The good: Beautiful setting Friendly folks manning the venue interior Ample beverage choices with reasonable markup Really good carrot cake Clean port a potties The bad: We showed up well before the venue opened at 5:30 hoping to secure a parking spot that would allow us to leave without the gridlock we had experienced prior when we went to the Black Keys. At that prior concert upon exit we sat unmoving in our car for at least 45 minutes before someone opened a back gate and let us out. We were hopeful the next time that they would have opened that sooner. But NOPE --They no longer open it, they claim, because the city requires they keep that exit clear for emergency vehicles. If you arrive early, DO NOT ALLOW THEM to park you near the back fence/gate. They will not let you out the gate and you will be the last to leave. This is super frustrating because you can't help but see that there's a gate and a clear path away. The visual of an exit is hard to look at when you're stuck and unmoving. Remlinger Farms needs to take into consideration that the first to arrive should be parked closer to feasible exits. It seems unusually punitive to require early birds to be the last to leave, while staring at a blocked exit --when they give up more time prior to the concert to be there early. When cars don't move at all it also just brings up something primal that we all feel when we're trapped, (fight or flight)with no escape. After the Cake concert, with our cars In the back section, we all left our vehicles to see what was going on. One of the women there said that her sister had arrived at 6:45 PM, 15 minutes before the show started and was already on her way home. The show had ended at least an hour prior. Several people gathered and the mood was getting escalated. Trapped people are frustrated people. This to me is completely unacceptable and poor management of resources. To express our frustration , feedback and case for letting us out the gate, some folks all started talking to the manager of parking about what was happening, including telling him of our early arrival---and while the kid was polite he probably was about 19 or 20. You don't put a kid in charge of crowd control during parking exits. This is completely irresponsible and not well thought out. While they may have devised a plan to empty the parking lot as swiftly as possible, in fairness, they also need to take into consideration that first and first out is really a thing, and it keeps people from becoming irate or desperate to leave. One person had their toolbox and was ready to take the back gate off the hinges-- I kid you not, And I don't blame the reaction. At the heart of it, we are still animals that will go to lengths not to be cornered. It's understandable to be the last ones to leave if you are the last in. And that would be a normal expectation. It's unacceptable when you are the first in. Two stars are for the venue and drink service. Zero stars for parking. Will we return? Maybe if the headliner is super amazing and there's a clear indicator that this situation has been mitigated. But if we're seeking an outdoor venue Chateau St. Michelle is the clear choice. We have a limited entertainment budget and choose to spend our money at a venue that respects our time and ensures that we are granted an easy exit. This parking situation is a big deterrent from an otherwise, good venue. We shouldn't feel trapped and panicked after a fun night. I hope management sees this and makes much needed improvements. Until then, we'll seek out other venues first.

A sweet, family-run farm featuring the cutest herd of alpacas (and big old sweetheart guard dogs)…read more -- we stopped by for a farm tour and had an absolute blast, and it's just about a ~40 min drive from Seattle proper. The owners are seriously wonderful -- you can tell they care so much about what they do and their passion for their work is absolutely infectious. The tour is split up into a few sections, where we got to learn more about alpaca products, about alpacas in general, and then a feeding session. The alpacas are SO. CUTE. and they are very gentle -- I was pleasantly surprised by their goofy summer haircuts. They have tons of products made from the herd, including yarn. They also hold community events around the wintertime and for Mother's Day! Highly recommend a visit and to support these great folks!

You will go along the Oxbow Lake on one side and apple trees on the other. After that path, you'll get to the farm where small vegetable, pumpkin, and sunflower patches are. Everything is so cute! The most interesting part is the conservation tent is. Super big and full of baby plants. Amazing! Just don't touch anything :) They grow a lot of flowers too. They have tomatoes in another tent. There are activities for kids such as painting pumpkins or scavenging hunt. You can also have lunch at the tables and buy cider from them :)

Arriving at Carnation Farms, not knowing what exactly might be there, I was firstly surprised to see the classic "Carnation Farms" logo with the exact font type and the carnation flower on the cans of evaporated milk that I have seen my entire life. Wait a minute, is this THE "Carnation Farms"? Well, yes, but also a no, but also a yes. LOL. I ended up reading the historical signs and chatting with the cashier for a while (there were no other customers - zero). Carnation was indeed the dairy farm that made the now world-famous evaporated milk, created in 1899. The business grew and thrived so well that the community of Tolt was renamed to Carnation in 1917 although the name changed back and forth two more times before it stayed with Carnation. In downtown Carnation, many businesses are still named Tolt, including the Tolt River. In 1985, Nestle brought the Carnation company. In 2016, the original Stuart family purchased the name "Carnation Farms" back from Nestle. The name rights exclude diary, but they have animals and is now a venue, amongst other business ventures. We missed a local market that was on the previous day. Today, this sleepy business sells many locally made products and hosts community events such as the local market. Limited bundles of produce represented the 'farm' name poorly, if I am being honest. I asked the cashier which products in the store are actually from the current farm. She pointed to the freezer case. I chose a frozen curry goat soup from the case. It was passable, more soup than goat, i.e. not much meat. If you want to visit, check their calendar of events and go for a museum tour or one of their many events. The shop itself is less interesting.

