I'm not a huge "Yelp" person but I just had to give the positive feed back I have. This place is AMAZING. I'm currently moving out of the Bay Area and I wish I could take this little gem and all the staff with me. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. My 70+ pound German Sheppard mix loves it here. She starts freaking out (in a good way) the second she realizes where we are going. She even nudges me with her nose on my back to get me out of the car quicker. I've only used them for day care personally but have heard great things about the over night stays as well. My pup is always so hyper and she actually comes home exhausted from all the play and attention she gets here. The hours are fabulous, prices are just right. They even have a cute Facebook page where they constantly post pictures of all the fury friends. So sad to go but want to thank everyone for the best day care miss Marley could have had! read more

Our dog has stayed here about 4 times but, that's the last time I'm taking my pets there. We received an email saying our dog was limping and we had the staff take him straight away to the vet. Turns out he dislocated both of his front knees. He is always running around the house and jumping in our pool and has never been hurt before. This kennel is awful because they obviously don't take care of the dogs or tell us what they really do when it's play time. We told them that we don't want our dog playing with the other dogs so how did he come out of the kennel with two major injuries. If you love you pet then don't take them here. read more

Tyson's world of dogs is just what I needed! I take my German Shepherd puppy Delta here several times a week and I have never had any problems. The staff is very accommodating and always happy to see my pup. I really love the fact that I can see my dog on the webcam. Sometimes while I am at work I like to check in on her. The location is also perfect for me. Its close enough to the freeway that it only adds a few extra minutes to my commute when I have to drop off/pick up my pooch. read more

ABOUT TYSON Tyson Kennel is a nice, basic, affordable place to put your dog. The people working there are nice, the dogs have a small inside/ outside space that is OK. I really like that your dog can get a 15 minute walk for $ 5/ walk twice a day with Mona. My dog easily bonds with people and would rather take a person than other dog company. I'm taking a star off for their restricted hours (even though you can pay for drop off and pick up outside off their hours ), and for only feeding once a day on weekends. I think Tyson works, and that's praise coming from me, see below. OTHER KENNEL EXPERIENCES I've really tried finding some sort of ideal place to put my dog in when needed. She definitely dislikes going to any kennel so far, it always amazes me when people talk of wagging tails as they approach whatever kennel they've settled on. Ain't gonna happen with my dog. My dog likes off leash hikes on the beach or in the regional parks; she likes to sleep on sofas; she likes her family around her. She is pulled away reluctantly by any kennel person when she has to stay somewhere, and then is exuberantly happy when we come and get her. I've been to kennels with web cams where there are murals depicting happy dogs frolicking on a meadow with a merry spring meandering through it, but the actual space where the dogs are supposed to 'play' is a small graveled yard surrounded by walls, with a harsh sun beating down. The dogs in the play area seem confused and circle aimlessly, with an attendant standing bored in the middle. Another place had bigger outdoor space and artificial grass where the dogs are let loose, but then the dogs are crammed into crates from 7 pm to 7 am. Other places are convinced that you can't put any dogs together at all. The highlight of the day is for the dog is to be placed by itself in a bigger, graveled yard, with the sun beating down. Then there are places where the dog lives as part of a family. When I was going to try that, the owner called back excusing herself with bronchitis, so it seems a bit insecure relying on one person. Some of these places also seem to be going overboard, I don't really see it necessary for my dog to share the bed with the business owner. Actually, I'd prefer her not to. Well, money can buy anything, I haven't really explored the $ 50/night and up places, because, frankly, that's too much. So, Tyson works for us. read more

I'm really grateful that Tyson's Kennels is there. They are friendly and very flexible. I can bring my dog last minute. Also, my dog wasn't socialized with other dogs very well when we got him from the humane society. So, Tyson's is accommodating and understanding of that and don't force him to be with other dogs. When my dog is ready, they will start helping him to make a friend there. And, they feed them there, which is convenient. And, I love looking at the Webcam while I'm away to look for my dog and even enjoy watching the other dogs. read more

Tyson is great! I've been taking my dog here ever since we moved out west and they've done a great a job with him. He's an older fellow and has his fair share of medical issues, and they have been very accommodating for all his needs. We experienced a pet owner's worst nightmare about year ago when he had a medical emergency while I was away. The staff at Tyson really went above and beyond, taking him back and forth from the vet (he weighs 140 lbs so this is not as easy at it sounds), monitoring him and keeping me informed until I could return and pick him up. The facility is nothing fancy (but why would your dog care?), but the dogs have plenty of space in indoor/outdoor runs, and get to go on daily walks or to puppy daycare to keep them entertained. They also run a webcam and post facebook photos, so you can keep an eye on your pups while you're away. read more

