Not just the best sandwich in Western North Carolina but an amazing shopping experience with folks that treat you like family! I heard about this place from some friends years ago and regularly frequented for the killer deli sandwiches and old world bakery. Back then it was called Troyer's but recently went back and the entire shopping/dining experience has been elevated in the best of ways!!!! I was greeted immediately when I walked in by a super sweet couple rocking out the incredible sandwiches! I found out they had been making the Troyer's sandwiches for years which was so cool. Come to find out they now have beef, pork, lamb & chicken for sale grown right on the same property! I grilled a ribeye that next day and the flavor was on par with anything from the chop shop! I also found out they have a CSA that delivers right to my home which makes for least waste and need to use the corporate grocery store so often. The grocery section has so many options from dry goods to locally made products they have you covered. I picked up goats milk soap, spicy pickles, champagne mustard, old world candy, and an amazing soup my family loved. The oatmeal crème pie is by far the best dessert after an amazing sandwich I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I also grabbed a loaf of fresh baked and it was to die for! Found this place be very quaint. If you've not been here, I recommend coming. However, know this there are no instructions telling you what to do if your first timer to this location. So you go over to the board where it shows all the different meats and cheeses, etc., and there's pieces of paper you write down what you would like on your sandwich or what type of sandwich they have. I chose to have a Reuben today. This location has cold beverages in the coolers as well as beer. There's outside seating, there is indoor seating but limited. They sell a lot of pickled food such as eggs, okra. They also have peaches, and jellies and jams. The downside of this location is Parking is terrible. It's very crowded and not a lot of places to park. The Reuben was very good. I would've liked a little additional dressing, but that's a personal preference. read more

Really good sandwiches but on the expensive side. We got roast beef sandwich and a muffalotta with 2 bottled drinks and 2 small bags of chips for $40. The sandwiches were just normal sandwich bread. I was kinda disappointed on the muffalotta I thought since it was one of their specialty sandwiches it would be on the proper bread. We love Troyer's! This was our "COVID" spot for dates because of the friendly staff, and the fact that they were open. The chill country store vibe is great! SO disappointed! Have been going to Troyer's for years. Now under new ownership, it's just not the same. Took some friends there today for a birthday lunch celebration. We were told we could sit on the porch, but they would not bring the heaters onto the porch or even turn them on. Tried to get 4 people around a 4-top table inside simply by moving it and the only other table a few feet to accommodate our group while leaving plenty of room for other foot-traffic (there was none). We were told we would have to sit at 2 separate tables. "You can still talk to one another." We like to spend our money in Fairview and, when having a meal out, would like to be treated like we are welcome. Terramonga did not offer that, so we went to The Local Joint and had a marvelous lunch with excellent service from Mary. Sorry Terramonga, we are through with y'all. Somebody wrote a great review for this place and I had to check it out. It was the perfect lunch spot. Although the muffuletta sandwich was not on the traditional bread (soft ciabatta or focaccia) I'm used to, it was one of the best ones I've ever had. The bread was toasted just enough that the oil & vinegar did not make it get all soggy. That, a bottled water, chips and a freshly made cinnamon roll (it was still warm!) the size of a softball was just under $20. That's rare these days. I ate on their front porch on a perfectly sunny day. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

A real treasure in the Cane Creek/Gerton area. The amount of meat on each sandwich is unbelievable! A must try is the Lebonese Bologna. You get to choose your breads, meats, cheeses and toppings! Many home baked breads and desserts, too! Great staff and atmosphere. read more

This is NOT an Amish run business, and they do not sell authentic Amish products. The only thing remotely Amish is the buggy out front to attract customers. They have electricity, light bulbs, normal refrigeration, and absolutely none of their jams and jellies are Amish made. And their refrigerator contains a few alcoholic beverages! They sell cedar furniture that could be sold virtually anywhere, the guy told some customers the furniture was made "up in Amish country," trying to sell the illusion while at the same time trying hard not to lie. I was so excited to find an Amish store near Asheville! We drove 25 minutes out of our way to look for a specialty syrup advertised on their website. After 10 minutes of searching the store, we found they didn't have what we came for, but decided to buy some dried herbs and spices instead. We waited at the register several minutes (I'm guessing 5) for someone to check us out, with no luck. All employees were either chatting each other up behind the deli counter or with other customers. Finally, I decided to walk up to the one employee I saw and ask her for assistance. Just as I got close to her she made eye contact with me, and then turned around and walked away. Some folks and I came in here due to a recommendation by a good friend who lives a few miles down the road. We adored this place! I will come back here every time I am in town to buy this heavenly rose soap that makes my skin glisten and smells so fresh. We bought authentic foodie ingredients here to cook dinner for the evening, and a few spa items. There was a white llama and some other farm animals hanging out in the back outside behind the shop that were SO CUTE! The llama really took a liking to us. The staff was lovely and it truly was pleasant to visit a nice store like this, while escaping the hustle and bustle and overall commonplace of stores that you may find in a large city. Immediately relaxing atmosphere. Delicious sandwiches and locally made goods including a variety of cheeses and fresh bread.

Here's why it's a 5 star attraction: Several yelpers listed items that the store carries, etc., so I won't elaborate on that. Why I loved the store, and why it's worth the hour and a half drive from Charlotte: the people working the store are friendly, and *engaging.* They have animals behind the store, and people tending to the animals are only too happy to answer any questions, etc.; same with the folks inside of the store, who sell unique Amish items, foodstuffs, etc...very engaging. Second reason why I will return: prices are FAIR. Many stores that follow Troyers' format are limited in their usefulness, in that it they charge too much for the items that they sell. Not so in Troyers; everything that we saw was fair priced - so we bought several items. Troyers' pricing, and diverse selection, made their store a useful, practical, store. They have the usual great selection of necessary cooking and baking spices, etc. Great job Troyers! I hope that they continue their tradition of friendly service, and fair prices. So long as they do, I will make the drive from Charlotte. read more

By far the best sandwiches we've had. This is a quaint country store with affordable food ($8 sandwiches) and home items. We wrote our sandwich orders on a piece of paper. You could choose bread, meat, cheese, and additions. Two of us had Ruebens, and the others had roast beef and salami. Each were piled high with meats and cheeses. We grabbed a spot on the covered porch to wait for our lunch. There were plenty of fresh farm grocery items and an extensive selection of deli meat and cheeses.
