Visited this winery during Sonoma Sips event ( Feb 15-Mar 15, 2025) . What a fantastic way to experience a new winery with the offering of a $15 tasting. The setting is beautiful with the magnificent redwood trees and the stylish finished barn tasting room. There is outside seating with umbrella coverage for shade. Our host (Lori) was amazing sharing so much knowledge about the wines and was very friendly making us feel like regulars when it was our first visit. The tasting came with rustic crackers ( my favorite brand btw). This is a very relaxed unpretentious tasting experience. We were offered a couple extra tastes of our hosts favorites. I don't think there has ever been a winery that has stuck in my mind like kenwood. Every single pour was unique and flavorful. But not in the bitter scrunch your face kind. Its flavor in the way that your eyebrows shoot up, your nose flares, and your taste buds ignite because the profile is unexpected! We all loved the wine so much that some girls purchased memberships and the rest of us took bottles home! The property is beautiful and the staff are so engaging wit the history behind the vineyard that the time goes by quickly. This place gets an extra star just for being so accommodating! My group of 6 had reservations for another winery, but due to the immense amount of snow they received the night before, we weren't able to go to that original winery. That winery suggested this place, and they were so accommodating to host our group of six last minute the first thing in the morning. It gives rustic with the beautiful barn entry. Since we were the first of the day it was just our group so it made it feel a lot more intimate. The rest of our schedule was already booked so the host moved relatively quickly so that we could experience all of the wines in the tasting. They offered breadsticks to help clean our pallets, which was greatly appreciated! And, she even opened and served some of their sparkling wine to celebrate my birthday. This place wouldn't have been my first choice, but I am so glad that we came! My wine score is based solely for my palette which favors whites and light reds. Went here for a tasting with my husband and friends yesterday. It was our first time trying this winery; the reason we did is because our friends were bringing their dog. So I looked up dog-friendly spots and found this one. We were warmly welcomed by Laurie. She was not at all fazed by us being a few minutes late. She poured us their crisp sparkling wine as we arrived, and soon led us to our beautifully set lounge table outside for our full tasting. We had chosen to focus on their whites and rosés, but Laurie also graciously offered us bonus pours of any red wines we wanted to try. We tried two delicious Pinot Noirs, which we ended up purchasing along with some whites. The individually set cheese plates that accompanied the tasting were an unexpected delight! Each one featured four excellent cheeses, including Estero Gold from Valley Ford, Toma from Point Reyes, and other local favorites. Laurie guided us on which cheese would pair best with each wine. Our plates also featured honeycomb, olives, a phenomenal olive oil, and plenty of artisan crackers -- which Laurie attentively refilled for us. Plus each person's plate was sprinkled with edible flowers. Such a thoughtful touch! Between Laurie's gracious service, delicious wines, artful cheese plate, and comfortable setting -- we're so glad we picked Kenwood Vineyards! We'll be coming back for sure. read more

Walt who served us our flight was soooo awesome. He's been the best so far. He was genuine and I felt like everything he said was from the heart and not to sell. I definitely enjoyed my time here. The charcuterie board was so good. The sourdough crackers are so delicious and the hot mustard. I will def come back!!! Also barns are here as well for picture taking. We showed up at the time of our tasting appointment, only to find it was raining . The staff recommended we might want to reschedule...if they were game, so were we, since the Covid-19 regulations said we had to be outside. Josh did a great job of walking us through the wine selections . He has a degree in Viticulture from UC Davis and has just celebrated his 5 year anniversary at Kenwood. Both he and the lovely woman who shared her expertise, were excellent hosts for an enjoyable outing. I should mention the setting was also beautiful...the original Kenwood Barn, beautiful vineyards and the majestic redwood trees. read more

After trying the Six Ridges Pinot years ago, I knew I had to Kenwood some day in person! Seriously have the best time on this beautiful property under the sunshine being guided by Laurie! She really personalized the experience to us and made it feel like a one on one interaction while helping other people at the same time! She asked what was our favorite varietal and being big Pinot fans, snuck in a special little tasting for us outside the main menu. Really just awesome customer service. We were staying in Santa Rosa for our anniversary just to get away from the house for a day and stopped in to Kenwood for some winetasting. We didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us. They followed all the protocols for safety. We enjoyed the flight of wines both whites and reds. It was a beautiful sunny day in November in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It's hard to believe we live less than 30 miles from here. We will try and make an effort to get up here more often. read more

Originally we started at a different winery (they were only "ok") - but came to Kenwood winery and the service was fantastic! We had a really positive experience at Kenwood Vineyards. We were seated on a comfortable outdoor couch and enjoyed the views during the tasting. The sommelier that helped us was extremely knowledgeable on the wines and the area in general. The tasting consisted of smaller batch wines vs their production products that you would commonly find in stores and were quite good. After a couple mediocre (and overpriced) tasting experiences I found Kenwood to have a great product, experience, and value. Definitely give it a try on your next trip. read more

