Green curry special
Matt R.

Garnishes four stars for its originality of cuisine. It fell a little flat though on the green curry special of the day though. Tacos were solid although a little pricy coming from a cart at $4 each when some brick and mortars are a better deal. Overall tasty but might check out the other cornucopia of cuisine in the area.

Lunch time!

Parking: street and most times it's hard to find a spot. Once risked getting a ticket by Parking in no parking zones just to get me my food. Smh. Lol. Food: I order the Korean BBQ burrito without cilantro and extra sauce. I really enjoy this. I only order this. Whenever I'm in the area I have to come get one. Around lunch time it can get busy and the line is long.

Tried the banh mi pork! Was finished pretty quickly, but I had just missed the lunch rush. The truck also features thai iced tea, rice bowls, and kimchi. There were some really fresh toppings on my bahn mi, but the pork was not what I was expecting for a bahn mi. Although pork quality wasn't there, there were some good parts to it. There are some fusion toppings on it so it's not just your straightforward Vietnamese roll, but it had the spice level and flavor that I remembered from the spicy mayo and pickled cabbage all topped on a pretty solid, light yet strong roll. I think the fusion threw me off a bit, but I enjoyed what I had. There are a few food trucks like this in the area, not sure if this is my favorite but I'll try a rice bowl, which it seemed like most people were getting! Or the short rib tacos.

The O.G. Dog.

This clearly should be on everyone's must stop list when it comes to a Night market event, or if seen in the city. These guys are legit, seriously they have some great combinations coming out of this truck. The O.G. dog is a grilled hot dog with short ribs that is covered with some shredded red cabbage over top with an aioli making it even better. All of this goodness on a roll, not an ordinary roll mind you, it was stacked and packed on a 6 inch roll that could barely hold everything in. Should be more like the "O.M.G. dog, and you should get it. They also have an amazing and refreshingly good Thai tea that needs to find its way in your hands. Add a little vodka to this , maybe some gin and now this is that perfect summer time cocktail. (21 and over mind you ) Keep up the good work guys!

Korean bbq short rib tacos

Tyson Bee is definitely a solid food truck option near the hospital or UPenns campus. The korean Mexican fusion is a welcome change to the food truck norm. The good: the korean bbq short run and sauce in the korean bbq tacos are to die for!!!! Sadly, the accompanying veggies and soft taco are hit or miss. The location is awesome for anyone working in the hospital area and it offers a different style of cuisine that isnt really seen elsewhere in the area. The bad: Cost ($8) for three small tacos. Ironically, as I love tyson for deviating from the food truck norm, I don't love that it also does so in price. I am used to getting a meal and a drink standard for $5 or less.

Something something lemongrass pork banh mi sandwich

'alright' food truck that I wouldn't mind revisiting if a friend asks to go but won't suggest going there myself. That pretty much sums up my sentiment. Ordered the lemongrass banh mi sandwich today and I've also tried their kimchi burrito before-- both of which are 'alright.' The banh mi had too much of a mayo-heavy sauce that reminded me of a crossover between siracha and thousand island & from what I remember, their kimchi burrito had weird bits of meatballs mixed with cheddar cheese that personally didn't float my boat. Not too bad though -- wouldn't mind going again during lunch. :P

Thai chicken and Korean rib tacos

I have eaten here a few times when I'm on Penn campus. The food seems to lose flavors over time. I usually get the Korean beef tacos with Thai iced tea. For the most part, the food was legit, even though the meat is very little. One of the things I love about tacos is that, you have a lot of food packed between a small tortilla, so you get such big flavor in a small bite. Tyson Bees double stacked their tortilla and gave very little meat so you ended up tasting more flour than protein. With that said however, Tyson Bees is still a staple at UPenn and I will probably continue to buy food from here. The reason why I had to give a lower star is because of the last time I was here. I ordered Thai iced tea and for some reason, it was so bad that day. The tea tasted like left over tea someone drank and the ice melted out. I couldn't finish it, it was bland. If you're looking to try something new and you're in the area, stop by, I don't recommend driving all the way here though. There's much better options throughout the city.

I usually love Korean Mexican fusions, and was really excited for this. However, as much as I wanted to really like the food, I was disappointed by the fact that their KBBQ short rib + kimchi burrito ($5!) was really 90% white rice with purple cabbage, and maybe 10% short rib and a few pieces here and there of kimchi. There were points throughout the burrito that I felt like I was just eating plain white rice with a wrap around it... at least flavor the rice. I don't think I will be coming back.

