The movers were very nice but furniture was damaged. They left a chair at my apartment which required me to drive back to the apartment the last day of my lease. At the start of the day, there was no parking on the street in front on the apt bldg. Alex and derrick said "you should have reserved parking" (can't - it is public parking on a street full of apartments & the parking directly in front is reserved for persons with disabilities), so bc of having to park 20 feet further down the street, "we might not be able to move you today." NEVER WAS TOLD ABT RESERVING PARKING & EVEN ASKED - WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE The first thing they moved, a couch cushion, was immediately damaged and stained blue. They denied doing this, but there was no stain until they picked up and moved the cushions into their box in the hallway outside the apartment. Their box had blue marks on the outside of it, and there were blue stains in the carpet in the hallway outside the apartment underneath where they put their box. When the movers were told the stain was not there before they picked up & moved the cushion, they argued and refused to take responsibility, then obtained a signature for a release of liability on a BLANK form & filled in the damage they caused to the cushion as pre-existing! Would give them zero star if I could. This review isn't about a recent job. About a year ago I hired two men and a truck to help me & my boyfriend move stuffs between two apartments. The three movers from Two Men and a Truck were extremely slow, intentionally sluggish, and unprofessional. First, we were having some difficulties finding a parking space in our old building. Within 5 mins, they got impatient and threatened to cancel the move. We had to basically beg them to not cancel the job. During the move, my boyfriend and I are going back and forth moving stuffs on our own although we are PAYING them to move. A repairmen from our new building couldn't send how slow and arrogant these movers are, so much so that he jumped in to help us. The movers were slow because they were paid by hour. We ended up paying for way more than what we expected!!! I'm still mad at this experience. I contacted Two Men and a Truck to get an estimate for an unexpected move. I asked to be contacted by e-mail due to a disability but they tried calling me instead. When they did actually email me (the next day) there was no estimate; only a terse note that they didn't have any openings until August. I thought that perhaps it had to do with my original request (help with packing, moving boxes and moving furniture) so I inquired if they had anyone to help with just moving the furniture. The reply I got was a single sentence repeating what they said in their previous email. No greeting, no signature, no professionalism. Even if I could wait 'til August, this would be the very last company I would ask to move my belongings. If they can't answer a simple question without annoyance, imagine how they'd feel if they had to take the time to wrap and move my belongings. No thanks. read more

Recently, I employed Two Men and a Truck for a move. I am extremely disappointed and off-put by the job they did, and how the company handled the issues that arose from it. To begin with, the estimate they gave me to move from a one bedroom apartment was from $1600-2000. After the fact, it ended up being $2400. I hired four men in order to make the process quicker and smoother. For my previous move with an equivalent amount of items, I hired two men from a rival company. They worked hard and completed the job in far less time than it took four men from Two Men and a Truck to do the same amount of work. Two Men and a Truck took **9.5 hours** to complete a one-bedroom apartment move located three miles from my previous one. During the move, I ended up having to unload about 30 boxes myself, and there were numerous times during the day when they disappeared for 20 minutes at a time, and I had no idea where they were. Additionally, they disregarded the "FRAGILE" labels on certain boxes, which resulted in multiple items being damaged. One man, Willie (the team lead), dumped a "FRAGILE" box on the ground, and I heard an audible shatter. He saw me wince and go through the box, to which he replied, "Well, if I treated every box as fragile, I'd have to carry them in one by one." I hired this company because they said they were familiar with the area, and with the apartment building I was moving into, which included a spiral staircase to a loft. However, when they arrived, they refused to move necessary items up to the loft, claiming it was a "liability." Following this, I reached out via phone and email, and have yet to hear back from Claims. The customer service rep who said he'd speak to the team never got back to me. So instead of this remaining a private matter, I feel it is necessary to post a public review. Hire them with caution; I found them to be careless, unprofessional, and ultimately misleading. __________ UPDATE: I've been speaking with Justin, their Claims Manager, for two weeks now about the issues I expressed above. It's felt like a long back and forth process. He was prompt in covering expenses for the items damaged during my move (which I appreciated), and he said I would be refunded an hour's time to account for the time my movers were MIA. I have yet to receive this promised credit, and hope it comes through soon. Honestly, this process has felt like an exhausting ordeal (when it didn't have to be). Based on how long this has taken, it feels glaringly apparent that this company cares more about their reputation than the customers they currently have- or could have had for repeated business. read more

