Prices aren't all that bad, but being towards the end of the day, a lot of the handwriting paint bottles were empty which made us scramble and get creative with the brushes. Great studio! Whether you're looking to kill a little time, celebrate a birthday or express your creative side, this is the spot. I've been to a different studio similar to this one. By far, this is the best I've been to. I was impressed with how well organized this location is, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and the offerings. For an average of $20 a person, you can't beat it. We spent 1.5 hours here and really enjoyed it. Lots of paint, stamping and specialty paint selections. It was very busy when we went as well, lots of young families! Your kiddos would enjoy it. Regarding the process, you simply pick out a piece you want to paint. You the. Pick out all the items you want to use to craft it, and go to work. The staff then glaze and fire it for you before pickup. The turnaround time for pickup was 3 days for us. read more

I was invited here to meet with my son's friend and his mother. When I first walked in there were a plethora of individuals in store. I was immediately worried that we would not have a table for our little group. My son loved spending the first few minutes choosing his piece to paint. He of course chose the quad. This was his first time painting this way so he was a little frustrated with the multiple layers of paint that are needed. However, when we received his piece we showed him why that is important and he stated he will do more layers of paint for BRIGHTER colors. The pieces were done and awaiting our arrival on the day promised and could not have been more impressed with the ease of picking up. My daughter and I stopped by for an afternoon of painting and had a blast. The process is really simple as well. You simply choose your pottery piece from the wall *prices vary depending on size*, Take it to the register and pay the $5 studio fee per painter, one of the employees will then show you where everything is and you are in your way to paint your masterpiece! My daughter and I brought some Starbucks and literally spent hours painting. She ended up choosing a donut trinket box and I chose a small pumpkin for Halloween. The location is pretty big and very clean. The only reason I am giving 4 stars vs. 5 is because the staff gave off a less than thrilled to be there vibe, but it wasn't enough to keep me away. There were still helpful and friendly. Just a bit of constructive cristism! I picked up our pieces 4 days later and they turned out great. We will definitely back to try this again! read more

I love spending a day here. It's great relaxation and I get to take home something at the end, too. (Well, I get to take it home about a week later after it's been fired) There is a flat $5 studio fee per person per visit. I like to spend the day and paint a few things each time. Pottery prices range from $1 to $65+ for some of the really large pieces. The selection changes with the seasons so there's always something new to choose from. They give you all the supplies you'll need to create something great, including stencils and stamps. You can even create glass art as well. I love that I can bring my own snacks and drinks, spend the day, take home a memory and leave the mess for someone else to clean up. I do wish they would get a larger selection of paint colors. What an awesome place for all ages!! They have an amazing selection of pieces to create. Plates, cups, mugs, piggie banks, coasters, magnets, figurines, letters.. you name it! I was a little disappointed at the prices because I thought there would be a bigger selection of cheaper items. The only things that are in the $5 range are magnets. Most of the good stuff is $15 and up. There is also a $5 per person studio fee to cover paint and supplies. So it turned out to be nearly $70 to paint one mug, one piggie bank, and one decorative statue (all pretty small sizes). But I know you pay for the experience and the customization so I would definitely still return despite the higher prices. There is a pretty good selection of paint and supplies. There are a lot of different stamps (stencils) you can use. The paint colors are also available with a needle-point end for preciseness. Each table has a variety of brushes, a fan to help dry, a water jar, and tons of napkins. They supply anything you could possibly need and they clean up after you. We spent about 2.5 hours here and had a great time. read more

My daughter loves coming here. We held her birthday party here as well and all of the kids had a blast. The story time is fun way for the kids to do more then paint as I know my daughter enjoys going up front to hear what book will be read. Glad to see one of these places pop up on the west side! I have been to one back in my college town a few times years ago and was excited to go again when invited recently. Really fun place for a girls night to sit around and talk and paint. They also have a calender of activities each month [check out their website for details!]. For example, they recently had an event for kids to paint an Olaf [Frozen] plate, adorable. They even have a big table area just for parties and there was actually a birthday party going on while I was there. Lots of different types of pottery to paint, so you can find something that you can either use [like a mug or plate] or simply display [tons of little statues, letters, etc.]. Prices are what I expected, but it is not the cheapest craft ever since you are paying for a full piece of pottery. However, there are a variety of different price points, so it works for lots of budgets. There is a flat fee for the studio visit regardless of how many pieces you paint and then pricing varies for each piece from there. Included in the studio fee is access to a bunch of different paints, brushes, stencils, stamps etc. Lots of stuff to get creative with! They have examples of what the paints will look like when fired by each bottle, there is usually a big difference between the way it will look when you paint it and when you pick it up. Super nice employees who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We went here over Spring Break with a 4,5 and 7 year old and all of us had a lot of fun creating our own masterpieces. This Upaint location is trash. Customer service needs a lot of improvement. Maybe if it wasn't bratty teenagers it would be better. I loved coming here because it was close to home and relaxed me after a long day. I went to the uPaint in greenwood a few weeks back and had an amazing experience. I didn't realize how low the Plainfield store was until I went to the greenwood location. I've had half the store lights turned off on me TWICE and had to finish projects I was working on while being rushed so the girls could go home. My last two projects at the plainfield location were ALMOST perfect my last touches were either rushed and sloppy, or not finished. The girls walk around on their phones gossiping to their friends on FaceTime and to each other. Nobody wants to hear their petty gossip. People go there to have a good time and or relax and I only get that at the greenwood location. Unfortunately Plainfield is closest for a lot of people so that's where they go, if you have the option I would go to greenwood. read more

Lots of different pieces at different price points from which to choose. The calendar of activities is great. It would be nice if they'd get some of the snazzier glazes. There are some very cool glazes out there that you can find at other local pottery shops. I don't have the patience to stencil, but love the fancy glazes. read more

I painted a pot here it was wonderful, good place to be with friends doing something fun when no one knows what else to do. So you walk in, pick an item to paint from the shelf, and pay and paint. All the items have a price in pencil (the lead burns off in the process) and the two times I've walked in to paint, they come up and ask if I've ever been there before which is lovely. When you pay, you pay for the pottery and a five dollar (i think it's five) studio fee so basically it's for the paints and such. Last time I got a four dollar item and they cut my fee in half since the item was less expensive than my purchase. They also did it for the person behind me since their item was less expensive than the five dollar fee. They tell you every time to do three layers of paint for the desired color and you get to pick paints, brushes, sponges, stencils, and more. My first pot I tried this thing from pinterest and basically did a layered pour which I do not suggest since more than three layers were used and I came back for it and apparently my pot broke something cause it got stuck and also cracked so they gave me a new fee pot to retry and I did a starry sky thing instead. They have a creative range of creative ways to design whatever you want to make. Many tables with napkins, fans, and a jar of water. They have a restroom and I think even a party area.
