Is this place beautiful or WHAT?? Especially late October, wow!! Ok so we came here because it was advertised with our hotel (the Flamingo) that guests could receive a free tasting. However, we were informed when we arrived that they do not partner with Flamingo, and their tasting room was full for the day. Oh well. We visited the shop, where we were able to purchase a glass of wine each, as well as cheeses and salami that they sliced and put on a cheese board for us. Service and wine were both decent. Bummer that they don't honor what Flamingo advertises, but that's ok. We still had a nice time here, and it makes for great photos! read more

One of the most beautiful buildings and grounds I've been on whist wine tasting. The gothic architecture just makes you feel like you're entering a vampire's mansion with the beautiful Sonoma hills in the backdrop. Even on a gray and rainy day, this place still looked special. I went on a weekday so I was able to do a casual wine tasting, standing in a bar area, without rezzies. On a weekend or with a group, I'm pretty sure you have to make rezzies. There are different tasting packages, some are sit-downs with someone bringing your pours and probably to a nice view. The casual one I did was $45 and a couple of bartenders are there to man both ends of the bar. I think a $45 fee that can't be waived or applied to a wine purchase is a bit much but I will do one occasionally. But to their credit they do pour a good number of tastes, and you just have to acknowledge the real estate that your butt is in. I paid for *cool* points. The pourers were nice and knowledgeable and poured a few more than what the list had. The wines here are very full and quite bold, nothing light and whimsical. I tasted one rose but requested the rest be reds. It was a fun ride as we tasted several Rhone grapes, a pinot, a merlot and a Port made with zin grapes. And they even gave me a square of dark chocolate to pair with the bolder reds, which I already do at home, so this just hit home with me. I didn't get to roam too much inside the mansion but there is a big gift shop where you get your wines, souvenirs and even picnic goods if you wanna nibble amongst wine country. When you pull up this winery has beautiful entry doors and when you enter the long wooden staircase it feels like something out of succession. We really liked the wines and bought a couple of bottles. We appreciate some details about the wines and their background, but it was a good balance of not being too long winded or feeling like a history lesson. read more

Ledson is a stunning winery that you honestly should visit. It's can feel a little off the path but we are so glad we decided to make a last minute stop here. The grounds are stunning and the building is beautiful and feels very much like a castle. We really enjoyed the different tasting areas they had and they have this gorgeous outdoor area with a fountain facing the vineyards. There is plenty of parking here although I'm not sure if it's the same during busy times. Ledson had some of the best wines that we tried during our entire Sonoma trip. They had excellent red wines that met several different styles and types and I don't think there was a single one we disliked. Our server had a lot of information on the different wines we tried and even gave us some history on Ledson and how it all got started. I highly recommend you visit this winery! read more

The property was gorgeous and worth a visit. The wines were good, but I only felt like one was really very "special" and it was off the tasting list. Service was average. We were greeted and asked to pay at the front door in advance by credit card, which seems a bit odd and sterile. Do they have a lot of wining/dining and ditching? I wouldn't think so. The rooms in the mansion were gorgeous. Our host was fine but fairly stuffy - a retired man who didn't seem to really love his job or people generally. Overall, we had a good experience, but the visit was not as warm as some of the other places in Sonoma valley. read more

In a nutshell; pretty neat vineyard, server/s was great, and some good cheeze. Usually only visit mansions of any kind for their great breakfast buffets, vineyard visits and Gatsby-esque parties and the Ledson Winery and Vineyards was a great experience overall. Did not arrive with the whole party at the time but we were still able to at least take a stroll of the vicinity for the time being. Once our whole party arrived , we were quickly seated and was greeted by our wonderful server. It would have been neat if you didn't have to get up from your seat to order more snacks and cheeses as you had to go to the store to procure them, still snacks and the cheeses were great. Stopped into Ledson on a visit to Napa for a glass of wine before another tasting and pairing. Beautiful winery and vineyard set on the grounds of an impressive estate. Without a scheduled tasting, were were invited into the wine/gift shop area. Here you can purchase wine by the glass or bottle, which you can enjoy while walking the grounds and vineyards. They also offered a tasting with 4 discounted wines that they were trying to get rid of, which was cool. There were two whites and two reds in the tasting. All of the employees were super kind and offered us lots of different item samplings, like various chocolate spreads made with wine, They were all really tasty. Ledson specializes in reds, however, it was a warm day and we wanted something cold to have outside, so we got a bottle of chardonnay and four glasses. The chardonnay was pretty good and light, I enjoyed it as someone who doesn't really like chardonnay. Perfect place for all of the typical Napa photo ops. read more

