I ordered a simple bottled drink and a hot latte from the outdoor window at the patio. A blue haired girl with absolutely zero emotion took my order and seemed annoyed just to take my small, simple order at that. I didn't really care but what bothered me the most is that she knew I was waiting for my hot latte and didn't even call my name though I heard her call other names. She just placed it at the window not even in my vision from where I was sitting and it sat there for a long time until I got tired of waiting and walked up to see why it was taking so long and of course it wasn't even hot anymore. I had an amazing experience at Two Hands. It's a trendy little restaurant on south congress, I enjoyed the Australian theme of the interior with a light and airy interior design. The menu I found to be curious, there are not many places that you can find curry and a schnitzel on the same menu. I went with the schnitzel and I found it to be pretty good, no a stand out by any means but a solid meal. The burger that my friend had was the standout of the meal for sure, I liked how the meat was cooked and the consistency of the fries. The drinks that we had were fine but nothing all that special. I usually hit 2 Hands for breakfast after the gym, but decided to go for dinner tonight. Delicious pan seared bass with a nice medley of summer veggies. Light, tasty, tres yummy. And for coffee mavens, their baristas know how to make a good espresso. Nice staff, pleasant environment, given how commercial South Congress has gotten, I find this spot to be a respite. It was a cold day in Austin- Jan. 19th, but warm and cozy inside. We were offered immediate seating at the bar. Where I enjoyed my English Breakfast tea- seen in picture-my way with my own little milk container and tea pot. I ordered the breakfast my way too with the eggs over medium:firm on homemade sour dough toast and hash browns. It was so flavorful and presented beautifully. I wish we had ventured out of the hotel and eaten breakfast here instead of the hotel buffet that served cold eggs and bland everything. At the bar, I was happy to find hooks to hold guests purses, and a happy bartender, who cheerily dealt with my indecisiveness (don't judge...especially after reading my order below). The Cortado- amazingly smooth and prepared correctly. Don't sleep on their coffee! Avocado toast- perfectly salted (iykyk). Balanced and well seasoned featuring freshness from the cilantro, spice from the chiles, sweetness from the pickled onions, texture from the pepitas, and perfectly dense bread to hold it all together! Lemon poppyseed waffle- the smell alone is so inviting! With their pillowy texture, and the burst of the poppyseeds, these are some of the best waffles I've ever had. They truly melt in your mouth, but there's really no sense in me continuing to describe them. The best I can do is encourage you to try them for yourself. I absolutely love this place. Every time I come, the food is always fresh and delicious. My go-to is the Salmon Quinoa Bowl and sometimes the Miso Mushroom Bowl; these always hits the spot. Recently I tried the Lemon Poppyseed Waffle, and man, were they delicious. I was worried that it would be too sweet with all that Vanilla mascarpone on top, but to my surprise, the whole dish was very well-balanced. I enjoyed the lemon poppyseed flavor in the waffle, and the mascarpone paired perfectly with it. The addition of fresh strawberries adds a pop of acidity and freshness to each bite. I recently had brunch there with my husband. The food was decent, especially loved the lavender lemonade and the harissa chicken was pretty good. The atmosphere is really nice and we sat outside in the patio under this beautiful large tree. The service was not great. Out waiter was quite impatient and curt with us. He seemed like he was annoyed with having to wait on us. I was quite surprised as we were nothing but polite to him. This is a fantastic little cafe that has incredible food but also a beautiful, bright space that's great for friends to hang out and eat. I love the interior and think it's such a pleasant place to be with the modern tiling and bright blue and green decor elements. Since it's on South Congress, parking is a little dicey and difficult to find but that is not on them. I went on a Thursday around 6pm and there was pretty much no one else there so it was fast and personalized service. As for the food, I tried the Brassicas salad which is a great mix of healthy greens without tasting like just a bunch of raw vegetables. The egg and avocado really help to balance the vegetables with its creaminess. My friend also tried the miso mushroom bowl and thought it was amazing. Came here with my mom for brunch. LOVED it. I will say - I had been trying to come here for weeks but they just never had reservations at the times I wanted. When I finally did go with my mom, we had to book an early outdoor patio spot because it was the best available, but when we arrived they still asked if we preferred inside eating (which we did because it was windy that day). It is a cozy place that gets filled up quickly. The servers are really nice, and I really enjoyed the food! Two Hands is a great brunch spot on South Congress. I had some friends visiting town and we decided to start our day out here with some brunch. I didn't order any drinks but my friends did and really enjoyed their cocktails. We sat outside on their patio area and it was a beautiful setup with comfortable seating allowing us to take advantage of the great weather. Inside is also a nice cafe aesthetic with tiles, wood and greenery. The overall atmosphere is very bright, warm and inviting. I opted for the steak and eggs and was very pleased with what I received. Not as basic as a typical steak and eggs, this one came with micro greens and a delicious sauce, that complimented the salad and meat expertly. The sauce really stood out as a delicious and unique factor for me. Hash browns were hidden underneath and were very crispy and well seasoned. Steak was quality and cooked medium rare. Yolk of the egg was also a perfect over easy so the delicious egg yolk could flow and meld with everything. Service was attentive, kind and quick. Our waters were filled often and we were checked in on several times. I loved my experience here and was a fantastic vibe to kick off the weekend while also providing some delicious and unique food at a reasonable price. read more

I want to preface this review by saying that I spend a LOT of money eating out. Pre-COVID, I probably went out to eat an average of 10x a week, mostly at higher-end places. I don't eat out quite as often these days, but I want to be clear that I'm not shy about spending good money on a great meal. I say this as context for the fact that I had a really hard time feeling like my meal here was a good value proposition. I ordered a glass of iced tea, and it was $4.50, which seemed higher than average for a pretty average-sized and average-tasting glass of iced tea. Then I noticed that refills are $1.00. Fine, I can understand this if you are worrying about people camping out drinking tea all day. But what got me is that I asked for a little milk on the side because I like milk in my iced tea. They brought me a tiny carafe that was about 1/2 full - I'd estimate that it was about an ounce, maybe 1.5 ounces of milk - about a shot glass worth. When I got the bill, I saw that they'd charged me $1.00 for this tiny thing of milk. Seriously? When you order black coffee and you ask for cream, do they charge $1.00 for your side of cream, too? For my entree, I ordered the miso mushroom bowl. It was pretty good, but I'm not sure it was $17 worth of good. And my friend and I split a slice of banana nut bread for dessert. I will say that this banana nut bread was gush-worthy. It was covered with this luscious espresso whipped cream that had me totally swooning. It was also $11, which seemed a little high for a slice of banana bread, even banana bread this good - though I would consider buying this again, because it was outstanding. But I just cannot get over the fact that they charged me $1.00 for that tiny bit of milk. I feel like I'm overblowing this a bit, but that silly $1.00 charge overshadowed an otherwise decent experience and left me feeling nickeled and dimed. All this said, their patio is lovely and the service was friendly. If you're not a stickler for value, you might enjoy it here. read more

I ordered the salmon quinoa bowl, which is one of my favorite things to order at any place that offers it. The salmon was so yummy, and everything went really well together. I was SO full afterwards. We also got the breakfast roll with an added hash brown, and the EGG was MINDBLOWING! The way they made it so fluffy and light and pretty layered like that, completely unique and amazingly soft.
