The outside is always decorated with a selection of their plants, anywhere from Japanese Maple Trees to potted Bonsai trees, succulents, and herbs. My mom is obsessed with plants and says their selection is good and of good quality, but a bit pricey. But you get what you pay for! Plus it's local to the neighborhood, which is always nice. Only drawback was that I stopped to look at a cactus for a few seconds and a shop attendant kind of hovered over me outside the entire time. She offered me a nicer version of the one I was looking at, which was nice, but she was a little pushy lol. My mom also mentioned that the one time she entered the store with some family, they were followed by the attendant and kind of harped on. Guess they take a very hands on approach to sales and up selling. Regardless, I'd probably buy some plants from them in the future, as long as I can get the space I need to make a decision lol. Some prices I saw today if you need a point of comparison: - Spider Plant: $8 for small-medium pot. According to my mom, our certified Steve Irwin of house plants, this is a bit pricey. Amazon shows similar prices & you have the benefit of supporting a small local business & getting your plant instantly & being able to check out the quality in person. Seems fine to me! - Small Succulents/Cacti: 1 for $4 or 2 for $7. Cute & trendy, everyone's got one so you might as well too! (Not judging you, I swear! I am also on this same band wagon lol). Quick google search shows that the price seems right. They looked to be in fairly good condition as well. Will update this review after I've purchased a plant or two

He proposed tasteful changes such as replacing our blight-stricken boxwoods with blight-resistant Japanese holly, adding a couple of attractive trees to the front yard, and adding red mulch to our soil. He answered all of our questions and concerns adeptly. We could tell he knew his stuff! Max oversaw the work and did and excellent job. I've always had a solid experience. This time, I came with more purpose. We finally bought a window box for summer and wanted to fill it with a nice variety of spring and summer flowers. As other reviews mention, Chelsea Garden Center is on the pricey side, but not wildly expensive. They have the best variety I found in Brooklyn, even more so than Home Depot or Lowe's. I was able to fill my flower box with about $60 worth of flowers. I was really hoping to get some pansies, but they didn't have them. But I got some gorgeous petunias!

The guy who runs it is very helpful; the woman who's often behind the counter really can't be bothered, but I actually find her crotchetiness to be amusing. Most of their outdoor plants & trees come from Monrovia nurseries, where most plants in the United States seem to come from; I've found them to be healthy and well-cared for. They've also got a small selection of indoor plants, garden supplies, pots & planters, trellises, etc. They'll deliver as much stuff as you want to buy for $50., and they've been nice enough to even deliver a large planter I bought elsewhere (at Home Goods, across the way) along with my purchases, at no extra charge. If you pay a reasonable fee to have them plant your trees or etc for you, they have a 1-year guarantee that they'll grow and be healthy, and they make good on that. If you want to do the planting yourself, they're happy to give you instructions and tips. My favorite garden center!