Do not board your cat at Tyson Kennels. Along with the terrible smell, dirty cat room, and howling dogs, my poor cat was miserable during the three times he stayed here. Their boarding cost is cheap because your cat gets the bare minimum. The cat room is cramped and the "play time" they probably get is minimal because of the limited space. The first time my cat stayed here, he seemed okay. The second time I boarded my cat for a weekend and was told when I picked him up that he "did fine" but "only sat in his litter box the entire time." My cat never does this at home, so this was a terrible sign. The third and final time I boarded my cat here, I arrived to pick him up and when the front desk staff went to the back room to get him, the employee came back and said that there was a problem. My blood pressure immediately rose and I asked what happened. He stated that my cat was definitely somewhere in the room but just not in his cage. I went back in the room and searched all of the cages only to find my cat had hopped into an open cage that belonged to the sweet black cat that usually greets people at the front desk (who had only been put in his cage about 5 minutes before I arrived, supposedly). Thankfully my cat gets along with other cats and so does the black cat but can you imagine if that had happened overnight? Do they not check that each animal is in its cage before locking up? I arrived about 10 minutes before they were closing so if I hadn't picked my cat up that night, he would've been sharing a cage with another cat. Also, he caught fleas during this third stay and it took me months to rid him and the house of them. Besides rabies, they don't have any vaccination or flea treatment requirements for cats. I would never recommend boarding your pet at this facility. Maybe the dogs are treated better but the cats are not. read more

Never board your cat here! We fumigated our house and brought our three cats here. The staff was very friendly and professional. When I returned to pick up the cats, they couldn't find our cat carrier so they asked me to come in back to ID it. I was shocked when I saw the tiny size of cages they had for cats, no bigger than 2' x2' x2'. Our one cat was so traumatized it wasn't the same for 6 months. Although it could just be that it was never caged for any length of time before, tbe tiny size of the cages for cats they have is ridiculous. read more

I first came to Tyson because I knew they had experience with many different kinds of dogs. The facility is 100% clean, the dogs are given indoor/outdoor runs, bedding, and the staff is more than outstanding. They know dogs. Mona is excellent at reading dogs and their owners. Her Facebook posts and commentary give me updates and reassurance when I am away. Miguel is an excellent groomer, kind, gentile, and thorough. He never complains if I need an early pickup. Pablo and Patty are my dog's buddies, they keep him company, play ball endlessly, and take excellent care of him when I can't be there. read more

I took my Lucy dog for a bathe and ears and toenail clip, And they went beyond what I asked they cleaned around my poodles eyes and she looked wonderful when I picked her up. Tyson Kennels is such an amazing establishment. Mona cares about every animal like they were her own. The new groomer Lacy is doing a great job. I have a husky malamute mix and take her to Tyson for her grooming needs. She has gotten skunked a couple times and they do a terrific job of getting the stench out. They also offer flea baths. They have the most affordable prices around too. I love my Tyson family!! read more

I absolutely LOVE Tyson Kennel's! I own multiple dogs and they ALL love going there. I went to Europe not to long ago and had to drop some of my dogs off. I have one special needs dog and they took great care of him. They followed all instructions with no questions asked. The staff is very caring and will go out of their way to make sure the dogs are comfortable. Prices are also lower then other kennels. Their groomer does a great job! They sell the dog food I feed and the prices are lower then I can find anywhere else. Now, they will offer "Daycare" at their kennel and I can't wait to check it out! read more

I was in the situation of having to place a friend's dog and 3 cats in a boarding facility for an indefinite amount of time. I had to do this from MA. The staff at Tyson's was amazing. They walked me through the process over the phone and facilitated getting all the animals boarded and cared for. They were wonderful with the animals and were top notch at communication through the entire process. They went above and beyond and even helped me arrange transportation and veterinary care for the animals. I've taken my small dog here three times. When I returned to drop her off the second time, I could tell she wasn't crazy about the place: tail drooping and noticeably scared. This had never happened when I boarded her with my previous vet. I vowed not to take her there again. Then came Christmas and all kennels were booked, so here came boarding trip No. 3. Same story as before. I picked her up after a week and she seemed visibly nervous and shaken. I found a flea on her, which I'm hoping is just an isolated occurrence. I've also noticed two small scabs on her legs that weren't there previously. Granted, these may be self-inflicted from her being nervous (probably not because they look like scratches), but it still doesn't sit well with me. Tyson Kennels might be fine for big, tough police dogs, but if you have a small dog with any sort of nervous tendencies, go elsewhere. read more

