I had a terrible experience where I was scammed with counterfeit money orders. The teller there…read moresaid to me, "well, they look real, and if they go through well then hey I guess they work." At this point I don't know why she did not go get a manager to talk to me about waiting because I could be scammed. Heres the online source that scammed me: emails from an alleged "janet patrick" from foreshores oil company that said she needed to sublet my place. The rent checks (money orders) would be sent to me, and I would deposit them, keeping the rent and forwarding the rest of the money to this address: (her alleged travel agent: mary pinette 803 sterling place brooklyn new york 11216 usa.... So Harris found me liable for the two thousand $2000 dollars that I was now missing from my account. They had Ken Nibble from the fraud department harassing me through several phone calls and had me set up payments for a little over a hundred a month until I paid it off. I could not afford any extra payments in my life and got sent to collections. Ken Nibble was such an asshole, and I was traumatized dealing with him. Not only that but Barons Creditors and Midland Credit Management were bullying me and calling me irresponsible for not paying up according to the date they had to be "audited". I had to work two to three jobs while a full time student from 2007 until now just to afford everything. I was on the phone with Experian, Equifax, and Transunion for hours. I had to send an 18 page fax to these three to clear my name. I took a copy of this to Harris bank (now that the 2 grand was paid) and told them to take me off their 7 year black list that I was wrongfully placed on. The 7 year list is what bankers do to keep you from opening accounts ANYWHERE ELSE for 7 YEARS!! Once I took all these steps, I was finally settled credit wise and financial wise. I submitted a police report with the west dundee police which did close to nothing for me. Plus the FBI doesnt care because it's under 5 thousand dollars and they dont have the resources to help a person out such as myself. Harris bank, well I don't think I could ever step foot inside one of their branches ever again. I was pushed around for years and none of them even cared, nor did they seem competent to even know what to say to me when I asked how I could possibly be the one to be held accountable for this event.

My husband and I went in together at this location and sat with Melanie. We went in together but…read moreeach had our own business to inquire and take care of. We sat there for a bit and Melanie took down our information and said each of these situations had to go to a different department and she'll get back to us as soon as it's complete. It's been over a week and we have not heard anything so I called back. When I called back, I got the manager Maria and she said she will look into it because she doesn't know what's going on. She calls me back the next day and said it's our fault because we did not answer our phones and there was no voicemail for her to leave one. We also found out that Melanie did absolutely nothing when it came to our requests. I kept asking the manager Maria for the bankers name that assisted us so that we could submit a complaint and she refused to give me the bankers name. She said it's not within her policy to share that name, which is ridiculous because I can pick a business card with her name on it so I don't know how that's policy on not being able to share that name. I asked for her regionals name or market manager's name so I could make a complaint and she said that that's not within her policy to share that either. I had to leave in the middle of work to go into another location, share my story AGAIN and get the assistance that I needed. That manager was very helpful and gave me all the information I needed. That's how I knew the banker's name was Melanie. There was also no record of that banker, pulling either of my or my husband's information up, no record of her taking any action per our request, or giving either one of us a call. The manager Maria could have just apologized because people make mistakes, but she did not. She put it on us that we did not answer a phone call from her banker. And when I go to a different location, they tell me that the banker did not do anything. She not make a call or have any history of doing anything. The manager Maria lied to cover the banker's mistake and refused to give a name for a complaint. Maria did not apologize and was constantly telling me that I'm not working with her when we clearly did not receive any calls. I offered to even present both my husband's and my call history with zero incoming calls from an unknown number to prove that the banker was lying, but Maria dismissed that and pressed on that it was our fault for not answering the phone. From reading the other reviews, it looks like this location just provides terrible customer service especially the banker Melanie. It seems like Melanie must have learned it from the manager Maria for she behaved the same if not worse. At least Melanie only provided incorrect information, while the manager generated multiple lies to cover multiple mistakes. Which I confirmed through another Branch Manager.

I was a customer of Larkin Bank back in the 80's. They were eventually bought by Chase which is…read morewhere we still bank. Our family (parents, children, etc) has used Chase ever since Chase came to Elgin. I have both my personal and business accounts at Chase as does the rest of my family. Over the years Chase has become less and less responsive. During Covid, I applied for PPP thru Chase and received nothing. We're a a small company with 3 employees. I'm sure all of their major corporate customers we taken care of to the tune of millions, probably billions. We also had business with TBK. They contacted us to see if we needed help. They were able to get us a small PPP loan without any issues. Last year I had a business check stolen out of the mail and washed. They change the amount to $4500 and the name to some rando in Missouri. Deposited it via phone thru their bank. ABSOLUTELY ALL OF THE SECURITY info was wiped, no watermark, no foil seal, nothing. I paid for checks with the full security features. Chase paid it, no problem. My 8 yo granddaughter saw the difference between that check and the others when she looked online. Who or what checks when it arrives at Chase. Stevie Wonder could have seen the issues. Regretfully, my accountant only reconciles quarterly so we missed the 60 day window to get reimbursed. The check was not much better than notebook paper and some type, but they paid it. Presently, I've been a POA and sines on my moms bank accounts. She passed away last month. I went to Chase, met with the Branch Manager, let he know if the passing. She was able to consolidate her accounts and move what money she had to checking. I explained I had bills to pay such as cremation, nursing home care, Drs bills, utilities on her home, etc. I left the bank, went home and write out bills. About 7-10 days later I start getting letters from Chase that the account was frozen because one of the signers had passed. ALL of the checks for her bills were returned unpaid. Rather embarrassing to have the check for the funeral home returned. They knew I was going to pay bills, however, no warning that the account would be frozen. On the positive note, the ATM access is great. I've learned to use the security features via the web. I now have any deposit or withdrawal of more than $1 set for review by me. otherwise not much else. We carry a decent balance in our business and personal checking accounts. The interest is .01%. and now they charge $25 for our personal account because we don't have more that 100k in investments or savings. Not sure how banks work but I assume they loan out our deposits? At the current 6-7% they charge for loans they can make 6000 off of a 100k deposit. In exchange they don't charge $25 for my checking account? Very generous on their part. I guess it's time to find a local bank that supports the local businesses and people. Good bye Chase
