made a reservation online for a cargo van for moving. I get here it's not available even though online it says you get upgraded for free not the case. I do everything online come into the store. They don't have the van available and they were trying to charge me way more they also don't accept tap so if you don't have a card physically find something else. read more

they had me waiting for about 30 min just to tell me that I have to remove the driveshaft from the car I was trying to tow. The woman at the counter just said "sorry you cant tow it" didnt even try to help or nothing. She spent the whole time complaining about her job as if nobody else had problems. I'm a mechanic and believe me I do things more risky and stressful than sitting behind a counter talking to people. read more

This U-Haul storage unit is by far one of my favorites due to the amazing employees and the manager. The manager Sherrell and the employee Todd were a delight to work with yesterday. Very enthusiastic and helpful. You can tell they really value and appreciate their job as well as the customers they engage with! Someone please give them a raise it's well-deserved! I have now used this specific site for my last two moves and even the storage unit. I love how secure this U-Haul facility is and how many different access requirements are needed before even getting to the storage unit floors. I have never been afraid of my belongings being broken into or stolen due to the high level of security. read more

The staff were great and helpful, but U-Haul needs to update its deceitful bait and switch rental process. When making a reservation online, I was given the option to pay $15 for vehicle coverage, or decline coverage and agree to pay for any vehicle damage. I declined coverage, but when I went to pick up the vehicle, I was told that I could not take the vehicle unless I paid for the coverage. Like I'm sure most people do, I ended up paying for it given I was already there and it would have been more of an inconvenience to not pay it at that point. If this coverage is required, this needs to be made clear in the reservation process and declining the coverage should not even be an option. They also don't provide the vehicle with a full tank of gas and instead give it to you with some obscure amount in the tank that you are then required to guess how much gas it takes to return it to that point. read more

Rented a 92$ a mo storage unit from UHAUL two days after having flown into Houston 15 months ago. Job I flew to Houston for didn't even exist...and, I've accessed my unit DAILY, so I got to know the dude's here fairly well. Good dudes, Steven, Marcus, Jose, and Ben. I spoke more with them actually then ANY one else in Houston, besides co workers. Non aggressive dudes, just hard working people, having to put up with A LOT of catt-y bullsh** DAILY (like me, for example, my always accessing my unit rt before closing-time? Laughter.) Very friendly and helpful. I was in and out quick, and it was very painless. They even checked my fuses for me to make sure all my lights would work correctly on the trailer. Uhaul is pretty pricey (500 to rent a 6x12 trailer) but the process is easy.. read more

Manager couldn't be bothered to put the keys for my rental in the lockbox so that I could pick it up after hours. Wasted my entire night. Then also couldn't be bothered to call me so that I could get refunded after I sat on the phone with customer service for an hour and was told he would call me. We recently moved from Houston to San Antonio and had a great experience with the Midtown location. We had a big storage room full of stuff that we needed to move down to San Antonio. Since we have been living in San Antonio for the past year,we really didn't have any idea how we were going to do it ourselves - it was just my wife & I. Since we just had a baby, I wanted to spend as little money as possible moving the remainder of our stuff to San Antonio. I do not remember the guys name who helped me get the truck that I needed. I thought I was going to need a 24ft truck (a big one), but I told him I wasn't sure. He walked with me to my storage and saw what I was moving; he assured me that I could fit it all in a 17ft Uhaul if I packed it right. It sounded good to me, only problem was that I had no idea how I was going to pack everything into the truck since it was only me and my wife. I told him I could try a few guys from Home Depot, but he quickly sot that idea down; he said it would take real movers to properly pack it - not random day-laborers. I was happy to hear that I could get a smaller truck, it meant less money to rent and gas it up, but then I was punched in the gut by the fact I couldn't load it like a professional. When we got back to the office, he told me I could hire movers from this site he knows (www.movers4houston.com). He said the guys were cheap and good. Sure enough, the guys loaded my truck in 3 hours, total cost of $140. Thank you Uhaul for having competent employees who actually try to help. I know he didn't have to walk with me to the storage, convince me to get a smaller truck, or connect me with cheap movers to load my things. Some places really do not care, but its apparent that your team likes to be useful. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE!!! Robert is incompetent, and is not responsive to issues. The first hitch was ordered by Robert. I kept having to call and check on if it had come in yet. After calling several times, I was told that the hitch was on back order, and that he was ordering a hitch that is "exactly" the same, but just a different manufacturer. I was told he would call me when it came in. The hitch was in, but Robert never called me to let me know. When I called to ask, he said "Oh it came in a few days ago." Guess I was expected to read his mind???? After making appointments and Robert finally having someone available to do the install, Robert told me it would take 30 to 45 minutes, and that my husband could just drop by on his lunch hour. It took over 2 1/2 hours for the install. Upset, I called Robert on his cell and told him how long my husband had been waiting. He called my husband and told him that they guy installing had never done any installation on his own before. The hitch ended up being crooked and angled towards the ground. It also did not tuck up under the car the way that it should have. Big waste of time! So, another was ordered, installed crooked, and was told that they had drilled holes into the frame of my car to do the install. They never told me they were going to do this! Had they ordered the correct one, they should have never had to drill holes into the frame. We got the original quote on Aug 30th, and was told, they would be able to install it within a few days. I just had the second hitch uninstalled today, Oct 17th, and will have to contact someone else to install a hitch. They gave me a full refund, with no apologies...not even one throughout this whole ordeal. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT CAPABLE!!!! Please save yourself some grief and go somewhere else if you need a hitch installed. read more