I make the 100 mile round trip drive to Menlo Park from our home in Gilroy to bring my dogs to Tyson Kennels. We are greeted by name and the staff is always happy to help with the dogs. Having three intact male German Shepherds that we use for protection sports, I ask that they not be allowed to play together. Not only did they ease my fears about boarding my 2 dogs for the first time but, I can tell by bringing my pups in for grooming this morning that they had been treated well and were fine coming back.. I had no idea what I wanted for my Australian Shepard's summer cut but, Miguel phoned me and explained the options and this afternoon we picked up two happy, clean, sassy looking girls. My Thanksgiving plans suddenly took shape but finding a good care for my pet... Troy (GSD) was quite a task. Got to know them through a referral and in reality... Tyson World of Dogs just Rocks. If you wish to enjoy with your family and just can't bring along your little pooch or the big brat. Leave your worries and pack your bags, Tyson guys can take care of your dog or cat as good as you will. Staff is fabulous, very polite, friendly and they really do love animals. I have been bringing my elderly dog here for years. They keep him young! He gets love and attention. As much as I hate to leave him when I travel, I know he is in outstanding hands. I've been to several kennels and had bad experiences so I heard about Tyson's from a friend of mine who knows they could handle a dominant dog such as mine. They are very friendly, seem to know what they are doing, and willing to understand you/your dog(s) and meet your needs. The other places did not "get" how to handle all dog personalities and we ran into numerous problems. Even though it takes me about 2 hrs to drop/off and come back home before trips it is worth it to know that competent people can handle my pets who are family to me. My male dog will bond to no one but me. I took him to another trainer who "%$*^#ed him up. He is dominant, and has had more than one bad experience at other kennels. Poor guy. They treated him however they liked just because he didn't speak English and thought it could be a secret. I knew, just by looking at my dog coming back from some of those places that "something" happened. All I have to say the specific names, and he gets major depressed. Such a shame there are hole in the wall places who put on a good face, but abuse your animals. Tyson's could see that something happened, and still wanted to try to regain trust and make it a positive experience for my male dog. He never showed nervousness from day one and seems very at ease being led back and brought to me. The kennel help is phenomenal! I tried to explain briefly how to handle my dog and he took him like a pro. Look, they are not a kennel for Teacup Yorkies, but if you want someone who is knowledgeable about large dog breeds this is the place to be. If K9s come here, you know it is one of the better places who know how to handle dogs. I think it is great that they are adding Daycare on July 30th, offer structures, toys and wading pool for summer, as well as providing webcams so you can see what your pets hidden talents are when you are not watching. New hours from 7am to 7pm, M-F. Can't wait to try them! I'm not aware of any other kennel that will walk your dogs at all for you. This is the only one I have found. With a large breed such as my dogs are who have to constantly be mentally stimulated this will become the perfect place for them apart from home and I can finally enjoy my few vacations. read more

Our puppy loves it here! We started bringing him once a week when he finally got his rabies and bordatella shots. Now that we are in the middle of renovating, he goes ballistic at home with all the noise and the different people, that we decided to put him in daycare everyday until it is done. Our pup cannot wait to get inside the doors at Tysons! He has made friends and is kept busy and entertained all day. It's great that we can watch him on livestream, too. He is dog-tired by the time he gets home by late afternoon, which is a nice, cuddly time for the family. read more

Do NOT bring your dogs to this place for boarding! I left my dog there a few years ago for the 4th weekend and they placed her in a single kennel when I left her there and when i came to pick her up she had been placed in a small run with 3 other dogs! They were all males and my dog wasn't spayed at the time and one of the dogs was NOT neutered and when I brought this to the attention of the management one rude lady made a remark about how she had been there all weekend and no one had bothered her (my dog) and if I wanted to make sure she was in "heat" she would place her in a kennel with one of her dogs. She was just not sympathetic and very mean! The place was noisy and cold too. Not reccomended for small dogs unless you have 3-4 so they can squeeze them all in together! Not friendly and warm people or at least the management. They also have pictures of Police dogs hanging all over the lobby so people think they cater to the elite, NOT! read more
