It's brutal to say the least. And I was where you are just a few months ago until I met Marjorie. After talking with her and letting her know my needs and checking in with her...after asking of course...she connected me to the apartment that's just right for me at this stage of my life. If it hadn't been for Marjorie, I'd still be looking for a place right now. Unfortunately the owner, Victoria, was very pushy: she tried brow-beating me into looking at apartments I knew were not going to be the right fit for me (very close to BQE, for example, when I said that noise would make an apartment a no-go for me). When I pointed out the issue I had with those apartments, she became confrontational and told me that at my price range I will be unlikely to find what I want. The interaction was strange and unpleasant. P.S. Owner sent me a really strange message that was somewhat apologetic, but also basically stated that it's not she didn't care what I wanted, it was that she was too busy at the moment to actually pay attention. During my first week here, I saw a 1BR on StreetEasy listed by Donawald Realty. Having experienced several "dream" listings suddenly going into contract within 24 hours of being posted, I was a little desperate and decided, on a complete whim, to pick up the phone and call the number on the website to try to get to the front of the line. Turned out to be my lucky day -- Lynn picked up and I asked her about the listing on StreetEasy and another I had seen on the site. As expected, both of those were either gone or already in contract, but she asked me what I was looking for, asked me some questions, and told me about an off-market listing that she was planning on posting the following day. She and her colleague Lee ended up letting me see the space the SAME afternoon (literally 30 minutes after the phone call). Lee was absolutely wonderful to work with. He gave me a detailed tour and was warm, kind, helpful, and professional, taking care to show me his license even though I didn't ask. He took the time to answer all my questions and let me apply first to the spot. I signed the lease the next day. All in all, it was a seamless process, with excellent communication throughout. Terrible experience with both…read more I set up a showing for an apartment, only to arrive and find an email waiting for me (from Person A) saying it had an application on file and was off-market for now; another email, sent later (from Person B), had more follow-up questions for the same address. When I asked them to confirm that the apartment was off the market, B asked me who told me that. I gave them A's contact number and did not hear back from either person. Meanwhile, I checked for a nearby apartment to look into, since I was now in the neighborhood for no reason, and found the second apartment. I texted A to ask if they had the number for the second listing, and A said they thought it was also already rented. That's when I noticed the address did not exist - the building listed was an address number skipped on that street. I went into the building that would have been next door to that address and confirmed that there was no building by that number. This is a FAKE LISTING. I suspect that I was ghosted because I did not provide information about a guarantor (whom they could rip off). Do not give Zuz Realty any sensitive information, do not give them any cash, and do not trust their listings before going to see them yourself. Additionally, in my initial phone call with A I was told they were "looking for nice people" to rent to. I believe that A believed I was the "right" demographic for the neighborhood, so I trust the reviewers who report experiences of prejudice. Overall extremely unhappy with this company! Zero recommendation!

I lived in an apt rented out to me by Sam for one year. The first thing I noticed was the apt being…read morekept with old things with expirations dated back to 2013, not to mention uncleanliness all around. I bit my tongue, cleaned up, and continued to make my home livable. Eventually there were more issues with appliances, one being the oven knob falling off. When I addressed this issue to Sam, he simply placed a knob from a completely difference appliance so that it was possible to turn, but the dials were not aligned. This could have caused a fire, since temperatures were not visible. The fridge needed repairing as well, and it took two separate occasions for Sam to finally replace it with a working one. Now, these are issues that I guess are common. One that really made me uncomfortable and I addressed Sam about very upset was that he and his other co-workers would enter my home unannounced and with their personal keys. There was not an ounce of respect when I verbalized this to them, just a smirk which gave me the idea that this was actually done on purpose. We were living there, being two young women and felt very uncomfortable. I also don't think if I was a man that I would feel differently. They would barge into our apt as if we were animals. I've never written a review for any establishment, and with my experience with Zuz I felt that it was necessary. Any Brooklyn College student that is trying to find a reasonable, respectable apt to live in should look elsewhere.

I have been trying to get my money back from this company ever since. They prey on young desperate poor people. But I read the small print and I DID not sign the contract.
