Got here right when they opened for lunch. Service was quick and polite. Ordered a pork tenderloin with fries. Fries were very good with some nice crunchy breading. The tenderloin was huge but a little overdone and dry. All in all the meal was good!

A pleasant atmosphere greets you when you dine at T & D's.

Anamosa is a great, small city in the heart of Iowa. I love the fact that this city is investing in a beautiful downtown area with a variety of merchants, charm and (during the holiday season) piped in Christmas music to accompany your stroll. Tyler & Downing's (known as T & D's to the locals) is one of the reasons why you should visit Anamosa. Check out the pictures of the old grocery store that was founded by the current owner's great grandfather and you will see why T & D's is A-OK! Converted into a restaurant in 2004, the history of this building is still felt, with modern feel for the restaurant decor. The bar selection is decent, but could be improved. My recommendation would be to have at least two bottles of wine that you would not find in HyVee on the $10 or less rack. Not being a snob here, but having enjoyed good wine vs. cheap wine, I would be willing to pay for the good stuff with a good meal. That leads me to the very tasty $24 prime rib dinner I enjoyed. The cut was about 14 oz. and very tasty. I prefer my prime rib medium-rare, which means some juice but not raw. If I were to repeat my order in the future, I would order rare. It was just a bit too dry otherwise. Complimented with grilled zucchini and a baked potato, the meal was overall good. My friend had the pesto pasta and unfortunately, did not enjoy it. Way too much on the pesto. Overall, this experience was a good one with a friendly staff, inviting atmosphere and food for almost any appetite.

The best smoked chicken wings in the USA. Callie & Dirk were wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu. We had a great time!!!

Dirk and Callie were awesome. The menu was amazing and they truly have the best smoked apple chicken wings in the USA. The pumpkin martini is to die for!!

Memorabilia from when the building functioned it was a store.

Tyler & Downing's is unique. It once was a grocery store and meat market. The interior is decorated with memorabilia from when it was a grocery store. It looks very inviting. There is a bar and it appears to be stocked with a variety of Iowa brewed beers and other hard liquor. While there I ordered a 1/2lbs hamburger and the onion straws for dinner. The burger tasted great and so did the onion straws which were more like onion rings. Others in my party ordered the flat bread pizza which were really medium sized pizza's. I sampled several pieces of pizza and found it to taste good. My rating is mainly for the burger. The only issue I had while there is that service was slow. Otherwise I would recommend going there when in Anamosa.

Wonderful burgers and service! Great atmosphere and not noisy so you can hear each other, unless there's a big party going.

Cute place with history. Service was very slow. No one greeted us, had to flag someone down. Food was well prepared.

We stopped in today while visiting town and really enjoyed our meals! It's a bit on the expensive side, but the food was great.

It is a rustic setting, but don't think the décor of Cracker Barrel, it is much nicer than that. Try the upper level outdoor deck for a ideal view of the Iowa agricultural heaven. The menu is varied, with something for everyone. Our party had four different entrees, with remarks like 'very good' and 'ok'. French Onion soup was pretty good for starters, made with swiss cheese, my preference is mozzarella, but still tasty. We shared the Pig Sty dessert, which was large enough for 4 to share. Specials on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons. Our server, Jordan, was excellent. Attentive, but not overbearing at all, willing to explain the menu, and give some info on the barn itself. He also answered our question about the upstairs, reservable, Lover's nook, which is quite unique. He also asked how our food was at the end of the meal, and...he actually asked what they could do to make a dish better. That is a plus. Will most likely return to try some of the other dishes, being as it is a very nice pastural drive. If the food can consistently match the atmosphere I could bump up the rating without question.

Full bar, big pours of wine and local beers. Relaxing atmosphere could see it getting loud during the busy times. We didn't save room for dessert but was highly recommended. Gluten free options on the menu even though we didn't need them. Small pond out back.

It located across from the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds on W. Lotus Street. They have a mixed menu of American and Thai dishes they offer. The Gypsy Highway's vibe is a cross between nostalgic late 70's, early 80's biker bar, live indoor/outdoor music venue, while being a full service restaurant and bar. They also have a small arcade in the back a few what look to be video poker or slot machines by the bar, 3 very large LED displays strategically placed around the bar and a massive projection screen TV on the indoor stage when nobody's playing. Sorry I didn't get to look outside at the wood fenced in area, where the wooden outdoor stage is. There is lots of seating and they even have dance nights, local bands perform regularly, and other events. Like when I went there was Trivia Night. This place has been a long time local scene in the West End of Davenport, IA for decades. Couple of the downsides about the atmosphere is the noise. It's Loud. For off hours and a Trivia Night, but not loud enough that you can't hear the person talking across a large round table ment for a party of 8-10 people. The amount of flashing lights in the place. If you have any issues with flashing lights you might not want to visit. There is not a single sight line place inside that does have some sort of constantly flashing light. Even lights that would have been of at any other venue or palace that host bands at their establishments wouldn't run strong stage color ambient lights on, especially those sitting behind a massive screen. Anyone sitting in the back and looking towards the stage (even though those seats not that many but unlucky) are in for a painful night out, if not there for a band. The food is 50/50 depending on what you get. Presentation wise I would give it 80 to 100%. I was with my family and got to try 4/5 dishes. They I had the Yellow Curry w/ Shrimp. I have to say it was really good. It was sweet and savory the Jasmine rice was delicious with it. My only complaint with the dish was it should have been served in served in a bowl of some kind and w/ some Naan bread to help clean the bowl at the end. Serving on a plate made the dish hard to eat. Next up Chicken Tinders and an order of Onion Rings. This should be avoided at all costs!! They look great, but have absolutely zero flavor and taste. That's hard to do when the batter is supposed to be Bear Batter. Same with the french fries. Next is a Cheese Burger w/ (+) Bacon and Onion Rings instead of the Fries. Well the burger was well made and delicious. The Bacon was thick crisp and 4 slices which was good. The replaced Onion Rings well that part gets worse. The count was a measly 5 and not even large ones at that! Last one I got to try was the blackens grilled fish. It was a fillet of haddock covered with some sort of white gravy served with a few pieces of zucchini and a couple of red potatoes halved. I didn't get to try the veg. The fish I did. By itself it was pretty good, but with the gravy it was not noticeably, not as good to almost being tasteless. The gravy overwhelms the fish and doesn't complement, nor enhance the flavor. The waitress we had was nice and answered our questions promptly. She did check in with us from time to time. Overall she gets a 9/10. Hope y'all like my review and read next time. Sorry no pics this time forgot my phone.