Banh Mi

Tyson takes food trucking to a whole different level. Yes, the concept isn't new. But it really rises to the top amongst your Honest Tom's and multiple cupcake trucks. It offers innovation and options. I mean, I love tacos, hot dogs and cupcakes...but not just that. Here's what I also like: I don't have to fcking chase the truck through tweets and what nots. I hate when I make the trek to said busy ass center city location and 1) can't find parking or 2) They're not there. Want a taco-Drexel, Cupcake-Upenn, Hot dog - God knows where at what time. Tyson's offers reliable stationary trucking, not to mention awesome service. To date, I've had just about everything on their menu, except the drinks. I love their tofu everything. (The burger is a big soggy and breaks apart, but they gave me a fork...so all is well) Give them a try, even if the line looks crazy. They usually move through it pretty fast. Plus there are plenty of wall ledges to sit and enjoy the day on.

Out of all the food trucks around University City, I think this place is one of my top 5 picks. The people that work there are super friendly and the food they offer is very unique, not something I can find at other food trucks. I can think of some better places to get pork buns *cough Chinatown cough* but for a food truck, they do a pretty good job at making them. The tacos aren't bad either. The korean bbq tacos didn't live up to the expectations I made in my head, but it wasn't bad. I think my favorite was the thai chicken basil taco. I'm definitely going back again to try the rest of their menu and their drinks. Cant beat a nice cold thai iced tea on a sunny spring day. Pros: Cool owners. Unique/tasty food Cons: Long lines during lunch

I graduated from college years ago, but I visited campus recently and had to check out how my…read morefavorite lunch spot was doing. I was surprised to see what was once a minimalistic metal cart had upgraded into a shiny red truck! The old phone number I had saved still worked to make an advance order, and when I showed up and took a photo of the new truck, the guy inside said, "been a while since you were here?" Been a while indeed. My spice tolerance has improved a lot since my first review; by the end of college I was getting medium instead of mild, which I also got this most recent time, but I think I can actually handle spicy now and will make a note to do that next time. The burrito is still the best I've ever had, and that includes what I ate in the Mission of SF. An absolutely enormous portion with juicy meat, cheese, salsa, pico, lettuce, rice, beans, and even a generous helping of avocado. And the tortilla is seared on the grill just right, giving it an extra crisp while sealing the whole package together. Not many burritos have all the details down so perfectly like that. Anyone who works or studies near Tacos Don Memo is lucky to have such an authentic, delicious, and affordable Mexican lunch spot around. They've been around for a while and I hope they will be for a while more!

Chicken burrito (3.5/5) I wanted to love this burrito since I've heard such good things about this food truck. The burrito was delicious but I felt like it needed way more sauce for its size. I also got the "hot" sauce and didn't taste anything spicy at all in it. the chicken was great and the flavor was good overall but it was definitely on the drier side. If i come again I'll try a burrito bowl if possible instead, and i'll definitely try to order online or call ahead instead of waiting 30 minutes again

As soon as I opened my plate, I was so disappointed that I lost my appetite. The rice was flavorless, the beans tasted like they came from a can, and the lettuce had no seasoning and had a terrible cheese on top of it. The meat was tough and flavorless, and I spent a good minute chewing because it was so hard. It was the worst $15 I've ever spent--I wouldn't even pay $2 for that meal. Terrible! If you're going to carry the name "Brazilian" on your food truck, PLEASE do it right. Even if it wasn't supposed to be Brazilian, it was still a terrible meal. On top of that, I waited more than 20 minutes for it to be made, along with several other people who were also complaining about the wait time. I will never get anything from this food truck again and do not recommend it to anyone.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Tangs's: Fresh. The second? Super friendly…read more I came across Tang's during my usual stake out of food trucks during lunch hour and decided to order a beef and broccoli over brown rice. What I was expecting was the run of the mill Chinese take out version of beef and broccoli: semi tough beef and overcooked broccoli swimming in grease and a large quantity of brown sauce. To my great delight what I got was the complete opposite - the beef was tender and the broccoli was a lively green and incredibly fresh. There was a light and just right amount of sauce and great helping of chili oil. The lady running the truck is so friendly, welcoming & nice (a stark contrast to the lady at Yue Kee). The wait is short and the prices are impressively cheap. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other items on their expansive menu!

I tried Tang's tofu with garlic/curry on brown rice…read more The best part is that the dish included a substantial serving of real vegetables. There was carrot, broccoli, cabbage, celery, and a bit of onion and green pepper (1 slice). There were 8 pieces of fried tofu in an extremely mild and not very flavourful "curry" sauce. Brown rice option comes at no extra cost. ($3.50) This seems to be one of the better options for Chinese food on campus. There's plenty of vegetables, it's not especially greasy. While the food wasn't particularly flavourful, it was fairly good clean food with a good helping of vegetables.
