So I only found out about this place from just doing a google search after going strictly to the location down by Lakeshore where I first discovered about Two Brothers. This location is situated on the south side of the new Keelesdale subway station and York Memorial where the school burnt down a few years ago. Smaller establishment compared to the other location I am use to which is no big deal since i usually take it home with me. Menus are exactly the same which is nice and not conflicting. The staffs are so kind and asked about your day which made it felt like home. Placed 2 order of the Chicken shawarma wrap in a pita with almost all the toppings. The only thing that kind of threw me off the first time I ordered was the hot sauce, asked for a bit but it was kind of lathered all over and made it unbearable at first, maybe should of asked to add extra garlic spread to help prevent the hot sauce from overbearing my taste bud. Ended up finishing it in the evening and it tasted just as good as I remembered. 2nd time around I went back and placed a order of half and half since the beef is available and asked for extra garlic spread. Made a big difference. Thumbs up. The portions are just as huge and the meat filling is through the roof, just don't let the size of the pita bread fool you. Definitely going to make this the spot for when I'm craving some shawarma without trekking it down to Lakeshore, sorry Two brothers Lakeshore.

Second, it's completely empty, whereas the first time I was there it was bustling. We placed a large order for takeout for a dinner party. We placed the order via their online ordering system. When I came to pick up the food, I was greeted with "what order?". It took them 5 minutes to finally bother looking up the online ordering system to find the order there. Then they said it would take 45 minutes to prepare. At the time that I have hungry dinner guests waiting at home. At which point, I opted to leave. But before I left, I tried to get my money back, and the attendant was useless. He told me that he cannot do it without the manager. He called the manager and I spoke to him, and he told me that he will issue the refund the following week. The following week, the refund was not issued.. surprise surprise. I had to chase the manager for several days before the refund was finally issued. Yikes. Yikes. Yikes.

I've heard many good things about Zezafoun and was excited to finally try the place. The restaurant has about ~25 seats for customers indoors. They do have a small outdoor patio for when the weather gets warmer. Reservations are recommended during busy peak dinner or brunch times, however it is possible to get a table if you do walk in as well during non-peak times. I dined at Zezafoun with a party of 3 recently on a Sat evening. We didn't make reservations but walked in around 6:30 and was able to grab a table. It wasn't too busy that early in the evening but as the night went on the restaurant got busier. Service was great and friendly. Staff gave us plenty of time to decide what to order as well as gave us recommendations as well. The interior is warm and cozy. For drinks, I ordered the pomegranate juice which was unique and delicious. One member of my party ordered the rosewater and lemon juice which was refreshing and light. They also have Syrian coffee and tea as well on the menu which I will try next time! Food wise, we ordered and shared the following dishes: - Falafel plate (chickpeas patty fried and served with a side of tahini sauce) - Hummus (homemade chickpeas, tahini, lemon and garlic with a touch of olive oil) - Fattoush salad (Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish with Zezafoun dressing topped with crispy pita bread) - Kebbeh labanyeh (beef kibbeh in a cooked garlic yogurt stew served with side rice) - Maldoum (beef kufta wrapped with delicious eggplants in tomato stew and served with a side of rice) - Makloubeh (layers of rice, eggplants, and ground beef with tomato sauce served with side yogurt or salad) Food was delicious and unique! I've never had authentic Syrian food like this before and it was a delight. The appetizers we shared (falafel, hummus, and salad) were great to start the meal. The hummus was creamy and the falafel was nice and crispy. The crispy pita bread in the fattoush salad gave the dish a textural contrast, In terms of our mains, all the dishes were tasty but I especially enjoyed the makloubeh! Overall, delicious spot in Midtown Toronto for Syrian food in a cozy environment. Service was also spot on as well. Definitely want to return to try their brunch menu!

The smoked chicken skewers were outstanding--perfectly juicy with a subtle smokiness that enhanced the flavor well-seasoned, and cooked with care. I haven't even mentioned the colliflower which should be in a yelp review on its own. The pitas deserve just as much praise. Warm, pillowy, and slightly chewy with just the right amount of char, they were exceptional on their own and the perfect companion to the chicken. I'd love to know the recipe because they're easily some of the best pitas I've had. A special shoutout to our server, Daniel, who made our first--albeit brief--visit a memorable one. His friendly service and thoughtful recommendations elevated an already fantastic meal. This first visit was enough to convince me that I'll be back, and next time I'll be arriving hungry with plenty of time to explore the rest of the menu.

We ordered the banana pudding and the cauliflower dish, and both were major letdowns. The banana pudding had an odd flavor and texture that made it difficult to enjoy. It didn't taste fresh or creamy, and the overall dessert just wasn't appealing. The cauliflower was even more disappointing. It had a strong off taste that gave the impression it wasn't fresh, and the flavor was unpleasant enough that I couldn't finish it. Despite all the toppings and sauces, the dish just didn't come together and left a bad impression. The service was average--nothing particularly memorable, but nothing that made the experience better either. The ambiance also wasn't to my taste. The space felt loud and cramped, and I personally didn't find it to be a comfortable or enjoyable setting for a meal. Considering the restaurant's reputation and the prices, I expected a much better experience. While the presentation of the food looked nice, the taste simply didn't live up to it. Based on this visit, I don't see myself returning or recommending it.
