    Chicken tacos

The tacos here were fine, but not really sure I'd go out of way to return here. I tried the chicken tacos, but now after reading the reviews I think maybe I got the wrong thing? The taco shells were good and warm and the avocado fresh, but the chicken just wasn't anything special.

Went around 5:30pm on a Saturday night. One other person in line. Waited about 10 minutes for our 5 tacos. These tacos are still just as good as all the other times I've eaten here. We ordered 2 El pastor and 3 beef tongue. El pastor tacos are Still my all time favorite.

Do you have $10? Don't even think about spending it anywhere else. This will get you 3 tacos al pastor, horchata, and you'll still be able to leave a $1 tip. They also serve burritos, quesadillas, and tortas, whatever option you choose will not be disappointed. You can see cops, construction workers, college students, families all waiting for their order here. I happily drive here to fulfill late night cravings. You can park in the parking lot at 10th & Washington. You can also call to order ahead. Cash only. It's so easy to support your local taco trucks!

Solid tacos in the city. I finally decided to check this place out as I've seen this a dozen of times and there's usually a good amount of people in line. We got both an order of tacos and a burrito. The tacos are by far the better choice. I like the fact that it comes with avocado. Fresh toppings and meat is tasty - got the al pastor. There are usually some locals there - so you know it's legit!

$2/ very tasty taco, open late, friendly service ~ what more is there to ask for! My friend has been telling me about this truck for at least a year now and now that I've finally tried it, I crave it all the time. Good thing I'm really close to here and can fulfill my cravings all the time =) I've only tried the tacos here. There are 3 different kinds: chicken, beef and pork (the big spinning thing when you peek inside the truck). Everyone I know has a different favorite! Mine is the beef! But for $2 .. why not just try them all and pick your own favorite. They also come with 2 different sauces: a green and an orange. I think the green is the spicy one but both is good so just mix them! The tacos also comes out pretty quickly so why not grab some why you wait for the 10th street bus. **CASH ONLY** No chairs or tables but there are parking stumps that everyone sits on. Be careful though because if a car is blocking you and another is pilling into the spot you are sitting at quickly .. bad things may happen.

The most authentic street tacos in all of Philadelphia, I'll say! So good that when we get the craving, we'll drive across town just for the taste of tacos el rodeo! I prefer the steak tacos with green sauce to anything they offer here. More recently, we started venturing away from our regular order and trying other things on their menu like the quesadillas and burritos. But to be honest, they are not nearly as good as the tacos - so I would recommend sticking to those for good measure.

SOOOOO happy to have made this discovery! I've been by here twice and both times, I got the Steak Tacos and Melon Agua Fresca for only $9! I can't wait to go back. I want to go back and try something new but loved the steak so much might be hard to go with something else.

Pro: I really REALLY enjoyed this taco! My thought process on the food item has shifted recently. I believe that the best tacos aren't made in traditional restaurants; you can find them in back yards and on food trucks. Tacos El Rodeo has further cemented this sentiment...at least for the truck portion of the thought. Their Al Pastor taco was about as good as you can get, while the accompanying sauces only make a great thing greater! Con: The perennial problems with a food truck: no seating, weather-dependent, etc. Bottom Line: I will be a repeat offender and explore more options. If the other proteins are as good as the Al Pastor, I foresee another star in TER's future!

The tacos al pastor are delicious! The wait time in the evening is insanely long though, up to 20-30 minutes.

    Katherine L.

You know its good when you see people eating in/on their cars in the parking lot next to the truck just to enjoy this. Between us we ordered about $11 which turned out to be $25. Either we got ripped off, or they're charging $2.25 per taco now. Regardless, they are SO worth it. You can mix and match your taco order to try different kinds of meat. I had the pastor and cabeza and oh man the cabeza is out of this world tender! I didn't know what to expect since I usually go for al pastor but I would definitely recommend trying something new! The al pastor was good but kind of a let down after the cabeza. I loved the fresh avocado and pickled carrot on top. Will definitely be back!