Whenever I visit Sonoma, I stay at the Ledson hotel. During my last visit, I decided to finally book a tasting at the Ledson vineyard. I booked the first time slot on a Thursday so it was completely empty, which was great. There is a store conveniently located next to the tasting room where you can pick out meats and cheeses and for a fee, they will slice and plate it for you to eat during your tasting. They also offer prepared charcuteries. The grounds are beautiful too. After your tasting, get a few photo ops in front of the beautiful estate. read more

Grumpy old staff yelling at you if walk in front yard to take pictures . After spending almost 400 worth of wine stopped by the general public corridor of flowers and a disgraceful staff came out to scream at me. This is not how you treat your patrons . No one is swimming in your water fountain especially many, many, many yards away from it (what a grossly unrefined and derogatory way to treat visitors and yelling at your customers). It shows very little decorum the way I was treated by that staff . Everyone else was very nice. read more

Thought it could not get worse than FC vineyard, but it happened! First off, people are greeted like if it's a McDonald's; despite the need to have scheduled appointments! Of the many vineyards we made an appointment at, this is the only one that did not acknowledge us by name and made us feel unwelcome. Next, we were sat in an open space with two other couples who were also there at the same time. The kicker here is we reserved a private tasting. (We checked and double checked to see if we had made a mistake, but we didn't; yet when asked we were told that it showed as the basic seated tasting with others). Finally, the service during the tasting was amazingly bad! The person serving was not only unprofessional, but really should not be serving for them at all! He spent have the time telling us how much he hated the white wines and won't drink them. Not once did he acknowledge my husband except to chastise him and hit him with the tasting menu. We learned nothing about the vineyard, the winery, the winemaker or anything about the wines! It was truly abysmal! We have never experienced anything so bad in wine tasting! What a delight to spend some time in this majestic gingerbread like castle! We were pleasantly surprised by meeting the sheep family who is doing the 'weeding duty' by enjoying the grass in the vineyard. We then met Conner, the 20 years old associate, who generously gave us a private tour. I leaned about rockpile wine from the inactive volcanic soil that's extremely fertile for growing grapes. We've been to Ledson many times over the years, the last time being about 15 years ago. Back then, the wines were decent but nothing really stood out for me. Fast forward to yesterday, and wow, big changes in the quality of the wines. The Zins, Cabs, and even Petite Sirah (which I usually don't like) were all tasting fantastic. They had a deal on a "mystery" case which we just couldn't pass up. We might be coming back in the Spring and if we do we will certainly be stopping by once again. read more

The building caught our attention while driving to our hotel. We stopped by to check it out. They had just opened and the place was empty. The grounds are so beautiful. The castle building is something out of a movie. It's gorgeous. Large tasting rooms and also outdoor picnic tables on the side garden. You can purchase snacks, charcuterie boards, wine and have a picnic outside. Or you can chose a standing tasting or a sit down tasting. Prices are reasonable. We purchased a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon to try at home since we couldn't stay and do a tasting. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Sonoma to have a full on experience. The reason for the missing star is for customer service. Two ladies at the door barely spoke to us when we walked in. We had to approach them and ask if we can have a look around and visit the marketplace to get some snacks and wine. read more

You gotta be kidding me with this place. In pictures it looks like an impressive historical architectural landmark. When you get there you see the modern construction is trying hard to be Gothic mansion, but only pulls off McMansion. We had to buy glasses of wine in the gift shop, from cashiers who didn't seem to know what any of the wines available tasted like. The one I tried tasted like someone ran some Thunderbird and grape jelly through a blender. This place did a lot to kill our good vibes from other wineries we visited that day. This is where the villians of Gotham go after being defeated by Batman. Come here if you are sad and need to drown your sorrows in mediocre wine. When we ordered a glass, the staff member who assisted us didn't know the difference between a Pinot noir and Pinot Grigio which should have been our sign to run. She asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. If we chose outside they would need to give us plastic cups as if we're children. We opted to sit inside. I didn't even finish my $13 glass of wine given how comically bad it was. I think boxed wine would have been better. We left right when a drunk party arrived, probably won't remember how awful the wine was the next morning which is probably why their still in business. read more

