Nick is quick to get a rental ready for us, even at the end of the day. Paula is always on top of her game and ready to serve. I appreciate the personal service I have received from both of them.

I called and spoke with, I think, Callie(?). Explained my needs, and I asked if a screen shot of my insurance card was ok or if she needed a hard copy. She said she has to have verbal confirmation from the company. Well I can RARELY ever get ahold of my agent, but had actually just spoken to her, so I said she could reach him now, or would have to call the 800 number. After 45 minutes I had not heard back, so I called again and was told her had JUST called him and got no answer. Thanks for waiting. To add insult to injury, she was told the 800 number could only send by email and could take 10 days! WHAT??!? But I said no problem. I just looked it up on their app and it has my full policy details right there. She said "Yeah, but anybody can take a screenprint!" I said It's NOT a screenprint!! It's an APP! An interactive app! I can't fake that! She was sorry, (yep) but had to speak to someone to confirm. Unbelievable. LUCKILY, I was able to reach my agent by text and he spoke with her and got what she needed. All absolutely unnecessary though, had somebody been able to engage her thinking capability. This company needs that as a policy. Oh, and I didn't even get a receipt!!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after nearly 20 years of doing business with U-Haul/Public…read moreStorage, this experience was unacceptable. This occurred at the League City/Webster location off I-45 South. I originally rented a box truck back in February and was told--just like the hold message still advertises today--that renting a truck includes one free month of storage with "no strings attached." I specifically asked multiple times if that was really the case, and I was repeatedly assured that it was. Over the following months, I spoke with seven different representatives, asking the same question each time because I wanted to be absolutely certain before using the promotion. Every single one confirmed that I simply needed to redeem it before my next billing cycle. Two days before my payment was due, I called again and was told I could complete everything online and simply check in at the facility. When the online process failed, I went to the office where manager Josh handled my account. Instead of trying to solve the problem, he appeared frustrated and overworked, gave what sounded like a scripted response, and repeatedly talked over me. When I explained that U-Haul had honored similar promotions for me in the past by allowing me to transfer the unit to my wife, mother, or another family member after physically moving the contents, he interrupted me and accused me--in front of other customers--of trying to "undermine" or "manipulate the system." That was insulting. I wasn't trying to game the system. I was simply explaining what your own employees had repeatedly told me and what your company had allowed in the past. The entire ordeal cost me an entire day of work, and at no point did anyone acknowledge that or express any concern for the inconvenience their mistakes caused. It became obvious that my time meant very little to the company. After leaving, I escalated the issue to corporate. The regional manager, Jerry, never apologized, never offered a solution, and simply thanked me before ending the call. It felt like I was talking to an automated process rather than people who genuinely cared about resolving a customer's problem. To make matters worse, I later called back to get Josh's last name. He answered, I said "hello" twice, and he hung up on me. When I called back, instead of acknowledging that he had disconnected the call or apologizing for it, he insisted that he had said hello, waited three seconds without hearing a response, and then hung up. He seemed far more interested in arguing that he had done nothing wrong than taking responsibility. He talked over me again, claimed he had shown empathy because he apologized for turning me away, but he never apologized for hanging up on me. Instead, he continued defending his company's poor handling of the situation instead of trying to resolve it. The most disappointing part wasn't losing a free month of storage--it was the complete lack of ownership, empathy, and respect. After nearly 20 years as a loyal customer, I was treated like someone trying to scam the system instead of someone simply asking the company to honor what multiple employees had promised. I hope U-Haul takes a serious look at how this location handles customer concerns. Policies are one thing, but treating loyal customers with respect should never be optional. I'll be paying my final month of storage in July, and after that I'll be moving my business to one of U-Haul's competitors.

I've rented a box truck for the day here, and it was an OK experience. But I really like this place because of the propane refills. It's quick and easy. Just press the button, and the dude comes out and fills your tanks. Period.

I arrived at 12:30PM on a Sunday to return our car. We met an employee outside who told us that we can just leave the car and keys there, and he'd take care of it. Prior to leaving my home, I had called Budget's main number to ask what I should do to protect myself from potential overcharge and was told to take photos, so I took one of the car w/the storefront and also took a photo of the toll transponder to show I returned both; the photo would provide the meta date for time and date if there was a discrepancy. After I unloaded our luggage, I did go inside to speak to someone and confirmed that I could just leave the car there. We hailed Uber; while waiting, the guy we original spoke to did whatever he was supposed to w/the car. It's just that we're used to someone scanning the vehicle and handing us a receipt, but by the time I got onto the ship, the receipt was emailed to me. My experience was pretty positive, but that could be because the rush was over. Prior to arriving, I called this location several times during business hours, but no one picked up, which could be worrisome (if you rented from them and had an issue, etc.). Info not related to Avis/Budget: This location is in a huge outdoor mall, so you can get last minute items at the Dollar Tree, which we did prior to returning the car. It's about 15 miles from port. Uber was easy to get, but the first person did cancel on us, so don't wait till the last minute. Boarding was fairly simple.
