I recently made an appointment with this dermatology office. I am a new patient of the office, so I did not have a preference for a particular provider, but requested a female provider. I was told that the next available appointment with a female provider would be in 12 months, so I made an appointment with a male provider (Nishan Thapa, NP-C) instead. I made the appointment a week prior. The office called, texted, and emailed me every single day asking me to confirm the appointment. Although this was a lot of contacts, it did not bother me too much, and I can understand that they want to avoid no-shows or late cancelations. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment time, which was plenty of time to give them my ID and insurance info and fill out the new patient paperwork. I was called in just a few minutes after my scheduled appointment time. The appointment itself ran smoothly. In the room were 2 medical assistants (both female) and Nishan Thapa, NP-C, the provider. They all made me feel comfortable and answered all of my questions, and gave me professional recommendations. I really felt that Nishan was extremely thorough, literally combing through my hair to look at every square inch of my scalp. He measured any moles he found and had the medical assistants take note of them and take pictures to monitor any changes. I ended up needing a biopsy of one, and Nishan calmly told me the procedure and made me feel comfortable the whole time. All in all, the appointment plus the biopsy took maybe 30 minutes, tops. They were all very thorough and professional. I will definitely be back for my next check-up! read more

Their service is ok enough, but the charge for me to simply have a 5 minute appointment to get a prescription renewal was $462. $462!!! For a prescription RENEWAL, that's it, which is complete robbery. read more

I sought treatment from this establishment for a wart issue. I visited the office weekly for freeze treatments, but these were ineffective until I consulted a different dermatologist who employed a different technique, ultimately resolving the problem. However, the office repeatedly attempted to maximize its revenue by billing my insurance company. Whenever they failed to obtain the desired amount, they sent me a bill. The most concerning aspect was that they sent me to collections without any prior notice. Fortunately, I was able to resolve the matter, but I strongly advise against visiting this establishment. read more

I've been going to Four Points Dermatology for years now and have been on spironolactone for just about as long. Due to a change in my work schedule I was unable to make a 6-month follow up appointment in December and hadn't had time to reschedule. In the meantime, I ran out of my dose of spironolactone. I called and was not able to book, due to my work schedule, for three weeks out, leaving me at a deficit of five weeks without spironolactone, as I've not had it now for two. I called and asked if they could refill it. They said no, I needed to make an appointment. So I booked an appointment and asked if I could get a partial refill in the meantime, as it's quite dangerous to go cold turkey on this medication, especially as long as I've been on it. Christina called me about five times saying I needed to reschedule and that they had plenty of availability, even after I had already rescheduled, and after I had left several urgent notes in their system with other people over the phone. All notes seemingly ignored, no attention to the fact that I'd already booked. When I finally got ahold of her, PA Nishan Thapa refused to refill without a thought. I had missed my December appointment, they said. I asked if an exception could be made because it was life threatening to go without it like that. Thapa said no, again. I asked if it was a controlled substance. Christina said no. So why couldn't they refill it, I asked? Well you said it, yourself, it's clearly a dangerous substance, Christina sneered over the phone like she was enjoying it. Would they be doing bloodwork, I asked? She couldn't answer the question. Never have I done bloodwork with them, and besides the point, it had been less than seven months since my last appointment and I'd had bloodwork done elsewhere since then several times. I couldn't believe the way she was treating me. I told her if I couldn't get the medication, I wanted to cancel my appointment and be removed from their lists. Okay, she agreed happily, as if the fact that this medication that was so dangerous to be off of didn't matter if I wasn't a patient of theirs. Absolutely appalled by the treatment I received, I canceled everything and will be finding help elsewhere. If you want to be treated like a human, stay away from this place and definitely away from Thapa and Christina. read more

Like the other negative reviews here, I had a fine experience with the doctors I saw but my experience with the front desk has led me to find another dermatologist. I've been with them for regular visits for a few years and made an appointment recently for a rash on my face. The day of the appointment, the front desk called to ask if I could come in right then (30 min early), which I did, I then proceeded to wait in the room for 30 minutes until my actual appointment time. Why did I come in early?? Apparently they made me a follow up appointment after that first visit, but no one told me and I did not ask for one. I never got any reminders or confirmations until the front desk called to ask if I could reschedule. When I asked what the appointment was for and discovered it was a follow up I didn't request, I asked to cancel. They said because the appointment was less than 72 hours away I had to pay a $25 fee. I've literally never seen a cancellation policy further out than 24 hours! I told her that didn't make any sense since I never requested that appointment in the first place and she said, I'll give them that feedback, you'll get a charge to the card on file. I had an appointment for this morning, Sept. 5, at 10:50am (Mueller office, Austin). The front desk called me at 10am to inform me I was expected 15 minutes early, although I had already completed all the online forms (they had more). This would have been a rude call even from a friend, but I duly arrived 15 minutes early -- for 2 minutes worth of forms, but was told "It was so my appointment could start on time." I then waited 40 minutes after the appointed time -- naked in an exam room, when I decided I'd had enough, dressed and left. It was not only unprofessional and incompetent, but insulting. This was after my original August appointment with Dr. Bhatt was canceled because, I was told, of the scheduler's mistake -- but that I could see her NEXT AUGUST for my annual skin cancer check. Seemed quite pointless, so I made an alternative appointment with PA-C Nishan Thapa. He never arrived at the exam room, so I don't even know what he looks like. I've had a lifetime of overbooked doctors presuming their time is more precious than mine, and enough is enough. I won't return to Four Points Dermatology, which in past years had provided good service. read more

