If you are looking for a totally unique dining experience in Fresno and don't need the upscale…read morepretension of white linen table cloths and wine list that proves you are the 1%, then consider Tower Urban Family Farm for one of their quarterly dinners. The brothers Schmidt not only grow their own produce on one of their urban plots, one of the brothers is also a trained chef turn farmer so this is truly, insert buzz phrase here, farm to fork at its most micro level. If you are a Fresno native you probably remember eating at Echo in the Tower District before they went big headed to the north side and then went out of business, this is probably the closest thing in terms of food quality, taste, originality, and new flavors that I can find in Fresno. Since they grow their own produce, it is one part Manresa located in Saratoga, and one part Chez Panisse since they use the freshest ingredients possible, and throw in a dash of food truck "hipsterism." You eat at a communal outdoor wood table made from an recycled bowling lane in their garden/farm. Any other restaurants being this creative in Fresno? If so please share. As for the food/menu, it will be seasonal. We had sun gold bloody marys infused with lemon grass vodka, which was a totally unique and fresh flavor combination, watermelon soup garnished with finger limes (anyone else using those in Fresno?), smoke quail stuffed with bacon over a bed of tomato ragu blended with spaghetti squash, and radish cheese cake with watermelon juice drizzled on the plate. Nobody in Fresno is offering up flavors like this and executing on them except these guys. Thrown in all you can drink local wine for $55 along with 2 - 3 hours and you have a unique evening. So, again, if you are looking for something a little off beat, a little funky, with new flavors, and some of the best tasting produce grown just feet away from where you consume it, then keep an eye out for the quarterly dinners.

Thank you to Ashley and everyone at Simonian Farms for helping to make our 40th high school reunion…read moreevent so successful! Everything from the venue's beautiful grounds, dining/bar setup, options of amenities, its proximity to lodging, and food/catering choices were top-notch and many people who attended were extremely complimentary. So much so, that I am going to include some of the comments from our attendees in this review. Here's what our attendees had to say: "Beautiful yet comfortable casual atmosphere", "Casual yet felt very upscale...wonderful hometown hospitality", "hidden gem", "amazing atmosphere for reunions, family gatherings, and other events", and "perfect venue for our reunion...indoor/outdoor aspect works well...there was more room to accommodate a larger group, if necessary". Ashley was extremely flexible with our plans when changes came up, and she always made sure that we had everything we needed (right down to the last minute patio heaters for the surprise cooler weather!) It goes without saying that we would not hesitate to hold another high school reunion at Simonian Farms in the future! Sanger High Class of 1985 Reunion Committee

A nice little stop if you need a break from your long drive. This is a great place to stop…read moreespecially if you have kids because they have food and a little play area with a petting zoo in the back. And for the adults they have adult drinks! They also have a Store where they sell, knickknack stuff, toys, and snack. Food was good but the portions are small! They also have a bar for those that would like an alcoholic drink. There's an ice cream bar as well with different flavors.

So this review is on customer service only because I haven't picked up my product yet…read more On Thursday April 21, 2016 I attended a career fair at Fresno high school as a college representative. During the fair the Coordinators and us a raffle ticket. That several local companies had donated products and gift certificates to be raffled off at the career fair. I want a $20 gift certificate to first quality produce. I had never heard of this company so I promptly called the number on the gift certificate to find out more about them. Unfortunately I called after business hours so was unable to connect with them on Thursday. However, Friday morning at 9:00 in the morning I received a phone call from a woman named Katrina she explained to me how to use my gift certificate and that it should be in the system already. I went onto the website to order and found that the certificate number wasn't working. I called the company back and left them a message about the issue. Not only did Katrina call me back within minutes but I order to save me the hassle of going on line again during me work day she placed the order for me. I then had a question about one of the other products they offer. She answered that with ease and was able to adjust my order so I got what I was really hoping for. All in all I love this companies standard of service. I've don't customer service/relations for 14 years so this level of professionalism is not lost on me. Katrina you and 1st quality produce have found a loyal customer if your product turns out to be half as good as you were. Thank you.

After finding out about this farmstand and a little about the history of the owner a few years ago…read moreon social media, I've been wanting to stop by. I finally had a chance this summer on a day off to take the 40 minute drive and check it out. I was not disappointed. This is a small but year-round farm stand right off the side of the road with gravel space for cars to park. It is not greatly protected from the elements--and it was a hot hot day. I'm glad to see they at least had a few fans for the employees. The owner regularly works her stand, and when I was there, she offered to cut some fresh herbs or flowers for me while I perused the wonderful assortment of fruits, veggies and local honey. I ended up with some of the sweetest green grapes I've ever tried, a few different honeys to try (avocado and orange blossom), some freshly roasted peanuts, cucumbers, and an assortment of stone fruit. Everything was delicious, but the grapes were my favorite. Check out Sweet Girl Farms on Social media, or check out their website. They are active in the community, help to support other community growers (they even have eggs and other offerings), and enjoy a worthwhile visit to what should soon obtain the title of local treasure. I may not be able to stop by every week, but I hope to be a several times a year regular. This place is wonderful!