Definitely more low-key than some of the other bigger operations but so perfect for our family. There were goats, they were pumpkins, and there was a little mini pumpkin maze, which was just there . The vibe was exactly what we needed. We went on a rainy day, but managed to find a two hour window with a little bit of sunshine. Couldn't have been better! They've got all different types of pumpkins that you can either pick yourself or just choose off the shelves. There was also a craft fair with holiday crafts. Oh! And a really nice restroom!! Lots of parking too. My only suggestion might be to have a few places to sit down along the long path to the corn maze. I'm recovering from a back injury and that might've been a nice addition. It's early in the season and the pumpkins were fresh on the vine to cut (they provide shears) and all looked in perfect condition. They also have a large variety of carts, wagons and wheelbarrows to borrow and pull into the fields. Prices are vague and not clearly listed; it also didn't help that the staff was confused what to charge me for a white ghost pumpkin I picked from the field. The main barnyard area has a nice aesthetic with a photo op area and tractor kids can sit on. There's also a small goat area too, because you can't go wrong with animals. Other attractions included a corn maze that was a bit further, that we decided to skip. There are small children's areas within the barn including a mini tricycle track, corn pit, hay maze, but they honestly weren't memorable. Overall it's a smaller local pumpkin patch farm for a basic visit, but there's definitely potential to grow.

I recommend wearing something like hiking shoes because the maze is pretty bumpy (because of corn stalk stumps). They also had a food truck (tacos!), flower stand, produce stand, a pumpkin patch, sunflowers, pigs, and probably something else I'm forgetting. There was a steady flow of people (arriving and leaving) but everyone wore masks and it was easy to stay quite far from people because the farm has plenty of space. The only close encounter was one group of 3 people while we were lost in the maze. They accept cash and had hand sanitizer available.

But I was very turned off last year by them asking for tips when paying with a credit card! They can turn off the tip option on their credit card machine but they choose not to. I think sometimes they let go through the screen yourself and select your options on the ipad but I've also encountered them several times asking loudly, do you want to leave a tip? Their u-pick prices are already $1-$3 higher per pound for most things compared to the farmers market and then on top of that they want tips. It is DISGUSTING. They don't make tipped wages like waiters so why are they trying to get even more money from their customers through tips? People may leave tips but guess what, in this economic climate, we don't want to leave tips. But we feel that if we don't that you will not only judge us but perhaps even treat us badly. The tips that you have received aren't a signal that we think you are doing a great job; we are afraid of repercussions if we don't. Edit: I thought they were organic but I just checked their website and it doesn't explicitly say that they are, it did mention healthy soil. But it says they offer organic vegetable starts which kinda implies they are organic. So keep this in mind when looking at their pricing.

It's right off the main road, easy to find, plenty of parking and very clean port a potty on site. The person working the stand was super helpful and informative. On the day of our visit they had U pick green beans and pickling cucumbers. My friend spent so much money on pickling cucumbers (I guess they are all water and very heavy), but I had a nice time picking enough green beans for the next nights dinner for a reasonable price. They also had already picked corn that you could take home for about 75 cents each. Both tasted delicious when cooked up the following day, my friend is making pickles so that will take some time. Next up is squash, closer to the end of October, I'm tempted to return to pick some spaghetti squash, they will also have acorn and pumpkins. Currently they have 4 sunflower mazes, we were in a bit of a hurry so we only did one, but it was a really nice photo opp and a good excuse to add in some more steps. On the day we visited there was a sale for 5$, but the price is normally 10$ for all 4, very reasonable. The maze we choose, since we didn't go to the website like we were encouraged to do, was just an out and back, but the other 3 might be more maze like. This was my first time in a sunflower field and very fun on a warm, sunny day. I did not realize there would be so many bees, but they left us alone. I hope to make it back here some day soon.

If you want something fun to do with the kids outdoors or just love berries, this is for you…read more What's extra nice is that they open late so you can totally do this afterwork rather than wait until weekend where it can get crowded :) We decided to check this place out after work and there quite a few people there so I assume that the weekend would be super busy. The process is that you get a box that they provide, go toward the field where another person will assign where you can pick and then you just start picking. Super easy. Once you finish, you bring it back, they weigh your strawberries and you pay. Another bonus is that they accept credit cards! I had a pretty fun time here. The strawberries are sweet and fresh and it was super yummy. I definitely would recommend coming here.