I am so glad we decided to go with two men and a truck during our move from our apartment complex in Whitehall to our Townhouse in Pennsbury Village. Although it can be a bit pricy like most moving companies, I will say it was worth it. They arrived earlier than we needed which was great to get the ball rolling, they unassembled all of the things we needed and moved it from the 8th floor apartment to the truck and over to our new place and reassembled everything perfectly in the time frame of 4 hours. We were able to have this all done in such a quick and efficient amount of time. There were 3 guys who helped with the entire moving process and they were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We will definitely use this service in the future if we ever need a move again! read more

I would definitely recommend this moving company - we had a smaller move (mostly just big furniture like dressers, couch, dining room set) and moved from one side of the neighborhood to the other. This included a stop at my parents' to drop off a dresser set we no longer wanted. They did all this with ease. The movers (three total) were incredibly polite and did their job very well. Would not recommend this company. My wife and I hired Two Men for a move into the suburbs. They did a full pack and move in 2 days. Everything during the process went smoothly. The movers were friendly and quick. We bought the guys 2 meals over the 2 days and tipped all movers and packers appropriately. The issue is that their packing quality is highly dependent on the packer, and the furniture reassembly was downright dangerous. One packer in particular did an extremely sloppy job packing our belongings. Kitchen shelves essentially dumped into boxes with no order. Fragile plates and wine glasses packed beneath cast iron cookware, with wine glasses broken. Formal dresses packed at the bottom of a box with miscellaneous items, all need dry cleaned. Neck ties taken off hangers and dumped into a box, all need dry cleaned. Baby bottles and sippy cups packed with a dirty outdoor floor mat. Fragile paintings and pictures stacked on top of one another with no padding in a box with toiletries. The list goes on. The bigger issue, which is what prompted me to write this review, was furniture reassembly. My son's crib was missing several screws when I reassembled it. I found our master bed to have 24 screws missing from the wooden slats. Worst of all, our guest bed was "assembled" improperly in such a way that nothing was actually fastened together. The bed started to come apart as my mother-in-law got in to it. It was basically held together by pegs and needed complete disassembly and proper reassembly with screws put in the right places. It's luck that she wasn't hurt. When I brought these (and other) concerns to the company, I was told that my wife and I were reportedly rushing the men, making comments about how slow they were, which is why they did a sloppy job. This was completely bogus. My wife and I are healthcare professionals- we sat on the couch and worked on our laptops while the men packed. We took breaks to eat with them and chit chat. At no point did we rush them. This accusation was a lie and totally unprofessional. After several angry phone calls, they agreed to reimburse me in the amount of roughly 15% of the total cost of the move for the above trouble. This was appreciated, but I won't be using this company again for and packing services and felt the need to share this experience. I had an extremely small move from an apartment in the city to a storage unit in the suburbs. However, I had a massive wardrobe that required someone to lift it. I looked at renting a UHaul and hiring help, and it would have been about $300-$400. My estimate was $370-$470. To not have to drive a truck, I decided to pay Two Men. My movers were professional, funny, and exceptionally polite. They worked really hard to not damage anything, which is impressive for IKEA furniture. In the end, they finished under budget, and I paid $340. I tipped them a nominal amount as well for saving me some money. I would happily use the same moving team again. read more