I have gone to a couple Uhaul locations in Houston over the past 10 years. I went to this specific loacationbecause they were on the train line and I thought it would be convenient. Beyond the convenient location, this place has no redeeming value. I have to say this place is not serious about their business or what they do. THEY DO NOT CHECK THEIR VEHICLES FOR SAFETY BEFORE THEY RENT THEM OUT! I rented a 14' truck for a cross-country move. I didn't mind that they gave me a truck with graffitti on the side. They gave me the keys and didn't really explain much about how the truck worked and its idiosyncrasies, which surprised me a bit, but I just went with it. An hour into my drive on I-10, I nearly got into an accident with a car on my side, I pulled over into a gas station, and discovered that the signals and breaks lights on the vehicle were not functional! Uhaul-central got someone to come out and fix the problem. They said this was something the Uhaul location should have checked before they sent the vehicle out on the road. Surely for the sake of their vehicles (if not for the safety of the passengers) you think this would be something they would check before renting out the vehicle! These people don't care about your safety or their own trucks apparently! read more

This used to be my favorite location. But since they have changed the system so even though an actual phone number is listed you are still talking to an operator and they don't tell you that. So twice now I've made a reservation got ready to go and they call when I'm already in my way and change the location because the "equipment is not avaliable"......what is the point of even making a reservation if it's going to get changed on me every time I make one?! read more

Hope you read these reviews as one cant leave one on the uhaul site unless you have a contract #. All goes through call center - you can never get through directly - BEWARE! Waited a week to have class 3 hitch apt (was giving them all day to install) and even received emails for apt 2 days before. When I called day before (good thing) they said "it doesn't look like your hitch is in. Asked fro mgr Marco to call me to confirm at 4 pm so I could plan the next day. Never Called. Called next morning - he's not avail. Asked call center to cancel. Good News is that I found Master Hitch is $50 cheaper and can do it in 30 minutes! Thanks UHAUL for saving me money by providing CRAP service.... Update 5 days later- no credit back yet, had to call corp customer service. The call center never cancelled my order...... read more

Best Uhaul ever! They called a couple days ahead to remind me of my reservation. They set a time and were flexible when I called to move it up 1/2 hour. The front desk was staffed by polite, friendly, and competent people. They had the size of truck I had requested (other Uhauls in the past have not!), they went over the entire contract with me, and we were out of there in under ten minutes. They don't even deserve this star but yelp is making me choose one. this store sucks. We reserved a moving truck with a car trailer three weeks ago. Also reserved movers to load and unload the truck. So everything had to be timed accordingly. We drove four hours to this location where we were told the rental truck would be. Well we get here and are told the person last using the truck dropped it off in Texas city. Should have been dropped off at San Jacinto. Now we get a call from the store that Texas city doesn't have the auto transport. This whole move is screwed up now. the employee had no excuse as to why we weren't notified. Just "i don't know?". Incompetent staff incompetent company. Do not rent from any U-Haul. read more

Good layout to the location, so trailers can be pulled in easily. Friendly and helpful staff. My rental was a very simple one, but I needed a couple of hitch accessories, which they had in stock at good prices. A new trainee needed a little time to hitch the trailer for me and had to ask for help, but I give her an A for effort. Online reservation system is def the way to go to save time. read more