This is a lovely winery just off the main road, so it is easy to get to. We went in January, so we sat indoors as it was on the cold side, but the seating areas outside were still full. The young man pouring our wines was just delightful - very friendly and informative. He made an effort to find out what we liked, and then catered our tasting to that. Kenwood was the first vineyard we visited while we were in Sonoma. We really enjoyed the laid back environment. The woman who guided our tasting was very personable and brought out some champagne for us since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. As far as the wine goes, we loved their Chardonnay. It had an initial oaky flavor which was very unique. We ended up enjoying all of the wine but bought a bottle of the Chardonnay since we liked it so much. This place is indeed set in a beautiful spot and we were looking forward to a tasting. We had a reservation at 4:00 and arrived 15 minutes late due to a previous tasting going overtime. Very sadly, we were told they stop tastings after 4:00 and that we could enjoy wine by the glass. Very disappointing news. We've been in the area for a couple months and participated in many tastings at local vineyards and tasting rooms. Most post their open hours and are just fine starting a tasting before closing time. Kenwood closes at 5:00 and does not offer tastings after 4:00. There are a couple wineries that have a similar policy. Call and ask before you go I guess! This policy just doesn't make sense. Lost business and goodwill. Lost our business - we walked and found a great alternative tasting and purchased some bottles to take home. read more

While in Sonoma, my partner and I visited the Kenwood Vineyards. At the time of our arrival, the tasting room was busy .... but the staff was adequate to handle the number of patrons. The interior had a nice look and feel with a faint, almost hypnotically tempting .. aroma of wine. The gentleman who poured for us was, of course, helpful and congenial. After tasting several reds, I settled on the 2013 Jack London Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon. The Jack London grapes are grown midway up the Eastern flanks of the Sonoma Mountain. This location, I am told, affords a long mild growing season which promotes fruit with complexity and balance. My experience at Kenwood Vineyards was awesome! The wine are great and our server Walt was really nice and knowledgeable. We made reservations on a weekday and it wasn't too busy, the tasting was at a good pace and we never felt rushed. I believe the flight is $28 pp. We tasted four wine and my personal favorite was The Barn Chardonnay and the Rugged Elements Arrowhead Cabernet Sauvignon! They also have a sparkling Blanc de Blancs and it was so good, I bought a bottle to take home. read more

This was our first stop on our date-day wine tasting. It wasn't that great. The service was poor, we were not even greeted when we entered or stood there for 10 minutes; we should have left then. But we didn't. There were two small (2-4) groups tasting and two wine attendants. Both were serving, they looked up and saw us standing at the counter, but again, we were not greeted. After 10 minutes we were asked if we wanted a tasting, and we had already decided from grabbing the menus ourselves and looking them over while waiting. The host was nice, but rushed through our tasting; and i was shorted a tasting on my flight. On top of everything, we bought the blanc de blancs champagne, which was very good. Here's the kicker- we paid for our tastings, $25 each and then the champagne, $22. So, we left spending $72 on a crappy experience; at least we had champagne. Definitely will not return or suggest Kenwood tasting room. I would rather give my money to an establishment that cares about their patrons. read more

This really is a must do, because it's truly, an amazing wine tasting experience. Fortunately, for us, we landed with JOSH, who was friendly, knowledgeable and just down right perfect to set the tone and mood for our wine tasting. I brought another person with me and we each did different tastings and it worked out well because we shared the wines together to get in both whites and reds. I actually, enjoyed every pouring as each wine definitely stood out for crispness and yet the right balance for each grape varietal. Bottled under several quality tiers. Priced from just $5 per bottle up to $40. The most expensive wines are NOT necessairly the best. I usually hate Zinfandel. I LOVE the $14 Kenwood Sonoma Zin. Although the man pouring our wine wasn't a great personality, he was still friendly and knowledgeable. I like when they'll pour you something they like themselves. The whites stood out to me more than the reds, but of course, wine is always personal preference. I would say I was a fan of the chardonnay & Moscato! I am a huge fan of Kenwood Vineyards. The staff is amazing. Friendly, knowledgable, and very professional. You can tell they love their jobs and helping customers. The wine is also delicious. I am a wine club member and have yet to taste one I didn't enjoy. The value is exceptional. I just bought a mixed case of red and white wine for less than $15 a bottle with free shipping to my door. I chose all of the bottles!!! How great is that? The grounds are very pretty and centrally located in Kenwood off of Highway 12. It is close to many other great wineries so it is easy to hit 5-6 in a half-day or a quick stop on the way to Sonoma, but be careful about staying sober or have a DD. I am looking forward to my next pick up this week and highly recommend tourists or locals to stop in for a tasting. You will not regret it. read more
