DO NOT RENT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED! Highly DON'T recommend using the U-Haul on Good Hope Rd. My husband rented a truck from there today, and when he returned it the employee told him he didn't return it with the correct amount of gas. Even though he had filled it back up with the amount he used. When he told her he would leave and fill it, she refused to let him. She said it would be a $54 charge no matter what. Then she said "unless you tip me". Which, he laughed at. Then she said "no, I'm serious". So he tipped her $10 to get out of the situation. Which, completely cleared up the "$54 charge". I don't know why he actually did this and why he didn't call her manager or corporate. But... I just hope she really needed that $10. Because... that's a pretty horrible thing to do to somebody. Date of visit: May 12, 2024 I had a need for a short term vehicle to move a mattress for a family member that couldn't be bothered to assist even though it was a free mattress for them, but I digress. The local Home Depots had no reservations available for weeks, but this U Haul had vans available same day, on a Sunday! Reserving online was relatively painless and even though there were a ridiculous amount of steps involved such as scanning every angle of my driver's license, the system walked me through the process. I arrived at the location and was a bit dismayed that the only parking for customers was a handful of 15 minute spots near the front door. Not seeing anything else, I rolled the dice. The app required even more info from me when I arrived (good thing I did bring my passport with me, just in case!) and within a few minutes, I was ready to go. The site told me that vans were on the east side of the building, near storage so that's where I headed. I encountered an employee on a bike who advised that vans were actually directly across from the building and just so happened to be immediately across from my car. He also directed me where to go when I returned. After a couple minutes, I was on my way with the van. The vehicle was pretty clean and in good condition, no issues there. Only issue was the wait when I returned, it took a good 10 minutes for him to come meet me at our designated spot, but then check out was painless! read more

This 1 star is only for me to be able to post a review. My experience at the Good Hope location was horrid. Before I start I would like to commend DeShayne for being courteous. I explained I wanted to load my box truck that day, return the following day to auto transport my car. She offered detailed tips for one-way travel. More importantly DeShayne noticed I was overcharged by $600 and quickly issued a refund. I returned the next day to hitch my vehicle onto the auto transport. My friend and I came about 15-20 min before closing NOBODY greeted us despite being the only customers in the lobby. I knew I was in trouble once I saw a white young man w/ shoulder-length hair, Adrian, publicly VAPING at the front desk. I explained my situation and all the associates were looking around as who's turn it was to help the customer. Adrian gave the most incompetent directions on how to secure my car. He then says, "It's closing time and walks off." My petite friend drove the car on the trailer and had to SQUEEZE out of the car. Adrian never told us about the button to let the side panel down. I injured my finger trying to move the metal clamps per Adrian's instructions. I walked across the lot, asking Adrian again to please walk us through the process. He flat-out told me, "My manager didn't even want me to help you, I have stuff to do." "DeShayne said you would come back at 5pm & you missed your reservation." NO CONVERSATION WAS HAD ABOUT RETURNING AT 5PM. He walks off again. By this time I'm steaming-asking for the manager. The female associate witnesses this and pleas with Adrian to just check if the straps are secured. Again with the snarky comments, "If the straps are on, then it's secured." My jaw drops! Now I'm calling a tow company who was more than willing to help. No doubt my car would've rolled off the auto-transport causing major injuries/damages and even death if I just listened to Adrian's advice!! Had he taken 10 min to give detailed instructions, all of us wouldn't have had to spend an extra 35 min after closing time to proceed with our lives. As we are prepared to leave, John (manager) finally comes over and straps the tires down and anchors it with hooks. He shows us the button to lower the side panel for easy access to the car door. Although he had an attitude, I am grateful I didn't have to travel across town to the tow shop. I am a first time customer who spent A LOT of money with this company. I have worked several customer service jobs and would not dare be so flippant towards a customer. I deeply regret for ever considering U-haul. read more

Let's talk about making something that should be relatively simple into a huge hassle and headache..... I needed to refill my propane tank for my gas grill. After some internet searching, I found the lowest price and closest filling station to my work was this U-Haul. Now, I have never had to get a propane tank refilled and I really didn't know how it worked. I went inside where there was 1 girl working at the counter and 2 employees chit-chatting. The 2 employees saw me walk in and they went into the back....There was a debate going on between a couple regarding which size truck they should rent. The poor girl at the service counter must have been thinking "just make up your mind already!" because I stood behind them for several minutes I was thinking just that. All I needed to ask what "how do I do this?" I was really annoyed the other employees vanished.... I finally was able to ask my question, and the girl told me to go over to the filling station and someone would be right there. I heard her page someone to the propane station. I take my car with the empty propane tank over to the filling station. I was listening to the radio; one song is played, then a second, then a third, and commercials. I had been waiting for nearly 15 minutes before I spotted an older gentleman coming out of the main building with a bag of fast food. There were two Uhaul vans set up for cleaning.... he put the fast food bag in one van. Then he got inside the other van, sat down in the drivers seat, and closed the door. I ran up to him and asked if he was coming to help me. He grumbled that I should have had someone paged. I told him the girl did page someone. He grumbled some more that I should go inside and take it up with the girl because he isn't suppose to assist with propane and he was very busy. He ended up filling up the propane tank, and I had previously researched my specific tank. It was completely empty and can hold 4.9 gallons of gas. He gave me 3 gallons, which at this point I was fine with because I really wanted to leave. I went back inside and paid. I didn't say anything about the "very busy" crabby man to the girl, she seemed frazzled as it was. I got home and discovered he didn't even close the valve on my tank!!! I should have checked before putting it back in my trunk, but I didn't because I was too distracted thinking of this review I needed to write. Overall, something that should have taken maybe 5-8 minutes took over half an hour, I had Mr. Crabby Pants grumbling up a storm at me, and I needed to take 3 ib profin. Pros: cheap propane Cons: everything else When the tank runs out of gas again, which will probably be soon, I'll go to a different UHaul location or somewhere else entirely. read more