I was prepared to write a negative review because the estimator told me it would take 3 men 4-5 hours to move my stuff from a studio to a small house for nearly $700. The first thing the movers told me is that they would NOT take 4 hours to move me. They appeared within 20 minutes of the time they gave a courtesy call. When they showed up I went to greet them and each guy introduced himself to me before entering my building. All of my items were well cared for from start to finish. And my complicated Queen size bed was disassembled and reassembled in an efficient manner. They turned the dread I had about moving into a dream. Moving is a pain, but moving in the South Side, with its narrow, two-way streets that can only fit one car at a time and nightmarish parking? That's a special kind of hell, my friends. But thanks to Two Men And A Truck, I don't feel compelled to set myself on fire when I have to move apartments. I can't praise this company enough for its professionalism, punctuality and affordability. I've used them twice for work -- the first time, I moved out of four studio apartments into four new apartments four blocks away and the second time, I moved out of a one bedroom and into a storage unit eight blocks. Both times, I received a confirmation call the day before and another 30 minutes prior to the truck's arrival. Every employee, from the dispatchers to the movers themselves, are top notch. Rates are decent -- $90/hr with a two hour minimum, plus a fuel surcharge. I can't vouch for the quality of their out of state moves, but for a local job, there's no one better. read more

Terrible experience with this company. Move was on August 3rd and I am still waiting to be contacted by local or corporate office about my damaged dresser. I never received pre-move paperwork and was surprised to learn the day of the move about packaging instructions and what can and cannot be moved, which I had specifically asked about in several phone calls to the office. 3 men completed the move. 1 out of the 3 had absolutely no business being employed by a moving company dealing with furniture or heavy objects. He struggled with my dresser and several times, I instinctually stepped toward him because it looked like he was going to fall and/or drop the dresser completely. He "rested" the dresser on a stair while they tried to get it up the stairwell. These "rests" caused several punctures in the back of the dresser because it was banging into the top of the landing banister each time. At the end of the move, I sat down with the guy who was in charge and gave him the necessary information for the damage claim. After this was done, another guy started to fill out the rest of the paperwork and add up the time and cost for the job. This took several minutes and he did all of the calculations without a calculator and had to review the numbers several times. He then told us we were being charged for an additional 15 minutes because the move was estimated for 3 hours (9:30am - 12:30pm) and he did not finish the paperwork until 12:32pm. After the paperwork was done, they returned to the truck and I walked upstairs to further inspect my dresser and saw that the boxspring that was supposed to be on the bed was in the wrong room and the other boxspring was resting against a dresser and the mattress resting against the wall. I moved the boxspring into the correct room and placed the mattress on the boxspring and then noticed a block of wood (part of the bed frame) sitting on the floor. I ran outside and luckily the truck was still there and asked them to return to finish putting together the frame. First they said it had come from somewhere else and then when we pointed out that there was an identical piece on the other side, they put it together to include this piece. I was told I would be contacted to arrange a time for someone to look at the dresser in order to replace the back panel. I did not hear from them for a week and then called and was given the number of their wood worker. I called him and left a message. I didn't hear back and called the main office again and told them I had left him a message and not heard back. They said they would follow up. I did not hear from them again and finally called the corporate office. I was reassured that they would follow up with the local office and I should hear from someone shortly. After several days, I called back to the corporate office and she looked up my information and said that she had never heard back from the local office. She also did not think to contact them again or reach out to me. Maybe next month someone will actually come out to look at the dresser and by next year it will be repaired. I won't hold my breath. read more

