    The wine tasting room
    Rebecca A.

This is my favorite winery on the Maine wine trail. The owner is down to earth, friendly and loves to share information about her wine making process. If no one is there just give her a call. In the off season call ahead to see what she has stored. There are so many delightful wines to try. Don't forget to stop in for a complimentary tasting of all her wonderful wines. The cranberry blast is my favorite. It is like thanksgiving in a bottle, perfectly balanced tart and sweet port. The lemon is wonderful, especially with champagne. The raspberry is a crisp and tart wine. The Merlot has less oak and finished subtly dry. I'm not usually a Merlot fan but this was lovely. The blueberry has a fresh picked blueberry flavor with a hint of sweet.

The cranberry blast is amazing and I always grab one or two bottles while I'm there.

We had the best time listening to live music and enjoying seeing eachother...and I played corn hole with my son. Kids can run around the grass freely under the moonlight. We walked back to our lodging and enjoyed fire flies..we dont really get those in Los Angeles. Great people, service, wine and food. Dont miss on this!! XXOO THANKS!

Upon arriving I was torn between that and the filet, asparagus and roasted potatoes. In the end I decided to bite the bullet and spend $56 on that since it sounded delicious. Boy what a mistake. My medium well done steak was well done. The asparagus was sub par and there were 4 tiny roasted potato pieces as well as pickled mushrooms. Everything was so dry! I asked for some bleu cheese dressing but all they had were crumbles. I asked for a soda to wash it down. The water was warm. I never got the soda and proceeded to eat the meal because I paid almost $60 for it! My daughter's girl dinner was cute with a tiny salad, Alfredo, a cosmo and tomato mozarella in small martini glasses. She ate it all and was still hungry. When offered dessert at $12 we opted to stop for a huge ice cream on the way home. Am I glad I tried it? Yes. Would I ever have a need to return with Sedgley Place down the street? Absolutely not.

They have a very light canned wine/seltzer that was unique in a good way! We left with a bottle of the Morphos Rose & one of Morphos White.

Thankfully we made it for their last open weekend for 2021! Service was extremely friendly - and we learned a ton about the winery and their practices. My husband listened to a podcast about the winery (which is why we'd wanted to visit), and the owner used to plow only using a horse. They have since switched to more modern ways - but I love that their wines are all-natural and with as minimal intervention as possible. The wines themselves are fantastic!! We had a 1/2 pour of each of the six offerings (sparkling white morphos, sparkling rose morphos, Chardonnay, cab franc, merlot and a cider) and I truly was surprised to find they are all GREAT!!! The sparkling white and Chardonnay were my favorites, but the reds were nice and dry and full of flavor. The cider was also dry and tart - it is lovely! The rose morphos was a bit too sweet for me, but tasty nonetheless! We will absolutely be back next time we are in the area!