AOK, but not without its demerits... Pros: -relatively cheap (14 foot truck at 29.95 + 32 miles at .79/mile + $14 "I don't want to pay $45,000 for a new U-Haul in case I crash this thing" insurance = $72 and change, total) -relatively easy (sign and drive!) -cheaper than movers if you're willing to put in the grunt work, we moved all of our "big" stuff in about 3 hours' time Cons: -long, long line; rental facility understaffed on the counter tip for sure -a pretty serious disconnect between their scheduling department and the folks who get you the equipment you need; don't be surprised if your reservation is wrong or even ends up getting changed/cancelled (there has to be a way to fix this, right? Life finds a way?) -The whole "fill the gas tank to where it was or you get charged a brazillion bucks" gets U-Haul tons of free gas, which is sneaky and smart on the company's tip, but kind of annoying since there's no way to not overfill the tank Bottom line: double check your reservation to make sure it's correct, use their online system for booking if you can (myuhaul.com), and watch that gas tank like a hawk so you don't give U-Haul free tons of free gas. Then put on your lifting pants and get to work, son. read more

This place is a joke. They overcharged me, then told me they would issue me a refund only for me to discover 10 days later that the refund was never issued. I will never visit this location again as every time I have been here the level of professionalism and sense of urgency is subpar. This place makes U-haul look really bad. read more

I go here to fill my propane tank. That's it. It's so close to home and open on Sunday that it is what it is. Upon arrival I flag someone down and they fill my tank I go in and pay. Longest I've waited is about 15 minutes. I have 2 tanks for propane so when one runs out it's not an emergency to go get the tank filled. There's really nothing special or spectaclur about this place. It is what it is. read more

The business chose not to serve or assist a white male on two different occasions. On two separate days despite being told that someone would assist with a propane tank fill no one came. The first day, I was told that the person who does that is on break and I should go somewhere else. This is after coming in to the store and the person at the counter ignored me and started stacking items. She then said someone would be with me. No one came. I waited 30 minutes. The second day was more of the same and it was obvious that the color of my skin affected the fact that no one would be helping me. Don't support this business. They are completely racist! For business purposes we got a 26 foot truck and during the inspection I noticed a light on in the dash-board. I asked the guy doing the maint. about it and was told not to worry. We drove the truck about eight miles and found it to be severely leaking anti-freeze. I know they had other trucks there but when I called them about the problem they just told me to call roadside assistance. Buyer beware, check under the hood before leaving the parking lot. And get your rental trucks elsewhere, you will get no help here. read more

Every now and then I need my propane filled. There are people who work outside who act like they can't see us. Then, we go in side to wait 15-20 minutes in line to ask for assistance with propane just to get told that I need to get someone from outside. This place is a mess and does not have enough workers. It is ridiculous how much time I waste here when it should only be a 10 minute run. read more

I went here today. When we first pulled into the parking lot, there were a lot of cars, so it seemed like it was busy. When I walked inside, the place had absolutely no customers..or employees! It was as quiet as a library. I got the box I wanted and headed to the register. I waited there for a good 5 minutes with no one in the building. I could hear people in the back, but no one to assist me. It was weird. Then all of a sudden someone comes in through the front door. I thought it was another customer, but it was an employee to finally help me. The transaction went okay. I just think this place needs more attentive and involved employees. There was no one there to greet me or help me find anything I needed like usual at stores. It was a weird experience. read more

Worst company policies as a whole, and awful service at this location. Was on hold 10 minutes, for them to pick up the phone and hang up without a word. Called back, someone was a bit more helpful, but my pick up time couldn't be confirmed until the end of day - the day prior to truck pick up. I am sorry, but I need help moving, and need to set up times. Note, I called 5 days prior to my rental! I was transferred to the regional office where the lady had more of an attitude and didn't care I wouldn't be able to plan a move, and couldn't provide a reason for this "policy". I cancelled my reservation then...hopefully I never have to talk to them again. read more

Recently I needed some assistance at my storage unit. I called Steve Eberhardy, the General Manager, and explained my situation. Literally within five minutes two very polite and professional crew members arrived and helped me. Steve keeps his storage buildings clean and safe. Would absolutely recommend this business.
