We purchased a powered love seat made by Bassett at Tyson's 4 years ago. There is a problem with the wiring harness that moves the footrest up and down. Tyson's warranty is only good for one year, but Tyson's stepped up and purchased the part for us, and is mailing it to us at no charge! We came in on on Saturday looking fotr a chaise/sofa and received excellent customer service. Found what we wanted, got to sit on a sample they had. Ordered and was delivered in just a few weeks. After a while, we noticed that the chaise was coming disconnected from the sofa. Tried everything. Called Tyson's, they ordered a new kit from Basset and are coming next week to fix it! My father-in-law recently bought a mattress set and had it delivered. I might add, his previous mattress had also been purchased at Tyson's about 10 years ago. After a couple of nights trying to sleep he realized the mattress was too soft and wanted to exchange it. EXCHANGE IT. We offered to buy a mattress cover to keep it clean and return it to the store for an EXCHANGE. We were told the mattress didn't have a "comfort guarantee" and could not be exchanged. I was shocked that they were so inflexible. The salesperson said she understood when I told her that most stores offer a period of time for return and she was sorry for his displeasure. BEWARE! Excellent selection (which unfortunately is disappearing like everything else). They keep getting more stock though and I'm sure they sell a lot before the holidays every year. Very personal, well informed service staff. Angel helped us and we highly recommend her. She knows a lots about the products and has great design ideas! Tysons is huge (I think 70k sq. Ft. of showroom space), they will sell off the showroom floor but have most of their furniture in stock. Have bought many pieces of furniture over the years at Tyson. Had problems with one of the orders - the manufacturer kept sending the wrong items. Tyson was timely, extremely helpful, and determined to make it right for us. They will always be the first place we go to when wanting furniture. Great store. Have been going here since I was a kid. The best part of this store is that it hasn't changed except for the inventory. They still do the invoices on paper, and I love the whole sales desk area. Takes me back to when times were simpler. They don't hound you like used car salesmen, but if you need someone they are really nice to deal with. I'm glad they sell American made products too. I only shop here for furniture. My husband and I were referred to Tyson by my sister-in-law who'd purchased some very nice furniture from them. The store is a two hour drive from where we purchased a cabin and since we live in Los Angeles I wasn't all that happy about sitting in a car during my time away. We walked in and my first impression was that this store is probably not where we're going to find much of anything we like. I should know better, just as good visual impressions quickly fall away when service is poor, the same holds true for the opposite. What you see when you enter the store doesn't tell you anything more than it is old school. The lack of computers means the salespeople had better know their stuff! This store hasn't survived for so many decades with personnel who aren't on their game. Now about the salespeople, we worked with Dianne Sohl who is exceedingly knowledgeable about the products she's selling. She's got an amazing visual for proportionality, she can quickly see the colors in a fabric that will come forth when combined with various other materials, and she's got a quick wit. All of these attributes come in very handy when your good humor has left the building and you still have to make a few more forever furniture decisions for nearly an entire home. We have an authentic Appalachian wood cabin and in our opinion it is the wow factor, and the furniture is an accessory but must be of high quality. We told Dianne we didn't want furniture that competed visually with the beautiful logs and we don't have a specific style (mid-century, Scandinavian, ultra-contemporary, etc) that must be adhered to. We came prepared with measurements, ideas, and pictures, and from there Dianne was on it! I almost think we could have saved ourselves the drive and made our purchases via FaceTime. Yeah, Tyson doesn't have an ocean of cubicles with computers at every or any desk and they don't offer coffee or water. Come to think of it, I've never made a large purchase based on access to any of those things. What they have is substance in the way of knowledge, well-made furniture that I believe is nearly all made in America, and great prices! I purchased a bed made in L.A., my own backyard, whose manufacturer website I'd looked at a number of times for this exact bed. I can hardly believe that I purchased it from a retailer, clear across the country for less than if I had gone direct just 25 miles from my residence. Go to Tyson for great furniture and service, not for a pretty facade, and definitely not for the coffee. read more

Having shopped and purchased many furniture items over the past 20 years, I was shocked at the appearance and condition of the store on my recent visit 8/13 The carpet in most areas is badly wrinkled and very dirty, the furniture selection has gone down hill. This store previously had a great many brands and display of recliners. With the exception of pushing Lane and Stressless the selection was terrible. It is sad to see this 70k sq. ft store in such poor condition. read more

Buyer Beware I accepted a damaged sofa as I desperately needed seating for an evening. I was dismayed to learn that having paid full price the only recourse they offered to me was a repair. This is on a $2500 leather sectional! I wish I'd never accepted it. Funny it was the last thing unloaded and I'm pretty sure if I hadn't spotted it the truck would have left and it was intentionally dumped on me. All that after being told there were plenty in the warehouse. Otherwise the order omitted 4 chairs and a cocktail table. I had paid for. What a disappointment. read more

I can't comment on delivery or customer service because we never got that far. We drove to Black Mountain because this store supposedly carried a line I was interested in. We arrived and thought we had entered a time warp back 20-30 years ago. All the styles were reminiscent of something I may have bought in 1990. Also, they had this big square work station area full of 9-10 desks for the sales staff. Of the 3-4 sales people around, no one even approached us to offer assistance. I can't remember if I even saw any computers on the desks; it all seemed very old-fashioned. The only upside to our visit? Black Mountain is a cute little town! read more

