The company I sold my Volvo to arranged to have U-Pick Parts come and get it from my house. I talked to Ramon and made the arrangements, he was nice and gave me the info I needed. He followed up the day of the pick up and gave me updates. When the tow truck was a bit late, I called Ramon and he was easy to get a hold of, always nice and told me what's going on. The driver that showed up was also nice, polite, brought the check with him, paperwork and guided us through the process. The location I go to (8103 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90001) is great with competitive prices...IF you can find parts for your vehicle make/model/year range. I say this because this particular location is very small in comparison; it's the smallest yard that I have visited, and I have been to many. Because of this their inventory is very limited. It's a good thing that their website has a 'check inventory' feature; however, the vehicle you're after might have already had all the parts you need stripped by the time you get there! read more

When it comes to business dealing with cars and car parts I usually leave the judgement and review up to my husband. Me personally (seeing that I'm not a mechanic) I usually look at how organized the business is and if there is plenty of help and or assistance. I appreciate the fact that the cars are organized by make, which makes it easier for you find the car you're looking for. I feel customer parking is plenty and I always appreciate street vendors selling cool drinks. They are organized from entry to exit. No confusion and their setup also cuts down on the stealing. My husband said that he feels their prices are reasonable seeing how close they are to us in distance. He feels that travel time to get there isn't bad and most of the time he receives deals on his parts. He says most of the time he finds the exact part that he's looking for. read more

This is a small junkyard and sometimes seems like a ghost town. Because not that many people frequent this lot. They have free "stolen" shopping carts that you can use to put your tools/parts in while you are shopping. When I say "stolen," I mean that. Carts are from every place from Target, Walmart, to Ralphs, Vons lol. But, it's good that they have free carts here. They charge $2 at the gate. They don't charge any taxes on their entrance fee. They don't have any special lot. Basically it's only 1 lot. Their cars are only separated by domestic vs foreign. Their foreign cars tend to have a lot of Jaguar XJ and Benz cars for their luxury brand. Their domestic lot tend to have a lot of Dodge Intrepid/Neon brand crap. They write the date on the cars when they bring them out. So if you came here a week ago and want to know what's new, all you have to do is look on the cars to see the dates they were brought out. But this place keeps their cars too long. I've seen cars as old as 6 months, that were gutted out. I'm not sure why they would keep a car that long when all the good parts have been remove. I guess they can't get any new cars frequently. This lot is full of amateurs who come here and break good parts because they can't successfully remove them. It makes me sick to see someone attempt to pull an outside rearview mirror off with a flat head and break the housing. Then leave it hanging. So if you come here, the best way to get some good parts is right after they bring a car out. That way you can be the among the first to remove good parts before some idiot starts breaking and destroying good parts. Like most lots, their selections are basically 80s, 90s, and no newer than 2001 cars, unless its small like a Ford Focus or a small type of car. But they don't have the best selection of domestic cars. They tend to get the worst domestic cars here. I've seen a front end clip of a car one time I was here lol. What happened to the rest of the car? I've also seen cars that were torched beyond belief here. What part can be removed from a fire-damaged car? Sometimes I wonder about this lot. I would say come here once a month. Don't come every week or biweekly. You will see the same cars and thus will be very disappointed. One thing I noticed is that there are people who come here that are friends of the employees who get to go through every fresh car that the employees put out before the general public. They remove nice aftermarket radios, nice tires, or anything of good value. So if you come here and see them put a car out. But you see a handful of Latinos who don't work here taking on the car before you can get access to it, the employees are basically unfairly giving these people first access to these cars before the general public. One good thing about the employees here is that they tend to keep this lot clean. So it's cleaner than most junkyards I've seen. But this lot is smaller than I've seen as well. So it should be easy to keep the lot clean. There are 2 known cashier booths. One is for cash only. The other is for cash or credit card. If you use your debit/credit card (employed by a skinny Caucasian or heavy set Latino), expect to get ripped off by any one in the cash/debit both. They routinely charge you different prices for anything and they don't adhere to their posted prices that are clearly marked at the location. For example, Ive been charged from $12-$20 for the same outside rearview mirror assembly in the same day. I bought driverside and had to come back to get the passengerside an hour later. They charged me two different prices. Wow! So their prices are negotiable. You just have to argue them down or just walk away from the part all together. But the skinny Caucasian cashier tend to work both cashier booths. So try to avoid him. But he is somewhat negotiable. However, stay far away from the heavy set Latino who works the debit/credit card booth religiously. He will not negotiate and he's the worst for ripping you off. Also, since people tend to steal here, be prepared to go through metal detector by security. read more

