We finally had to ask a passing server fifteen minutes after finishing our meal to grab us our check and he was able to grab our plates as well. The food was nothing to write home about as I requested a medium burger and got well done as did my guest, but the service especially left much to be desired. For these prices, I would suggest choosing somewhere else.

The gondola is cool because we had our own speak to play whatever we pleased! It felt very private and intimate which I really enjoyed. I loved the decor throughout the restaurant and our gondola had cute little touches as well. For example they had a coo coo clock that when off every hour. For drinks I tried their feuerzangenbowle and the muled wine. My husband got a Hugo spritz and jagertee. I loved my drinks the feuerzangenbowle uses flambé which was so cool!, it's pretty similar to the muled wine. Muled wine is always a favorite of mine when the weather gets cold! Our server was awesome and super attentive. He answered any questions we had and was very friendly. The gondolas have a set menu we ended up ordering more that was on the set menu since I wanted fondue and my husband wanted the raclette. We added on a fondue, ordered the raclette that came on our fixed menu and added on steak, along with the pretzel that comes as an appetizer. The food was really good, I think it is also just so cozy and suiting for the cold weather! Fondue and raclette are also just such a fun way to dine! Highly recommend and definitely will be back just to try the standard experience too without the gondola.

The total bill for these items ran over 100 bucks... which, was to be expected in Vail. We're staying at the Grand Hyatt, which has been... fine. Meh, if we're being honest. A local recommended Mountain Standard, so we tried to make a reservation on OpenTable and quickly learned they were booked solid until tomorrow (a great data point, btw). But, being the swarthy pirates that we are, we showed up anyway; and thank sweet baby Jesus, we found two seats at the bar. Our barkeep, Gummow, a fellow swarthy pirate, was excellent in every possible way. His bar back, Rowan, could not have been a better support man. Together, they delivered the kind of service that makes you remember why hospitality is an art form. And the food? Absolutely to die for. My girlfriend had the oxtail, and I had the mock paella. Both were incredible. The service, the food, the environment; every facet was dialed in. We will be going back tomorrow for lunch, possibly dinner, and possibly to inquire about monthly rent. As a former service industry worker myself, real recognize real. This place and these people are it. Mountain Standard is iconic and must be protected at all costs.
