We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

The movers were very accommodating of our circumstances and planned the day accordingly. Somewhere during the move, we collectively realized that the move was much larger than we had thought (it took 11 hours in total); however, this did not deter Sal and team and they methodically shuttled our belongings into our new house with no complaints or grumbling. They were recommended to me by a colleague who lives on the same street hat I just moved. Sal was very easy to deal with and did a good job of helping me to lay out our move by going through room-by-room to get an estimate of time. He was basically dead right on his estimate, they may have even worked a little quicker. Day of the move, the truck is on location at exactly the time they said they would be. Sal looks like a much better looking Ozzy Osbourne if Ozzy left out the black hair dye for a while, and was nice as can be to work with. He and his crew quickly and tirelessly removed every box and item of furniture from our previous home without a single issue, and even did some extra stuff to help me out in moving another piece of furniture that we couldn't take until a later date! They quickly stopped for lunch on the way to the destination house and it was impossible to tell they had even stopped! They must have eaten very quickly, probably in the truck on the way. Navigating up my narrow one-way street was done without issue, and they parked right in front of the house. They unloaded the [completely full] truck very quickly and did not stop for more than a sip of water. Everything went where I asked them to put it, and they reassembled every piece of furniture that was disassembled, very promptly. All in all I am very pleased with their service, the care they took with my possessions, and the friendliness of the interactions we had (with the whole crew). This aggressive legal tactic attempts to strip consumers of their right to due process in court, and it has been explicitly illegal in Maryland consumer contracts since 2020. Furthermore, their opening paragraph states they "in no event function... as an interstate or intrastate common carrier." This is a massive red flag, as it appears to be a deliberate loophole to dodge the state's mandatory cargo insurance and liability protections that legitimate movers are required to carry. Upon requesting that Doyle strike these clauses from their contract, they refused to do so, because they "do over 1,000 moves a year and send the same contract to every customer we service." Unfortunately, that contract contains illegal and predatory language.

Though the reviews for A Best Twin Movers are mediocre, I went with them anyways because this was a last minute move for me. And Norman was incredibly professional and was happy to take on this move. The 2 movers arrived at the exact scheduled time and did a superb job with moving all of our items. What we were moving was equivalent to a 1bdr apt and going into a storage unit. They were very careful with all of the furniture and the fragile items. Norman even called the day before to confirm everything with me. They were speedy and cheap! Such a great price compared to other places I called. They don't charge for mileage or tack on driving fees, but do have a 3 hour minimum (which is nicely competitive though in comparison to other companies that have a 4 hour minimum). And when it was all said and done, I was charged exactly what I was quoted on the phone and quoted in my estimate (which btw, the estimate is very thorough and clear.) I definitely appreciate every aspect of this move, the professional customer service, the thorough and clear paperwork, and the efficiency of the movers; especially after having a recent bad experience with Travelstead, who tacked on insurance and driving fees in the end, and charged for a 4 hour minimum. I definitely recommend using Parkville Movers/Annapolis Best Twin Movers/A Best Twin Movers, or whatever they are calling themselves. As long as you speak with Norman/Noam the Relocation Consultant or the President, Isaac, you will be taken care of and in good hands.
