Scope-wise, they removed a structural wall, added a new island, replaced all cabinets, added a butler's pantry, updated the flooring, upgraded the electrical, and took down the old plaster to install smooth drywall. We hired US Accurate for a pretty big project to replace the stucco on our 1500 sq ft house. This included removing the old stucco, putting in new waterproofing paper, and putting on new stucco. I have not worked with many other contractors in my experience and overall I would rate it as 3.5-4.0 stars. Things that went well: - Fred is very knowledgeable in general contracting. He was able to quickly answer any type of questions I had. - He has a team of workers and sub-contractors that can perform a variety of work, large and small. - Fred's English is excellent and we had no problems with communications or understanding each other. - The overall quality of the work is good and Fred's a good supervisor. Even though he was not on-site for most of the project, he would quickly resolve any issues that I escalated to him. For example, when his team accidentally cut our electric line and we lost power, or when one of the pipes was broken. He had an electrician and plumber onsite the same day to fix the issues. - I think Fred's a good person and believes in quality of his team's work. Areas to Improve: - These are my recommendations on a better customer experience from the perspective of someone NOT in the construction business so I'm not sure how feasible these are. - The main thing that I would recommend is more transparent pricing, especially on change orders. The original estimate/bid was very reasonable and itemized and that's one of the reasons we went with US Accurate. However, on a project like this, some change orders are probably inevitable, the costs and estimates were more elevated and had less broken out. For example, our big change order was that we would have to replace all of the wood sheathing and one wood beam because of dry rot. The cost for this came in at over $60K, which pretty much doubled our original budget. For something this big, it would make the customer feel more reassured, to have it broken out and explained. I asked Fred why we couldn't have a time & materials breakout for the change order and he said that they only do these as whole construction job contracts. I don't really understand that. Maybe this is the way things are done in general contracting but it would be much more customer friendly to offer estimates where you layout the time costs, the material costs and be more transparent. Even if those time costs include a markup. - The last thing I think would have been helpful is to have an onsite supervisor, even part-time. Maybe our job was not big enough to warrant it (our total cost came out to about $140K)? While Fred's teams were all good, each time had a capable lead, I think having someone here, at least part of the time, that could help coordinate between the teams would've been nice. Instead, it ended up with me talking to each of the team leads, and then calling or texting Fred. Summary: - Quality construction work - Some room for improvement on pricing transparency - I would work with Fred's team again. Next time I would ask for more transparency upfront. read more

So I have sold my home and moved out of the area now. Looking back, I ask myself if I would have chosen Fred again knowing what I know now, and the answer is still a resounding Yes! It's not even a question. I know some people go into this blind not having done major repairs or whole house rewires or worked with other contractors. Before I met Fred and US Acurate Constitution, I had subcontracted individual jobs out with other guys for plumbing and electrical and tiling with other contractors, and what a nightmare that was. First, let me tell you about my experiences of subcontracting myself with "the other guys." The plumber, I had to redo all his work. The electrician, I paid by the hour and he talked by the day. You were lucky to get one hour of work a day out of the guy. The tiling guy was on drugs, which I did not know. He took 5 days to tile one shower and talked all about the artform of matching the veigning in the marble tile. The only halfway decent guy I worked with was the framer, even though he wanted to cut corners at literally every opportunity. Now, back to US Acurate Construction. What a complete difference! Fred, as a project manager or general contractor or whatever his title is (Godsend, in my opinion), comes in. Gives you a price, and it's a fair price. He tells you what and how he would do it, and he does it. His guys are on time, fast!!!, and they get the job done. I spent a few days watching over all their work, and in the end, I was like, man, I was all stressing over nothing. I could have just given him the key at the beginning and left them to it. Freds honest and in his line of work, in the bay area where everyone is treated like a number, it's pretty amazing to come across a guy who works hard, works fast, and keeps his word. We needed to rebuild our two car garage in Berkeley. In the process we interviewed 4 contractors to give us bids to complete the job. Needless to say U S Accurate Construction was hands down a winner from the beginning. Our experience with Fred has been impeccable, their bid was not the lowest, but we were so impressed with the company and Fred's professionalism, we never gave it a second thought. We hired US Accurate Construction to remodel my mom's bathroom -- an aging-in-place project that needed