They don't deserve a single star!! Big FAIL to Kenny, Mark, and Juan! I was referred to them by my mechanic so I was under the impression that they were a good company. I called last week on Tuesday to schedule a pick up and I was told by Mark that I would get a call from the dispatcher on Wednesday morning for pick up that day. It was Wednesday at 4 pm and I had not received a call and I called them but Juan didn't know what to say. Finally, I get a hold of Mark and he said he would have Kenny call me to set this up but Kenny never called. So here comes Thursday morning I finally get that call and they can pick up my car at 3pm so I left work early, their driver calls me at 2:50 that he was at my home and refuses to wait for me 10 minutes. Now it's Thursday again and it's 4:02 I left work early again and no one has shown up, I called them and once again Juan doesn't have an answer, I was given Kenny's cell and he isn't answering. read more

This place is fantastic. The cars are always changing and they're usually pretty complete so you can get what you need. The staff is friendly and make me feel at home cracking jokes and helping pull motors with the forklift instead of me pulling it out myself like other yards. Careful what you buy. Look closely at the items because the replacement panels I got for my car had been repair by the original owner (bondo). Went back and explain the bad decision I made when I removed the panels and how they dont square with my car, didnt even care. I opted on paying more warranty, no cigar. read more

My boy was telling me how amazingly different his experience was from this page's past reviews. Maybe they caught on with the times and the people who own it see the connection between being accountable and business being profitable. He said he was amazed at how Juan was really helpful and went above and beyond. Maybe they thought he was an auditor or something. But he really helped out. The other cashier guys seem like your regular run of the mill junkyard types. Not too super helpful and just getting by. But they weren't horrible or rude either. There was a security guy at the front but didn't notice any open carry firearm on him but not that he looked at hard for one. But I'm sure if it was a big shiny revolver he would have said something. Could be concealed, you never know. And the guard on duty didn't have annego trip or anything like that. He said too it was super clean compared to other bigger name places. And concrete! Not gravel like you'd twist an ankle like I almost did when he brought me to another yard. He says he doesn't know if this is the same Juan guy as the one who worked here several years ago that was reported on here. Could be a different Juan or just using the name but it was not the same Juan people are describing. Parts wise, probably slightly more than the big junkyards but not by much. But it's well maintained. Kept clean. And you don't feel like you might get murdered like in the giant lots of the big company. Overall it was a good experience he said and much better than what he was dreading from the older reviews. So that's why this place is getting 5*. Deserves a look if you wrote them off years ago. They have an online listing site that's not their name. It's a general parts finder organized by cars. Use it. It's legit. The area is industrial and sketch. He worried about leaving his car in the parking lot but that's the same way at all these car graveyards. But nobody bothered him inside. It wasn't too busy. And unless the car's been there for weeks they won't be picked over the first day like the other well known places. Kind of felt this needs to be kept as a hidden gem but they deserve the good karma. Overall a much better experience than other places. And not too many scary people means you probably could be a chick and get in and out with your part of you can pull it and not have too much hassle. Randoms pulling parts they need and or are going to sell wherever they do that. Admission is $3 and a liability waiver. So make sure you don't get hurt. Cars are different without their support struts and things like hoods are heavy! Like any place don't trip over parts that were taken off that weren't needed and just overall common sense. Juan just wasted my time and day. I called him earlier today to sell him my 1995 Chevy Lumina. He told me that he would have someone to come pick the car up today by 3pm. He called me back and said that he could have someone come before 1pm. The driver called and asked for my address, I gave it to him. I waited downstairs for the driver for over an hour, he was a no show. I called him repeatedly, he didn't answer. So I called Juan, Juan claimed that the driver came and him and the driver called me constantly to no avail. (But neither left a voice message) I told him that the driver never showed, and that I've been sitting downstairs waiting on him for over an hour. I didn't have any missed calls and all my other calls came in just fine. To sum things up. Juan tried to use the fact that when we spoke earlier I told him that where I was in the house my signal dropped while we was talking. He know that his driver never showed up. He told me, "I can have him to come Monday." I told him I work. He had the audacity to ask, "Can you take off work?" Really! Then he claimed that he was doing a favor for me. WOW! Buying a 1995 Chevy Lumina Sedan with a good running car with body intact for $300 is you doing a favor for me? He will make over a thousand off the car. He wasted my time and a lost of me selling the car today to another junk yard or person on craigslist. Juan is not an honest man and he has no respect or consideration for others time. I check one that looks good and check leaks I went to paid at the cashier and they where charging me many extras that I have to take out I end with only head and block still charges for core went I ask to buy not exchange mine engine bad decision I ended up with the used engine just bought it not good I went back because they charged me extra for 30 days guaranteed plus core that I have to gave mine the Manager showed up looking for any excuses check stamps sealed,sticker,paint marks , date on recibe and was my last day and the ignorant Manager end it Not accepting the used engine that I got it there because one paint mark was lighter than other i didn't get my guaranty, i lost mine engine and nothing back and nobody help never again to that lot a garbage people and cars consumers affair will have me a claim to follow up and teach those rats how to do businesses read more

I came to this place looking for MBZ parts. After walking around for a few minutes I found exactly what I needed. Took a quick tour afterwards and noticed that this is one of the cleanest and most organized "junkyards" around. They have all the cars organized from what I could see by trucks and vans, import and domestic. They also have a nice selection of used tires.