Moved from Pittsburgh to Richmond, VA. When they came and visually inspected the place, they gave me a quote that was cheaper than what I got on the phone! That saved me a few bucks. A big reason why I went with "Two Men" is because I was moving out of town and most other companies put your stuff along side other people's stuff. And they wanted to load a few days before my actual move-in date. Which meant that I would have to stay in a hotel for a few days! No thanks. Two Men moved my stuff on Wednesday morning and unloaded early on Thursday morning. The guys move fast and they were really professional. I recommend Shane and Shawn. You don't have to tip. For a larger move that involved several stops (in and out of state) and in inclement weather I interviewed five different moving co's. For many reasons chose this co. Unexpectedly this move was not completed the first day. LaMont and his team and then Zach and his team were ALL kind; had a sense of humor; were easy going and completed the job. Awful, awful, awful! They took complete advantage of my elderly father who needed to move to a different apartment due to renovating his. It took 4 men 8 hours to move a small 2 bedroom apartment and they complained the entire time about moving things! He has basic furniture that he has had for 50 years so nothing was new, techno, or valuable. He is now moving back to his renovated apartment and we got 4 bids for the exact same move and all came in at about half the price for 2 men (not the 4 these terrible people used). Great service and pricing. The workers are very professional and well trained. It's nice dealing with a local company for cross country moves vs. an 800 number. I will be using them to move my heavy office equipment to another room, and now that I know they do in-home moving from room to room I will be using them to move all of my furniture to the basement while I get my floors re-done. I just completed a move from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, and because my company was paying for relocation, I decided to hire a moving service. After getting quotes from every company I could find in the Pittsburgh region, I settled on Two Men and A Truck because of how absurdly friendly and punctual Penny the secretary was. When the movers showed up, they were right on time, super professional, fast, and most importantly, friendly. I'm a pretty easy customer to please, but these guys were awesome. They'd help me move stuff that they weren't even tasked with moving, which was a huge help for me, getting some of my more important living stuff in my own car for transport. They were right on time at the storage facility the next morning and got all my cheap IKEA furniture transported without so much as a dent or chip. I did notice a little weathering on one of my bikes, but considering I just moved all my crap 300 miles in a day, I think that is a decent price to pay. I don't know what Roberta T. is talking about. These guys were nothing but professional and very easy to work with for me. It might depend on who you get, but Andrew and Drew were great guys. read more

This seemed add a little odd to me because he's also extremely money conscientious and love getting a discount. Now I totally get why! The team was, fast, efficient, and extremely courteous. But a lot of places are. These guys actually went out of their way MULTIPLE times to reassure him and to help with his anxiety and stress over the entire situation. The kept him informed during every step of the process. They even went out of their way to talk to him about subjects they knew he was interested in to help get his mind off things. Nightmare scenario! After another moving company fell through, I called Two Men And A Truck and talked to Hallie. She scheduled a move for me two days from then and told me the movers would call me 15 minutes before arrival. When nobody called on moving day, I got nervous and phoned the business office. I spoke with Seth, who told me no moving crew was coming because nobody scheduled anything. He tried to tell me Hallie never promised me a moving crew, then told me he wouldn't have sent a crew anyway because my previous moving company abandoned the move. These were all details I worked out with Hallie, who was either completely incompetent or having fun at the customer's expense. Oh, and the automated phone tree will leave you on hold for five minutes, nobody will answer and you will have to leave a message. It helps if you scream, too, because otherwise the automated attendant says she can't hear you and hangs up on you. Recommended only if you don't mind having your time wasted and being stood up on a deadline. read more

We contracted with Two Men and a Truck to move us about 5 miles into a new home. Most of the items that needed moved were in boxes, and I knew that some of it couldn't be moved because the boxes were half full, etc. They arrived on time, and I walked them through the house twice to go through the items. They had initially quoted 6.5 to 7 hours, and I was pleasantly surprised when they finished in something like 5 hours. I paid them and tipped the 3 drivers $60.00 each. I wasn't paying a lot of attention because a lot was going on, but afterward, I realized they only brought over a fraction of our belongings - it was as if they picked and chose what they wanted to take. As an example, they brought my daughter's desk, but not the chair that went with it. My son's drum set was all in one place in cases - they brought some of the pieces but not the others. Also, I had a couple of tool sets; one of those consisting of a cordless drill set worth about $150.00-$200.00 is now missing; it's not at the new house or at the old house. The supervisor said it wasn't on the moving truck - nevertheless it's missing..... I had to rent a 15-foot U-Haul the day after our move and I, my wife, and 2 children moved the rest our our belongings over in about 2 trips. I did speak to a supervisor - "Dave" to no avail. The issue with my drill has been turned over to 'claims'. I won't use them again. read more

