The latest one involving me being interrogated while sitting on the lobby sofa. The woman (I don't know her name, I guess I wasn't worth the time for an introduction) started our meeting by pointing at me and asking "What do you need?", while I was waiting for a banker (right after drilling another waiting customer as to why he was waiting). What followed was a very brief monologue of "Thats our policy and I don't make the policy." I was there to handle an insurance claim for my vehicle, which is financed by Financial One. Apparently they feel entitled to any insurance payout you receive, and don't care to take the time to even evaluate the situation. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CREDIT UNION. They don't care about you, they don't care about your finances, and they will constantly refer to you as a "non-member" if you don't have a full membership with them. I would rate this credit union a 0 star if Yelp allowed it.

As long as my life was sailing along, they were great. However. Recently I had to deal with consolidating accounts, transferring balances, etc., due to a death in the family. Affinity Plus let me down, big-time. I had to make many visits and phone calls and wait months for the funds from and IRA to be distributed to me because 1) they did not require that a beneficiary be named when the account opened and 2) they repeatedly filled out and sent the wrong form to a third party who processes these for them. (In the process I realized that my own IRAs there didn't have a beneficiary, and had to jump through some hoops to make sure one was named. If you have accounts here, make sure you do this.) I paid off my mortgage thru Affinity Plus three months ago, and two weeks later checked with my county to see if the payoff had been registered. It had not, but they said sometimes it takes a month. I checked again two days ago and Affinity Plus still hadn't notified them. So, I made another phone call. Nice guy at Affinity checked into it and called back, apologizing because they just had never done it in the first place. They are always friendly and polite, and seem to want to help, but when the chips are down, these guys just seem to mess up, lose stuff, and not follow through. I will probably keep my checking here, but will look for someplace more reliable for other banking matters.

The wonderful lady inside saw me and motioned me to back up to the window. After I sent my check through the tube, I realized I didn't send my ID. I asked through the speaker if she needed my ID. She said no, I recognize your face. She cashed my check and thanked me for coming. Try getting that kind of service at one of the big banks!