Firstly, what a beautiful building. I was told that this was originally built to be a residence but was then turned into the tasting room for Ledson Wines. Very classic brick with vines and fountain in the foreground. The interior is very traditional with wood throughout. This was my first visit to Ledson due to a friend being a super duper member (like a case every other month or something like that) and being able to experience a private tasting experience which is usually $95 per person. We were in one of the rooms upstairs that had it's own private bathroom complete with clawfoot bathtub. (Thankfully I didn't work up too much of a sweat tasting wine so I can't comment on the quality of using the bath.) Unfortunately I don't recall the name of our host, but the pours were generous and he brought out a few wines that were not on the tasting menu. Did I enjoy the wines? Absolutely. My favorite surprisingly enough was the 2016 Merlot ($74). Very smooth, with lots of red fruit undertones. I feel like it's the underdog of wines sometimes. I was pleasantly surprised to discover their cellar door sales. They had a drinkable rosé that would be perfect for warm evenings...or pizza night. It was priced to go at $8 a bottle. I should have bought a case. They had a variety of good value blends for under $30. You can also taste these (albeit in plastic cups) in the shop downstairs. read more

One of our favorite vineyards in the Napa/Sonoma area. Not only do they have fantastic wine, but also one of the most gorgeous tasting rooms, excellent service and personable employees. We made reservations for the tasting, which happened to be one of the most enjoyable tastings on our trip. Not just because the wine was great, but also because their wine specialists are super knowledgeable and fun. The interior of the "castle" was gorgeous. This winery was suggested by a coworker. We were quickly seated for our reservation and greeted by Tom our host. We ordered some cheese that was brought to our table. Not having been here before, we assumed it would all come on one bill but the cheese bill arrived with the plate and gratuity added. Tom got us tasting through the list of wines. There were some really great wines. He was very accommodating and friendly. If I had to nitpick- the descriptions always included the awards they received for said vintage. For us- we weren't impressed by the awards. More by wanting to hear about the wines. Which he also described very well. The cheese pairing was good and in the end we enjoyed a number of their wines we shipped home! read more

It's the second closest winery to my house and I was always fascinated with it because it looks like a beautiful haunted house however when you find out about the architecture when you go there it's modern belt to look like that but beautiful nonetheless! Interesting variety of wines and they have a couple of different types of tasting. You can do your own samples from someone that works there or you can do a tasting -one more intense with a nice array of wines and and a slightly less involved tasting that's probably a bit shorter timewise than the other. One of the employees, Conner who is studying the art of wine in college currently, spent a lot of time talking to me and my friend about the different wines and what they taste like and let us take a tasting of a couple of them. We decided on a bottle and they provided the plastic wine glasses to go outside and sit and enjoy the garden and then take the rest to go.. I had never seen this wine elsewhere but the wines are interesting and the building again is gorgeous! They're coming out soon with a five blend red wine which I can't wait to try! When I used to fly to Australia a lot 30 years ago they were very into blends which they were not here yet. Everything was pure Cabernet, Etc and I loved the Australian blends because you kind of got the best of all of them. So five blends sounds amazing! It's a little more than I sometimes spend on wines, the one we got with tax was $90 and has a really distinct taste to it that is hard to describe. It's a bottle that had been around for a long time but he guaranteed it was great. It wasn't our favorite but we weren't about to complain. I will definitely be back to try others! read more

What a beautiful winery, vineyard, and mansion! This was such an amazing first stop on our Napa/Sonoma wine day. We received a $35 tasting at one of their tasting bars and we absolutely loved the man pouring for us. He was so friendly and fascinating. He knew when to entertain us, tell us about the wines, and when to leave us alone to chat and sip our wine. It was a gorgeous place to sip some really delicious wines. Unfortunately much of the surrounding hillside was burned by the 2017 and 2019 fires, but it is still a picturesque area. read more