For fresh, inexpensive, and authentic Mexican food, I'm not sure you can do any better than this in Philadelphia. I'd highly recommend a visit here. It looks very unassuming at first glance, with brightly colored (if not slightly tacky) mural paintings covering the exterior. Don't be fooled by appearances, though. The menu is small and very well priced: $2 per taco and about $5 for a burrito. Great assortment of meats and flavors to choose from, including al pastor, chorizo, tongue, chicken, carnitas, and more. If you're confused, just ask the staff - they are all very friendly and willing to explain all of your options in detail. The burritos are packed full, but not overwhelmingly so. These are not at all like the heavy, stomach-expanding Chipotle or Qdoba behemoths you're probably used to. The focus here is on the flavors, freshness, and authenticity, and El Rodeo delivers in spades. The side red and verde sauces are nice extra enhancements to the flavors you'll experience. I left feeling very satisfied. I was full, but not "food coma" full - it was the perfect-sized burito. I'm eagerly anticipating my next visit. I can already tell that this will soon become a "regular" spot for me when I'm in need of a quick, fresh, flavorful meal.

Ask the Community - Tacos El Rodeo

Does anyone know where the truck's been?

The truck doesn't have a set schedule. They don't answer their phone, so you just have to go and see for yourself. Taqueria la Veracruzana is across the street and is very good - in case you need a taco fix.

The meat in the tacos was so dry that it was hard to chew and swallow. Some of the pieces were cooked to a crisp. No amount of salsa could make them better. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

Good: old fashioned, tri-mix of guac (liked the truffle one), steak tacos. Not so good:coco tartare app, I thought most of the other tacos were tried were very okay for the price and would not recommend (shrimp, pastor (one of my least favorite versions of pastor), one with habaenro (not spicy at all). Would have enjoyed some actual spicy salsa to go with it. Overall, I sadly can't really recommend it.

Honestly El Rey is great!…read more As a Los Angeles native, Mexican food is always a "not as good as California" affair, and with that bar, it's hard to find anything that holds a candle. But El Rey is good in its own right, taking familiar foods and flavors, with a bit of a fancier twist, and making a good meal that I love to eat and enjoy! Seating and service here is friendly and prompt. Even when it's pretty loud and seems packed, there are always a handful of open tables available, where we've usually been able to be seated almost immediately. Such was the case this evening. We were on a bit of a time crunch so we ordered immediately and our food came out so fast that the waiter for our table was surprised as the food beat him with our napkins to the table. We ordered the Tuna Tostada and the Yucatan Spiced Chicken Fajitas. Both were amazing! Good thing for our tight timeline, the food was gone as fast as it came. The waiter helpfully recommend the house hot sauce, which was certainly spicy and a good compliment on our fajitas. Overall, a great place to dine for Mexican-inspired! I hadn't been to El Rey in years, but we scored last-minute Valentine's reservations and WOW. The vibe was lively, warm, and perfect for a fun night out. - Let's talk about these STEAK TACOS . Perfectly seasoned, tender, flavorful -- the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes for a second. They were so good I came back two days later just for them. That's not a craving... that's infatuation. - The Chayote Salad completely surprised me. Fresh, bright, and paired with their homemade hot sauce? My palate was awakened. I even brought it home (with dressing and hot sauce on the side) and it still hit! Speaking of heat -- if you love spicy food, ASK for their homemade hot sauce. It's bold, fiery, and addictive. I genuinely want a bottle for home. Service? 10/10. From the manager to the hosts to the bartender -- everyone was kind, attentive, and patient. They even remembered me from Valentine's Day, which says everything about how they treat their guests. Bathroom Check: Clean? Yes. Cute ambiance? Yes. Great mirror for photos? Absolutely. There were booths, tables and bar seating available with Wonder Years playing on a few TVs with warm lighting and the incandescent Christmas lights that are reminiscent of Grandma's house (bonus points for nostalgia!) I requested a booth and she promptly sat me. She brought me water, menus and explained the specials to me. As I perused the menu, I was overwhelmed with the options available to me. I ultimately landed on one of the dinner specials (Cabernet braised brisket with a side of carrots & buttery mashed potatoes), chips & salsa and a Paloma. Chips landed first and while both salsas were fresh, I still felt the need to add salt. (Everyone's palate is different) Food & drink arrived simultaneously. Paloma was made strong but tasted more like a classic margarita as opposed to the tang of grapefruit that comes with a Paloma. Still good! The food was essentially cold & looked like it had been sitting for awhile being served to me but all the flavors were there. The brisket fell apart, I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The carrots were tender and the mashed potatoes were buttery. I would 1000% go back for the drinks and service, however I may get something different on the menu.
