Sometimes story time, songs, alphabets, and numbers are taught in Spanish. We think it's fine for now since he's still an infant. But we plan on moving him to another daycare/school once he's older.

For context, we've got several center-based preschools to compare to as our other child attended a different school before we moved. CBA's communication is excellent. While most businesses and schools really struggled with keeping parents informed during COVID, CBA always contacted us quickly, and most importantly, with clear and CONSISTENT information. We always know what to expect and how things are being handled. Of course, the most important thing is the awesome care for our kiddo. He comes home laughing and sharing about his teachers and friends. He stops to say goodbye to teachers in other classrooms, and knows all of the administrative staff, who all know him, as well! A huge selling point is that they get tons of outdoor time. At other schools, this is not consistent even if the weather isn't a factor; at CBA they get to play outside at least 2x a day and the kids love it. They also have tons of stimulating and creative activities and celebrations that are shared through daily photos. We really appreciate the staff and feel grateful to have found a great place for our son to thrive.

A very special shoutout to Ms. Katy, who was an exceptional teacher--warm, nurturing, creative, and always coming up with the most fun activities. She and her co-teachers provided such an important sense of stability for a young two-year-old. We are also incredibly grateful to Ms. Yeisi, Ms. Nelly, and Ms. Lisette in the Pk3 class. They were truly wonderful educators and caregivers. They enhanced his learning of letters, stories, numbers, and so much more while providing structure, warmth, and nurturance at a pace that was fascinating to watch. We are thankful for his PK4 teachers, Ms. Erika, Ms. Ana, and Ms. Jordan, and all the additional teachers who stepped in, who beautifully consolidated everything he had learned while continuing to make him feel completely at home. Every single day, he wanted to go to Sparkles, which speaks volumes about how happy, safe, and loved he felt there. We also want to recognize Ms. Melissa and the front desk directors and staff, who always had such a caring outlook for our child. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed, safe, and genuinely cared for. It was clear that the people at Sparkles truly and intrinsically care about the children entrusted to them. Whenever we brought up concerns, they addressed them immediately, with care, empathy and understanding. The Crystal City Location is also beautifully maintained, the school is clean, the materials and learning activities are thoughtfully and developmentally appropriate, and the entire environment feels intentional and nurturing. Most importantly, the teachers and staff know the children, care about them, and help them grow. We are incredibly grateful for everyone at Sparkles who has played a role in our son's development. Any time that I had any kind of question or concern, the Director is always responsive. I think this is the best daycare in Pentagon City/Crystal City by far. The outdoor area is split into toddler and older kid zones and it's partially covered so there is shade in the summer. They also take the kids on walks sometimes in the nearby office park. It's also easy to do pick ups/drop offs because there is surface parking. They have very low turnover of staff.

On top of that, they have done a great job potty training him so now he can go to the bathroom by himself as a 3 year old. Even his new teachers learned some Korean words to communicate with him as well. I also really like how in the Goddard app they specify what he ate and didn't eat from the school lunches, or even the separate snacks I provide him every day. It gives me an idea of what his favorites are, and what he enjoys eating. The multiple photos a day they provide are always a great snapchat of his fun-filled day. They have somewhat of a curriculum, which is great for kids to get accustomed to at a young age. They have weekly activities such as PE, learning Chinese, learning Spanish, singing songs with an instructor, as well as plenty of outdoor time. Laura (the owner) does a great job in running the show because there are so many events per month that really show you that they care and that it really is one big family. There are multiple Fall events, Halloween parade, Parent appreciation days, International night, back to school nights, etc. It almost feels as if there's one every other week! We have had our children at this Goddard location along with beantree Westfields. To me this was not a "school"- it was a childcare facility with childcare staff and not educators. For the steep price we paid here- there should have been more focus on education. Unfortunately- this location for Goddard was not run well: the two year old class had a teacher that we and other parents witnessed snatch, drag, yell at at and verbally accost several children. Despite three documented compliants to management (two written and one verbal) nothing visibly changed. This staff member remained at the school and even had the audacity to ask my wife on several occasions why we carry our child (a two year old at 7am). I'm addition: -nap times started very late and lasted until after three pm. -despite knowing that my child did not touch specific foods- it was reported on several occasions that he did eat said food. -there was no clearly structured teaching format and unlike Beantree- students were confined to a single classroom for most of the day. (This is my observation) -did not see any specialized educators or areas for them (an art teacher, tech teacher, etc- as well no specialized rooms) -despite proper notice and several emails- they did not give our deposit back! Although I am no school expert- both of my children shine at beantree but my son was visibly worse off and miserable at goodard. As a caring parent- I URGE YOU to look at multiple caretakers before you send your children here. The front desk staff is very pleasant and it's a shame because there are other excellent caretakers at this facility.
