also got some black coffee which was medium-bold and hot. Not sure how fresh it was as it was in a carafe for self-service but it tasted just fine. I'd stop by again if I'm in the neighborhood. read more

WOW! So many doughnuts!! I took a video of all the doughnuts and it seemed never-ending. I tried the raspberry fritter and a coconut cake one. Both were good but the raspberry fritter was my favorite. I loved that they had a t.v. playing cartoons when we went in so kids could go there and enjoy a doughnut and cartoons. read more

Had the custard filled doughnut - the one with the chocolate on top - and it was the best I have ever had; the outside was slightly crisp, and that texture is what made it interesting. If the next time I go there it is as good, I will get nothing else, including the bacon and ham doughnut. I also had the glazed, chocolate-and-peanut-topped, and these were also good, but after the first one, I was expecting more (yes, I am saying that they did not surpass the high bar that they have set for themselves), but they were still great. They say you are what you eat, so in a couple of hours I'll be a jelly doughnut. *edit* - had a second custard doughnut a few hours later, and it had lost the crispiness of the outside, and was like a normal doughnut. If you want to duplicate the experience I had, I suggest finding out which doughnuts are the freshest, and get those. read more

Twister Donuts, get in my belly! But trying to decide which ones became a real pain...or a good problem to have, I suppose. The selection was impressive and I was able to stall and browse with a customer and his kids ahead of me in line. The "Bacon Maple Bar" is one of their specialties, so I had to try that monster with maple icing with bits of bacon on top. I also played it safe by defaulting to my standard vanilla frosted with sprinkles. I devoured both with my morning coffee and, after eventually coming down off my morning sugar high, I daydreamed about how good they were. First, the disclaimer: I am writing this review on a sugar high. A really, really good one. That being said...this was out first time to Twister. First impressions are important, and Twister seems to get that. Inside is well-lit, signage large and easy to read, and display cases labeled well and well-stock with a huge selection. And, perhaps even more importantly, good service. When we went in, there was only a solo man working there--was after 10am, so probably after the rush. He was doing something in the baking area behind the counter, and called out to us that he'd be right with us. A very small thing, but important...he acknowledged we were there. And the wait was maybe 30 seconds. But he was very nice, helpful, and patient (we were ordering for us plus the 4 kiddos). They have something for everyone. I'm a fritter fan, and got a pumpkin and blueberry. Both very good...though I'm not done with the blueberry yet, because the things are ENORMOUS. Thus the sugar high. Again, was our first time.
