This review is for the Highland Bank in Minnetonka on Plymouth Road…read more So, let me just start by agreeing with one of the reoccurring points in many of the other reviews for Highland Bank's various locations (and this one too): They're a little behind the times. From a technology standpoint and as a consequence, from a banking standpoint in general. But in reality, this bank's product offering isn't much different than any other bank. There's free checking (with a minimum balance, direct deposit, or whatever), they have online banking, they have an app. I'm fairly certain that all of their online offerings are understandably 3rd-party systems that they likely just lease. But it's all there and it all works reasonably well. ATM access is comparable to most credit unions (though, they're not a credit union) as they use the same type of network that most of the smaller CUs use. They have very traditional operating hours. (the lobby is closed by 5:00 PM weekdays and not open on weekends) But the drive-up is open for a few hours on Saturday. But guess what? It's all part of what makes this a charming bank. Why does that matter? To some people, it probably doesn't. Some people may not want to step foot in a bank. Some people want to do everything on an app. I'm not one of those people. When I walk into this location to make a deposit to one of my accounts, I'm always greeted warmly and by name, and am thanked when I leave. It's something you may not appreciate when you're a busy 20-something. It never really mattered much to me until recently. Maybe receiving good customer service is an acquired taste -- I'm not sure. But the folks at his location are absolutely top-notch and as long as they're there to provide the excellent service I've received, I'm not going anywhere else. I've not used the lending side of Highland Bank yet, but fully expect the service to be just as professional and friendly as the teller side. If you're not being treated very well at your current bank, please visit the Highland Bank location in Minnetonka and speak to Laura or Debbie about opening an account.

Small town banks will always be more "personable" than big city banks because there's less people to remember and many of the same people have been going to that one and only location their entire life. With that being said I think the SLP bank is great. The people here are friendly. I don't need my banker to be my friend because I don't go to the bank to make small talk. My first account was in Willmar where I grew up and for the past 17 years in the Metro area. Every branch I have gone to has had a staff of people that have exhibited tremendous customer service. There are at least a couple of tellers I would call friends over the years. I own three businesses and do all my banking through Bremer for that reason. I must say, however, the service at the Bremer in St.Louis Park is beyond dreadful. The tellers are NEVER friendly, in fact every time I come in or go through the drive-thru it's as if I have ruined their day by asking them to do something as simple as a deposit. I'm guessing it all comes down to the management, as they do the hiring. Here's an idea, maybe stop recruiting your employees from the DMV. Actually, to be honest, I've probably had better service at the government center.

Although the SSN was unlocked, could not get the account opened. Teller tried to send me a link, but it never came to my email. I had a safe deposit box there that multiple years they did not bill me. I had to remind them to bill me so that I would not lose what was in my box & they would assure me that this would not happen the following year, but it always did. I closed the safe deposit box. Had a CD come due & was told I could not cash it in on the day that it came due. CDs could only be cashed in after that day. Spoke with someone else at the bank and indeed I was able to cash. Often there's been simple deposits that for some reason there's an issue. These are some of the friendliest people in banking, but they appear to lack expertise. therefore, I have business with them. Once again, however, I will emphasize that they are very eager to serve customers and are always friendly.