She listens to your wants and needs then makes suggestions based on those. Tysons carry almost every brand, style or fabric you could ever want. Tracy is interested in fulfilling your dream more so than selling you something you don't want. There is no hard sell, a sale for the sake of a sale. I cannot say enough about Tyson Furniture. We discovered it several years ago while wondering around Black Mountain. We thought we would take 5 minutes to check out their showroom but discovered that the place is huge, consisting of a compound of buildings. They have a vast selection of quality furniture of varying styles. I saw the reviews complaining that they were old-fashioned and they are. But so what? We have purchased numerous items over the years and the service has always been exceptional. Plus they deliver all over for very reasonable prices. We love working with Brenda, who is our go-to salesperson. We recently bought a rental condo and made the mistake of shopping at a cheap furniture warehouse that sold to someone else the sofa we bought before it could be delivered to us. We called Brenda and told her that we needed living room furniture and we wanted something quickly, in stock and inexpensive. She offered a few alternatives the minute we walked into the store. We spent only a little more than the set at the warehouse was going to cost us and we got much better comfort and quality. Two days later, our furniture was delivered. I won't go into details but the delivery men who delivered the furniture went waaaay above and beyond the call of duty and were patient and gracious in spite of the fact that their job was incredibly difficult. We learned our lesson and will always start at Tyson when we're furniture shopping. Plus, it involves a visit to the wonderful little town of Black Mountain, which is always a good idea. read more

I have bought items from Tyson's previously without any problems and especially in these trying times, am committed to buying locally whenever possible, even if it sometimes means paying more. I did research on mattress options, made my choice and purchased at Tyson's on July 22, with the understanding that because of manufacturing delays with Beautyrest it might take as much as 30 days for the mattress to arrive at my home. We are in a pandemic. I expect delays. After 30 days, I checked in every couple of weeks for updates, always needing to make at least 2 phone calls or emails to get a response from my salesperson. On September 16, she returned my call to say that Beautyrest was not filling the order. Again, we're in a pandemic and things are not normal. I understand that. What I don't understand and do not appreciate is the complete lack of concern and effort to make any attempt for Tysons to contribute towards a remedy. The options I was given: 10% off (which I'm pretty sure is standard for every purchase there) on a mattress on the floor that cost twice as much as the one I ordered or a $350 coupon to be used on a future purchase or, in a tone that implied she was willing to do this favor for me, give me my money back. Wow!!! I will definitely get my money back and will feel no guilt in expanding my definition of "local" to mean outside of Black Mountain for future furniture purchases. read more

Spent thousands of dollars on two sofa sets and hundreds of dollars to repair the driveway. Will not bother to shop this store again based on this experience. My wife had the worst experience trying to purchase our new living room furniture at tyson furniture. She had been all over the Asheville area looking for furniture for several days. She said she found a sofa that she liked at tyson furniture and wanted me to look at it. Before we even walked into the store she told me that they were really pushy there, and boy was she right! Sara was so pushy that we left without even saying good-bye. My wife really liked the sofa and decided to try again to purchase it. She went back to the store knowing that Sara would not be there. The boy she spoke to she said he is really kind, calm and knowledgeable. My wife struggles to make decisions but the boy was so helpful she ended up purchasing even more then originally planned from tyson furniture. She was going to purchase the rest of our living room from the other Black Mountain store down the road. She even took one of their other customers fabrics to their home to make her purchase easier. The next morning my wife gets a message from Sara to call her. My wife called Sara back out of guilt for purchasing from the boy and try to just leave it as thank you for her time. When my wife spoke to Sara she was told that everything she picked out was wrong and bad design. My wife went on to tell me that Sara asked for her credit card number to give her money back on the furniture so she could go to Haverty's and purchase instead. My wife has received other phone calls from tyson furniture, and I'm not sure what my wife will decide to do about our furniture, but Sara should be fired for making me and my wife's experience so bad. My wife was so happy Tuesday night and Sara had to ruin all of that. I'm telling everyone to never go to Tyson Furniture, shop any place else. Sara will make your shopping experience hell. We recently moved the Hendersonville area and were looking to furnish a new home after selling our other home furnished. I knew what I wanted and the vendor website gave me a few options on who carried that particular line of products. I contacted Brunson's, Davis Home Furniture and provided them with the product numbers and they advised I would get a quote back within 24 hours. That was the longest 24 hours ever, because it's been 45 days and I never heard back from either sales person at Brunson's or Davis Home Furniture. I decided that if I wasn't important enough to follow up with a customer who was going to be spending a lot of money, they didn't need my business. I went back to the website and found that Tyson's was also a distributor, so I contacted "Morgan" at the Black Mountain, NC location who was absolutely wonderful. She took down the information and had a quote for me the same day. She was professional and her follow up skills were a "10" I received my items within 14 days after the order was placed and I couldn't be happier. I have been in outside sales for a long time and I was amazed at how unimportant "follow up skills" have become. Apparently Brunson's or Davis didn't want or need my business, but Morgan went above and beyond. read more

Recently bought a wonderful cherry dining set, I was not happy with the number of natural flaws in the wood. Terrible company! This company is stuck in the 40's! They are still using paper with carbon to place orders! It's obvious the owners have no desire to change with technology. It's a "catalogue" showroom! Stay home and order online! I ordered several pieces of furniture and come to find out they were about to deliver only one piece if it wasn't for my prowness! After threatening to cancel my entire order, they delivered all furniture a day after the original date. Coffee table arrived damage and the center cabinet door is crooked! The Hooker ornate desk knob and screw was stripped. The customer service rep sent me a new screw/knob. Screw was too short! She told me in an email to go to a hardware store to find a proper screw!!! Can you believe that! The salesperson's email in-box is full so I couldn't get my emails through! Be ready to stand at their old counter to view catalogues if this is what you want. No chairs to sit on! It's like going through a time machine walking in this place. It hasn't changed since their inception decades ago. I will never recommend nor purchase from this company again especially the salesperson who was loud and somewhat obnoxious and would always make claims that other furniture stores furniture was made in China!
