If I could rate this store zero stars, I would. I have been to both the Grand Central location and DUMBO and have never experienced such rude staff overall in a store. The utter disgust on their faces and level of entitlement is unlike anything I've ever seen. Also to add that this store refuses to answer the phone because they are "so busy", but no matter which location you're in, the only time they are busy is during a toy drop, there is no reason to not answer the phone at other stages. Grand Central store today was supposed to have a needoh drop at 3pm. Customers were lined up, no notice was put on their Instagram page, which they swear by to have the latest information (because they don't answer the phone or emails) and the store closed! Before responding to any of these customers, with what was written on their Instagram page, they post an "event" which you then have to grab tickets to be able to buy needohs tomorrow at their Grand Central location. The fact that this was posted first, before issuing an apology to customers that traveled there today and allowing these people first access to tomorrow, they did not have a care for their customers. Standard toy store but overpriced and they don't do wrapping for gifts. We were in a bind but prob would not have bought anything if we didn't have a party looming. Layout is cramped. Register is hard to get to. Folks working there not that friendly. Way better options but again if you're desperate for a gift and passing by, it's an option read more

Context: I am an action figure collector so I often check out any toy store I may encounter. I was visiting DUMBO recently and had some time to kill. A search on Yelp pulled up Two Kids and a Dog as being close to the York Street train station so I headed over there after getting out of the train. When I was a kid, there were tons of mom and pop toy stores in New York City. As the years have gone along and the toy industry has changed, there are less and less of them. Most of the time when you go to get a toy nowadays it's more likely to be at Target than a place like Two Kids and a Dog. To me, such stores have their own kind of charm and personality. Their prices may be higher, but on rare occasions they have hidden treasures for collectors such as myself. Two Kids and a Dog is set in an old brick building with a very classic store front where you walk in the middle and you're flanked by displays on either side. However, instead of using those windows as display space, they are extensions of the store choc full of toys. Up front I'll say that for the older action figure collector there's really nothing here for you. The store skews towards a much younger age group and barely touches on toys aimed at teenagers (there are some, but not a lot). You won't find action figures or Playstation games here. Instead, there are many charming toys like Lite Brite, dinosaur "grabber arms", die-cast cars, building sets and small PVC animals. They even had a small section with coats for kids. The prices struck me as about average for a smaller store (generally about $2-5 above what you'd pay at Target depending on the item). In terms of service, I didn't buy anything but I did see the young cashier taking care of a couple customers and she seemed cool. None of the nastiness other reviews suggest, but maybe I was there on a good day? If you're looking for toys aimed more at the 3-12 year old crowd and you're in the neighborhood, this is definitely worth checking out if only to take in some of the old skool charm of this toy store nestled in one of DUMBO's side streets. read more

The old short Russian lady .. she might be the owner who knows who cares she has a terrible attitude I'm not sure if she's upset with life or not selling as much during the Christmas holiday but this store needs to shut down .. when i have time today I'm calling 311,it's and the better business bureau her toys are bucked up 4x the price . read more

There are two kids toy stores in dumbo and this place is the pits. I'm not talking with regards to the stock or location or even price, it's with regards to (the lack of) customer service in store. I've been in on 3 separate occasions now and been served by the same dark haired lady and each time she has had an attitude problem, kind of like I'm bothering her by going in her store and buying toys (what an a$$ I am hey?!) I'm not sure if it's because I only buy the cheap ($14) die cast metal toys and not spending $50 plus. Or if it's because my child is a little excitable (shock horror in a toy store)?! Either way I get the card machine shoved in my face (as apparently she didn't have change of a $20 - weird eh?!) no offer of a bag, receipt, thanks for coming and supporting local business etc. The reason she gets two stars (one more than they truly deserve) is because she has a good selection of the die cast metal cars, however I'll walk the mile to cvs now and buy the same cars for $10 less. So if you are ever in Dumbo and want to take your child to a toy store AVOID this place like the plague and go to 'half pint citizens' instead, the staff (especially the owner) are super lovely and go out of their way to talk to my son and actually show an active interest in him. In the meantime maybe a customer service course is in order for two kids and a dog!!! read more

This is by far the best kids toy store around. I don't have enough amazing things to say. The owner does such an incredible job carefully curating the merchandise. It's so different than any other kids store I have ever been to. I always find the most original, perfect items whether it to be for a gift or for my own children. This is definitely the place to go for unique and special items, as well as everyday necessities for all occasions. They have incredible selections of shoes, clothing, gifts, toys, everything! Best word to describe this store is FRIGHTENING. I was looking for a toy horse for a 2 yr w a newborn sister & the store insisted the toy horses that were labeled NOT FOR UNDER 3 -- WARNING CHOKING HAZARD would be safe, that a child couldn't choke on it because it was too BIG. This was not my 1st visit to the store & not my 1st problem, either. I explained to the woman (manager? owner?) that the reason it's labeled as a hazard is because it's dangerous. She continued to insist the tiny horses were safe even though labeled as hazardous. I also told her a purchaser might be foolish enough to believe her. I asked her if she had kids. She said she does. I suggested if she thinks they're safe to give them to her kids, not my grandchildren or others' kids. Buyer beware of this ethically challenged store. read more

This is the cutest store in Dumbo ! They have unique clothes and amazing toys.

They have a huge selection of kids clothes and toys. It's a little crammed in there but I like their merchandise and the salespeople have always been nice and helpful. I bought a pair of natives for my son at Half Pint yesterday afternoon and he complained that they were a bit tight last night so I tried to exchange them this morning. The manager at Half Pint refused to let me exchange them (really frustrating!) so I went to Two Kids to buy a new pair for him. As a last ditch effort, I asked the owner of Two Kids if she would consider taking them back considering they were brand new and I bought them just yesterday. She said no problem and let me exchange them for a new pair in a larger size. It was so wonderful!!! I will definitely shop there from now on. read more

This is my favorite new store in dumbo. The selection of toys, clothing and unique gifts for birthdays, special occasions, and new babies is very impressive. The owner is lovely and the personal attention to detail and service is a perfect compliment to the quality of the products sold. My daughter and son are enamored with the toys which are displayed, and because of the welcoming environment and kid-friendly set-up, its easy to do gift shopping while the little ones are kept busy. And, they have the cutest selection of kids' shoes - a much appreciated addition to the neighborhood. I plan to do the majority of our birthday gift shopping here, and will be coming back with my daughter's wish list for the holidays - she is a 4 year old girl, and thinks this is the best store ever!!