a number of changes/installations, including an easily accessible walk-in shower with a bench for my 87-yo mother who can no longer step into a tub, and a floating vanity to bring vanity drawers and doors closer to her reach. A wall needed to be taken down and another built, carpet replaced with tile, recessed shelves installed, shower and sink hardware for arthritic hands, grab bars, etc. My mom is very young at heart, so the idea was to design a bathroom that would make things easier and safer for her, but without it looking like a geriatric bathroom. I interviewed 4 contractors -- all were friendly, all were good, all had similar pricing. But Fred just seemed to be more knowledgeable and more organized than the rest. I was so impressed with the larger rebuild/remodel projects on his website and was a little concerned that a smaller project like a bathroom remodel might be put on the back burner. He assured me it would be complete in 5-6 weeks from the start date. I really could not be happier with the results. And my mom absolutely loves her beautiful new bathroom! Hired this contractor on aug 17, 2020 horrific experience. He definitely took advantage of a women with a toddler who saved her savings for this project. I have paid around 170k some in cash as well for my backyard. He was helpful in the beginning but after problems started happening he was not helpful and put the blame on my family. He installed gas lines that were leaking and he said he's not responsible because homeowner did their own test. The leaking is coming from underneath how is it possible we can touch underneath without digging. He has lied and he has written things in the contract without my knowledge. He told me he lost the contract he never gave me an original. He ruined my fence, my grass, and built retaining walls with poor workmanship. The exterior of what he did from ones eye will show it's beautiful, however the most important is the interior which is done incorrectly and all damaged. He did all the work with no permits knowing my house is on a hill and earthquake fault. I'm currently in the process of getting legal help. I'm working with cslb beware of this contractor. Fine someone else and do everything with permits no matter what! *****update review Fred has directly message me and threatened me. Anyone who is thinking about working with this contractor do not. He lies and continues to harass me. We were not in arbitration that was an option for me or sending to the DA, which I will be doing since I decided on that yesterday. I wish I could give a review for their work; unfortunately, Fred and his team would not grant us the opportunity. I put in a request for a quote for this contractor on Tuesday evening (08/13/2019) for a full re-model of our kitchen and master bathroom. Fred responds and confirms an appointment for Friday evening (08/16/2019). Fred does not show; no call or text to cancel or re-schedule. Instead, I get an email from Fred at 12:09 later that night apologizing for not showing up, and asks if he can re-schedule for Saturday or Sunday. At this point, I should have declined the offer, but I decided to give them another chance, and agreed to a Saturday afternoon (08/17/2019) meet. Please note, we live in Vallejo, and the company is based in Walnut Creek; easily a 20-25 minute commute. I then receive a call from Fred at two o'clock. His words were along the lines of "I didn't realize you live this far. I don't want to take a job where I have to cross a bridge." Are you kidding me? You're based in Walnut Creek, and you can't make the effort for what easily would be a $15k - $20k job? It's all the more upsetting that they had the address earlier that week, and could have easily declined then. Instead, I stay home two days in a row only to be denied before Fred even showed up. I thanked him for wasting my time, and hung up. This is an extremely unprofessional business, and with so many other reputable contractors, I would recommend going with someone who would show you common courtesy and respect. read more

I could go on and on but will try to keep this review brief and to the point. Let me make it clear that I am not a novice remodeler. I have completed an 1880's Victorian re-build (including jacking up the house and adding a garage) and an apartment-to-condominium conversion - both in the toughest city to get permits and to build -- San Francisco. I also own several homes in another city 1500 miles away and have done complete remodels long distance from California. So I have fair general knowledgeable about construction but there are many areas I can only guess at. Fred Seraj conducted a pre-offer inspection on a duplex property in Oakland. I had 2 large projects in mind that required more extensive construction knowledge, more current knowledge of building costs, and I am a complete novice of codes and requirements in Oakland. When Fred arrived on site, I asked for general observations and areas of concern in addition to the projects already identified. Fred's observations included many hidden defects and elements I had not even considered. With each, he displayed knowledge of how to fix and the associated costs. But more than that, and frankly something I look for with anyone who works for me, Fred was constantly thinking forward and not just answering the question of "can this be done?" but also suggesting other solutions with better design/use. And he knew the code requirements and what would be permissible. The prices Fred ball-parked were very helpful in