This office has clearly gone downhill and feels like a completely different place compared to what you would expect from a professional dental practice. The level of care, professionalism, and basic patient respect was unacceptable. My son came in with a painful tooth, and instead of examining him, the staff immediately questioned us and brought in multiple people, including the office manager and the dentist, Jackie. The situation felt confrontational from the start. The dentist Jackie refused to even look at my son's tooth and pointed out the time (4:45 PM) as if that justified not providing care. At no point did she perform a proper examination, which is the bare minimum at any dental visit--especially when a child is in pain. She also gave incorrect information about which tooth was affected, identifying it as tooth #20. We later determined ourselves that the issue was actually between teeth #17 and #18. This lack of attention and accuracy is extremely concerning. When I asked for help and clarification, the response was defensive and dismissive. I requested my son's dental records and instead felt rushed out, as if we were being escorted out rather than helped. The entire atmosphere was tense and uncomfortable, with multiple staff members surrounding us instead of focusing on patient care. For a pediatric dental setting, this is completely unacceptable. There is only one pediatric dentist at this office, and based on our experience, I would not trust them with my child's care. If your child is in pain and needs proper attention, do not come here. Go somewhere else where your child will actually be examined and treated with care and respect.

Yet, I keep getting text messages to schedule another appointment for my son. Today, I randomly get a text message saying I have an appointment tomorrow at 1:30 pm. I call the office and the receptionist tells me that yes I have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow. I say I did not make an appointment, and she says she's happy to reschedule. Only after I confront her and tell her I have cut ties for months and would not have made this appointment does she admit it was "auto scheduled." WTF. What if I had not called? Would they have charged me for a no show? Unbelievable. ALSO, Dr. Han is rude to children. One of the reasons I stopped going here is because my 5 year old son had literally a minute of hesitation about getting his tooth removed, and Dr. Han sent us home saying we would have to come back another day and go through the longer anesthesia process, saying my son had "a bad attitude." It was bizarre - either they book patients so tightly that not even a minute can be wasted or they deliberately want ppl to go through the more elaborate anesthesia process so they can charge them more.

Dr. Islands office is just different. They made my frightful daughter very comfortable, explained what they were going to do and I appreciate the dental tools being slightly more quiet and child friendly. I think it really made a difference as my daughter is not afraid of her dentist anymore. Bonus: The kids also get a token at the end and get to get a toy before they leave from the token coin machines. I can't say enough good things about this office and would recommend them to friends and family.

I am glad to learn that they will not leave patients on their own after insurance mistakes. One star deducted for all the pains and stress that I went through, and also the fact that I had to pay for root canal without insurance coverage due to the mistake. Dr. Kim did mention that it might not be a mistake; rather, tit's probably the insurance company that's trying not to cover. I will need to further look into that. Edit: I'm not saying that the doctor had done anything wrong. He is a nice person. Just the whole experience was very stressful. And after the billing department mistakened my insurance resulting in my having to pay for the whole thing out of pocket, at no point did they apologize. They even said that I wouldn't have had any choice anyway even if they had gotten it right. I left the place completely emotionally wrecked. If they got the insurance wrong, it is you that will be left responsible. DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. They completely screwed me over. Nov. 6, 2020: I went to this facility for the first time for regular cleaning. The dentist told me I needed filling for 5 teeth on the left side. I scheduled for filling. Nov. 13, 2020: I received dental fillings of 5 teeth. Immediately after the filling, I noticed two of the teeth were connected; floss couldn't go through. I went back to the place and they removed the materials that connected those two teeth. Then after the numbing effect completed faded, I noticed three teeth that received filling became extremely sensitive. I couldn't eat or even use mouth wash because it would hurt so bad. They asked me to wait for a month. Didn't get better. I went back (and was charged for this follow-up visit); they told me that it hurt possibly due to infection and I need a root canal for one tooth. And for the wisdom tooth that became sensitive, they told me I should extract it (after they gave my wisdom tooth filling). I was advised to schedule for root canal in Jan. 2021, so that my insurance will cover it under the new calendar year. Jan. 15, 2021: After several miserable weeks of unable to eat with the pain not going away, I came back for the root canal. The dentist couldn't finish at one go and asked me to come back at a later date. When I got home that day and the numbing effect faded, I found not only I couldn't eat, it got worse. That tooth hurt so bad even when I was not using it. I had to take so many painkillers. Couldn't focus on work next several days. It was too painful I cried multiple times. Jan 22, 2021: The longest week of my life. I came back for the second visit to have the root canal completed. After that, I scheduled the crown for 2/5/2021. I was assured that insurance will pay 80% of root canal and 50% of crown. Feb 5, 2021: I showed up for my appointment of crown and was told that my insurance won't pay for it (?). I called my insurance, they told me my plan resets every July and I already maxed out due to cleaning and filling, not a calendar year plan like the dental place told me. Not only I won't be covered for crown, the dental place told me that I now have a balance from root canal that I have to pay for full amount. They suggested me to continue with the crown and pay out of pocket, on top of the root canal that I now have to pay. When I said they shouldn't have told me that my insurance will cover when it won't, they said that EVEN IF they told me my insurance was maxed out prior to the root canal, I "won't have a choice because (I) had an infection". They basically refused to acknowledge any of their mistakes and asked me to pay for everything. Right now: I am left with a tooth without crown, two other teeth that are sensitive to heat and coldness, and a full bill of root canal that I had to pay. I never felt so completely screwed. Months of misery (and all the time I spent driving back and forth) that I went through led to these unbelievable results. I will look into legal avenues for a better resolution.

During several procedures, they either didn't numb my mouth enough, which made treatment painful, or used too much anesthetic, leaving me numb for hours afterward. I also had multiple crowns done there, and the quality was very poor. The crowns were bulky, poorly shaped, and didn't fit or look natural. This all happened in 2022, and I'm still dealing with the consequences. I've had to see a different dentist to correct the work, which has cost me thousands of dollars. I wish I had gone somewhere else from the beginning.

My kids love the trinkets they get from the vending machine. They usually give out tokens to the kids after each appointment to use on the vending machine. It was a warm and thoughtful gesture for the kids. Things went backwards after our appointment yesterday. My son is shy so I usually ask the receptionist for a token on his behalf. Sadly the receptionist refused to give us one. In a shameful way she responded while my son stood next to me: "We don't give tokens to kids who have an orthodontist appointment...We only give them to the kids who get their cleaning done." I had no words as it took a while for me to process what I heard. We've had appointments of all kinds and never experienced this before (one time my daughter got a token simply waiting for her brother in the lobby). I'm not the confrontational type so needless to say, we left the office with our heads down, not having the same warm and fuzzy feeling as before. Just want to be clear, this is not about the prize/rewards (we can get these from Amazon for dirt cheap). It's about how the receptionist crushed the principle this clinic upholds. If this the policy she is forced to enforce then the clinic is better of discontinuing the whole "reward system" program, instead discriminative of who gets it vs not.
