They threaten you if you complain ! Magdalena the owner will threaten police for any problem apparently. Buyer BEWARE These people lie to your face and in their responses and the service in this place is just plain terrible then if you complain they want to involve police just like any other discriminatory party. Then they edit their comments to erase their mention of cops it's just ridiculous Their shirts are overpriced for their cheap fabric and the selection is no better than anywhere else Be careful if you're a POC (other than Asian) or LGBT cause they really don't seem comfortable and will watch you like a hawk. The workers don't even know how to tell if a bill is real or not they accuse you of it being fake tho just to decline you If you need souvenirs from Brooklyn go elsewhere Support the botanical garden or museum but this place is not the place to go if you're looking for good service, a good selection, or value for your hard earned dollars. You can walk them through the checks on it and they still don't believe you they are clearly off I haven't used any defamatory language or disrespect. I walked her through the checks, showed her the real bill and then she agreed it was indeed fake. Before I had decided her disrespect was not tolerable. The shop was acting in a way that is disrespectful and the staff needs training on what a bill looks like. Further who would counterfeit a 10$ bill ? No one that's who. This place is just trying to cover its tracks after being caught being rude. Now they're threatening to involve police for a real bill these people have nothing better to do than to discriminate indiscriminately. I've posted the exact bill. As I said before, I showed them each parameter of the bill and now they're saying I'm false. They're lying. They're now threatening me. Yes I took the bill after I showed her it was fake and decided I didn't want the magnet and pin for less than 10$. The video footage will show my taking it from her hand in my frustration, saying this was incredibly rude, and walking out. There was nothing sketchy on my end at all They saw my bill and decided it was fake. This business now threatens police action when they're the ones in the wrong. Magdalena should be ashamed of herself for this ridiculousness. Let's involve the police if you want ! They'll have the exact bill the review in the photos. These people are deranged and liars. Avoid them! Send the security footage ! It shows how I walked you through how the bill was real before you accepted it ! I bought magnets that were to be shipped. When the flimsy envelope arrived, the magnets weren't there: they had torn through the poor quality paper and fallen out. I contacted the shop who refused to resend the merchandise and made me contact the USPS for a refund through insurance. IF the USPS reimburses me, they won't cover the shipping, which means I'm out $12 (!!! for that lousy envelope) AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF TIME. I'm really unhappy that they wouldn't just own their mistake and replace the magnets. Now I don't have the Christmas gift I planned on. Edit: Bizarrely Jack reached out to me and offered to replace the magnets and asked me to update my review. It was kind, if what should have happened at the outset. But then he went radio silent--I haven't received a shipping confirmation or the magnets or a return email. I'm so bummed and feel misled. Was he just pretending to be willing to send the thing I bought so I'd take down a negative review with no intention of actually sending it?! I just wanted the magnets, which completed a set that my own parents gave me some 25 years ago and which I haven't found elsewhere. I'm beyond baffled that they wouldn't just resend the product and fight with USPS on their own rather than shunting that task onto the customer who ends up with no magnets. This shop is wonderful! They sell lots of New York related gifts but also a ton of other random stuff too. The prices for their Christmas ornaments were really affordable compared to the souvenir shops in Manhattan (and for uglier ornaments). They sell shirts, kids toys, Russian nesting dolls, baby clothes, pens, magnets, books, jewelry and much more. They open pretty late on a Sunday too so it's a good spot to checkout if you want unique gifts later at night. The owner/cashier seemed surprised when I said hi upon walking in. I don't think he often greets the guests. I find it mostly nice to shop without someone hovering over your shoulder suggesting things and inquiring about who you're shopping for. read more

They sell a lot of Brooklyn and New York-centric memorabilia and clothing. Kind of a weird place for them to be located, as a lot of it is touristy schlock, but the people are nice. And I guess a good place to send your out-of-towner friends staying at a nearby Brownstone Airbnb to get some baby clothes or a magnet. read more

I was initially excited to go to this gift shop as I had seen a few pictures online that were intriguing. As we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly woman. She was warm and welcoming. As we browsed, I asked the older gentleman the price of a small cup and he very rudely told me it was a set and I couldn't get the individual cup. I was a bit startled but didn't say anything. We just continued to browse. As we perused the store I could just hear the older gentleman being rude to the other woman who was working there. As we were getting ready to pay, again, we heard him telling the woman what to do in a very rude tone. I'm my opinion, I think it's extremely unprofessional to do so in front of customers. I felt bad for the woman and felt uncomfortable. As far as the store itself goes, the items are pretty cool and if you don't mind spending more for a cool item I'd recommend this place. read more

Been coming to this Park Slope souvenir and gift shop selling all sorts of goodies from stationary to items from Japan. If you're looking for something funky or fun for a friend coming in from out of town or you're a tourist looking for a souvenir then this place is great. Found this shop when looking for a souvenir type shop but this is so much more! Great staff, very friendly and helpful. If you want a t-shirt, hat, magnet etc.. they have it all but the selection and quality is much better than your typical souvenir shop. They have an awesome variety of gifts from great socks, baby items, jewelry, hoodies and so much more. Worth checking out even if your a local. I'll be back for sure. read more

3.5 stars... I enjoyed browsing Gift Man Gifts (note that there is no signage outside of this store). The store specializes in NYC (specifically Brooklyn) themed gifts but certainly goes beyond that. There were a few vintage gifts, some by local artists, and some mass produced as well. I wish zero stars were an option. I was shopping at this overpriced junk store for some last minute gift ideas for the kids when a store employee decided to swear in front of my kids (5 and 3-years old). They were playing with some of the toys that were on display and I was putting them back when all of a sudden this crazy woman pushed us out of the way to return them to their original position. When I told her that I clean up after my kids she ignored me and again took a toy train that my son had been showing to his sister and immediately put it back. I told the kids that we weren't going to spend any money here and turned to leave. She immediately said, "JESUS CHRIST!" as if we had done something wrong. I returned the next day to discuss what happened. I walked in and said I'd like to speak to a manager and...she called 911! I spoke in hushed tones, was respectful, and did nothing to deserve this. A cop came and wound up laughing about how crazy this woman was. Don't bring your kids here! And don't reward these people with your business when so many other options are readily available. This woman was horrible, and this matches another reviewer's recent posting about falsely accusing someone of shoplifting. Stay away from this place! read more

As it is probably our last time visiting for another year or two, I just had to stop in. What I enjoyed most about this souvenir shop is that it had that Brooklyn feel and the merchandise reminds me of when I was kid spending summers in Brooklyn. Lots of cute little nicknaks and all kinds gifts that represent the beautiful city of Brooklyn. I felt however that SOME of the items were just a little bit pricey, but nothing compared to the shops in touristy areas elsewhere. This place strikes me as kind of an upscale knick knack/gift store. It has various and sundry things you can purchase: CD's, purses, jewelry, etc. Reasonably priced, too. Got a great YakPak purse for 20% off! As with most places, though some stuff is a bit over priced, so you have to be willing to pay attention to the somewhat cluttered shelves to find what you like. On a funny note, the lady working ended up jamming the cash register so that it just kept beeping. It was amusing, although annoying. Fun place to wander into, but nothing overly special. read more