deciding whether to make an offer (decided no). I think the prices were on the high side but I wasn't asking for a quote, just a rough estimate, and frankly I'd rather have a high number as a benchmark. We couldn't be happier with our old home turned new again!! Fred and Shay came over and provided us with an estimate for an addition but we ended having them come back to provide one for a kitchen remodel as well. We figured we could try to kill two birds with one stone. This was our first big job and we were concerned about being without a kitchen for long period of time. They were both very professional and informative and we appreciated their honesty. This is a case requiring more than 5 stars. I replaced 2, 3 way dimmer switches in my kitchen as I had upgraded the LED lights to a higher wattage. When I removed the old switches I found a wiring mess. I assume the prior owner had some electrical work done or did it himself. Wires had been used that were the wrong colors according to electric codes. The common was white instead of black. A green wire was used as a neutral. At that point I got on yelp and sent out a request for help. I got 2 responses within an hour. One company wanted to do a video conference the next day before giving a bid. U S Accurate responded and said they could have someone out the next morning to fix the electrical. They gave me an estimated cost which quite honestly seemed to low. The next day it was Fred from U S Accurate to the rescue. He fixed the wiring and noted that the third wire typically used for a three way switch was never installed. To install it ment I would end up needing sheet rock and painting done which he could do for certainly more money and time OR he could install a 3 way switch with a remote switch and get it done the same day. He didnt carry those in his truck and ended up going to 3 different locations to purchase the needed switches. Within 30 minutes of his return the 2 new dimmers were installed along with their 2 remotes. Hurray for Fred and U S Accurate. He was friendly, explained everything he needed to do, met all commitments and exceeded my expectations. I certainly reccomend U S Accurate and would use them again. read more

I have been experiencing cracks in the ceiling and was very concerned about the structural set up in my attic. Previous owners had removed a few walls in the living and dining area, all without permits. Fred and Shay stopped by to inspect the attic. They said the house is structurally sound based on the type of beams (I forgot the word they used) that's in the attic. They had strong knowledge about weight bearing beams and said I have nothing to worry about. The cracks in the ceiling is just normal movement, nothing major. My family and I really appreciated the work that Fred, Alan and his team put into remodeling our house. We absolutely love the beauty they've added to our home. We have two young kids and had to live in the house during the entire time of the project. He came up with good solutions to limit the dust exposure. We had our kitchen sink and stove up to the very last minute. We always had at least one fully functioning bathroom. He made sure that he and the team cleaned up every single day before they left for the day. We must have had several hundred questions (no exaggeration) from the initial proposal to the final walk through as even a few more afterwards. Fred and Alan were there to answer all of them. Giving us different design and budgeting options and having a recommendation of what they would do if it was their house. Their communication, experience and knowledge was incredibly useful. And both Fred and Alan were here doing the work alongside their crew. I felt like that says a lot about how they operate. Bottom line is that we felt taken care of by people who cared about their craft and thought about the living experience from the homeowners perspective. Budget and schedule were really accurate and they were very fair with change orders since we introduced additional scope during the project like adding skylights and a sun tube. I recently endured a "hell week" where I scheduled six major home improvements from six different contractors (a reroof, a French drain installation, install of 4 large floor to ceiling windows, solar panel and battery install, mold remediation and restoration of drywall, paint, etc). US accurate construction was by far the most impressive contractor I worked with during this project. Fred was highly professional as the project manager and his communication was smooth. The other contractors dropped the ball on several occasions including a plumber who forgot to water test a leak that resulted in US Accurate's drywall repair having to be redone. (I asked the plumber to water test after they were "done" and the water testing caused a leak that ruined the drywall).US Accurate construction was able to work with the plumber to rectify the situation and redo the drywall with extreme precision . The quality of work was impeccable. During a week whether several other contractors produced subpar work, US accurate construction returned my home better than they found it (drywall was done well, paint texturing was amazing, paint matching was indistinguishable from the original paint and my baseboards were replaced despite the fact that my baseboards were not available at hardware stores (so they had to custom cut larger baseboards to match my rare 5.5" baseboards). Overall these guys were a bright spot during an extremely stressful week. read more