I think they were totally milking the clock because there was not that much stuff, 2 bedrooms & a couch & TVs! We asked for boxes, took the guy 40" to get them from the truck! This was a nightmare. They moved me on October 16. Sent 2 men. Not enough help.They broke a mirrored chest. Had a company repair glass. Chest was destressed glass. Used regular glass and when I complained they sent me a check for $80.00. Chipped 2 pieces of furniture and chipped a piece of glass for my dining room table. Also put a huge hole in the wall when they were building my bed. I found all of this out after they left. Company did nothing about it. They are the worst moving company. Do not use them. None of our furniture was damaged and the final cost of the job was within the price we were quoted. The gentlemen that came to do the move carefully wrapped all of our antiques and fine furniture and handled everything as carefully as they would have handled their own stuff. We had a great experience with Two Men and a Truck. My wife and I moved from an apartment in Pittsburgh to a house in the suburbs of Pittsburgh (about a 15 mile move). We moved on a Saturday, which required a 4 hour minimum. If you move during the week, there was no minimum time requirement. I requested quotes from several different moving companies and found Two Men and a Truck to be the most responsive and most professional over the phone. The representative took a detailed inventory of the furniture we required moving and within a day prepared a detailed quote which was informative and made it easy to compare with other companies. I didn't feel pressured to use them after obtaining the quote and they also didn't need to send an estimator to the house. They quoted our move from a 3 bedroom apartment in Pittsburgh to a house in the suburbs at just over $800. It sounded like we could have saved a bit on this by moving during the week, but we had closed on Friday and wanted to move on Saturday. On moving day, they gave me a window of time (10 AM - 11 AM) and they showed up promptly at 10 AM. We were moving from a crowded neighborhood where parking can be an issue and I was worried about where they were going to park the truck. Our crew was clearly very experienced and put that anxiety to rest immediately. They were able to park the truck on a side street and set up cones to direct traffic around the truck. Our crew was Mike, Billy, and Doug. After parking the truck, Mike took an inventory of everything in the apartment and ensured the quote over the phone still appeared reasonable. He also walked me through all of the paperwork in detail and did not start the billing clock until after we'd gone through everything. I was immediately impressed with how professional the movers were. They very quickly wrapped everything up in bubble wrap and protective covers prior to moving anything out of the house (which I did not expect). Initially I thought I might help them move some things, but they clearly knew how to work with each other and I just worked to stay out of the way. They did leave a minor (but noticeable) dent in the wall at the apartment we were moving from which they did not bring to our attention, but this didn't seem all that unreasonable given the size of the staircase and the furniture we were moving from the second floor. All three individuals were incredibly professional and courteous throughout the process and they completed our move within the required four hour window for Saturday. We tipped each one of them $25 and they seemed appreciative of the gesture. I would absolutely use them again. read more

I am really delighted with my experience with Two Men and a Truck. I have never used a moving company before, and I wasn't sure what to expect. From my initial phone call for information to the preparation of the final bill, everyone I dealt with was polite and professional. The person who gave me a quote said they would send 2 movers and it would take between 4 and 5 hours. They ended up sending 3, and the whole thing only took 2 hours. The movers- Darius, Ray, and Lloyd were fast, efficient, and very friendly. Best of all, the total came in almost $200 under estimate! I would use this company again, and I would recommend them to a friend. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they have one of those old fashioned credit card machines, so the entire number shows up on the paperwork. Well....I have to say that some of my friends said "why not get a well known mover to move your home." I told them I was using Two Men and a Truck...and it was the best decision I ever made. In my many moves in my lifetime I had some real horror stories with damage and really rough treatment. When your men arrived at my apt. promptly they discovered that even though it was Monday morning ...no one left for work and there was no easy access to my front door. The man in charge said "Mr. Johnson, we can move you today but with the distance to the truck due to the lack of parking this move will cost you so much more. Let us come back tomorrow when you can arrange to have space reserved for us". I was elated that you cared enough. The next day instead of three men as was contracted you sent a fourth at no additional charge. Again...you made it so easy for me. The four men, each and every one was friendly, helpful and treated my things as if they were their own. They also made my pre arranged possible three to four hours..to a flat two hour job. I had expected to pay so much more for my move. So, I guess you can say that I was more than pleased, more than satisfied and not one item was broken or scratched.