My doctor referred me here and I guess the office got my contact info from that. They have texted and called me nearly every day for a month even though I've answered 3 different calls to speak to the associate and say I'm not interested (each time they said "we'll take you off our list"). I cannot manage to get off their list. I finally had to report their number as a spam, and block them on my phone. Careful, if they get your contact info they will drown you in messages and don't give you any way to opt out. read more

I want to preface this by saying that this review is absolutely not in reference to provider Jill Hude. If you find yourself in her care you will be in great hands. However, the front office and the parent company of this practice (U.S. Dermatology Partners) operate a shady business. I've been a patient at this practice for 6 years and have racked up probably 15 or so visits. I made an appointment recently, showed up, got checked in, and brought back to the room only to then find out they were no longer in network with my insurance company. My insurance plan had not changed since my last visit, my insurance was still on file with the office, AND I handed my insurance card to the front desk THAT DAY when I checked in. Still, they couldn't give me the courtesy of letting me know they no longer accept my insurance. I asked to leave once I found this out and the front office refused to let me go without charging me for an out-of-network office visit. I saw the provider for maybe 2 minutes and no medical service was provided. I asked to leave as soon as I learned they were no longer in network. The lady at check-out blamed the front desk worker for being new and said she should have informed me they were out of network. So even after admitting their fault they still wanted to charge me. I was then told the real reason I wasn't told was because their parent company tells them not to let patients know until they're already checked in. So, if you're in network -- this place may be great for you! But just know your loyalty means nothing to them. If things change over time they won't hesitate to screw you over for a quick buck. For the record, I did eventually leave without being charged but only after some very persistent advocating for myself. read more

This place is an scam. I'm not convinced it's not insurance fraud the things they are doing with their billing practices. Like other reviews have mentioned, they charge you up front a huge amount and tell you once the insurance gets billed it will either be refunded or you will owe more depending on what insurance determined. Then they code the service as something that didn't happen (I got charged for "cosmetic surgery"???) so you and your insurance both end up paying many times more than expected. I promise you will have a bad billing experience if you go to this place. If you value your money at all, avoid US Derm Partners Mueller (Four Points Dermatology) at all costs. read more

After moving to this side of town I needed to find a dermatologist for my annual skin cancer screening. I am all about preventative care even before I became a nurse. This was super easy to schedule my appointment as they started to offer in-person visits again. When I showed up the day of my appointment I had to call inside to let them know I was there. I was able to wait outside and look at the empty waiting room that was full of cold A/C on a hot day until they were ready for me. Thanks 'Rona. I was called back to let me know I can proceed inside. Once inside I had my temperature taken and proceeded to the small room. The PA saw me shortly after that and checked my body. The visit went okay with minimal questions being asked. I am not sure if minimal talking was due to 'Rona or her overall style. This place didn't give me the warm and fuzzies. I also asked for a receipt for my FSA card and was told I needed to wait until she put in her codes and would get one later that day. That is cool. However, I still haven't got one even after emailing them a request for one. I guess I will have to call on Monday. Ugh read more

Reducing to 1 star...less than an hour after posting the review, the office called to scare me that it might be cancer...after telling me know to worry at all last week because the pathology wasn't any concern... Original posting below Very disappointing. Dr Julian removed a suspected lipoma from my right side a few weeks ago. He refused to schedule my 2nd lipoma removal because he was so concerned with the unusual nature of the first removal --- however, his office staff refused to even check on the pathology status & I STILL have NOT received any pathology results. Office staff was unconcerned & condescending when I called AFTER the date the the dr said to expect results. Follow-up not scheduled until AFTER the stithes were healing over (I went to another Dr to have them removed). Worse yet - they told me they were out of my insurance network (my insurance company said they are in network). They charged me well OVER the negotiated rate for in network & then filed amounts even HIGHER with my insurance company (Aetna) who will also get a copy of this review. I would not recommend going to this office. One good item, the other Dr who removed the stitches said that it appeared Dr Julian had done a good job of the wound closure. read more

The front office is a showcase in incompetence. They called me SIX times to remind me about my appointment. SIX. I answered each time and said.. YES, I'm coming. ... but, for some reason they felt the need to call me a few hours later, and then again the next day and so on... six times. Also sent three texts. Also brow beat me into doing pre-office paperwork online only to ask me to fill out the exact same paperwork in person once there. They even asked for my DL and Insurance card, even though I uploaded pics of each online. I reminded them that I had uploaded all of that online, and they said, "oh well, it's a different system" Infuriating. Also, they signed me up for "auto pay" without my consent. Absolutely not cool. Oh, and sent me four emails to confirm that they had enrolled me in auto-pay. I will never return to this dumpster fire of a business. read more

Revising this to one star. Called office last week to talk to office manager about all of these issues (below); she said she would call me back before EOB. It's been 8 days and I haven't heard anything via phone, voice mail, email or text. I just called back and the receptionist was curt, rude, and actually laughed at me for wanting to close the loop on this with the office manager. Absolutely no excuse for this poor level of customer service. I don't yell. I don't harass. I don't insult. The least I should be able to expect is the same basic civility. I cannot imagine dealing with the front desk staff in the middle of a medical emergency, such as skin cancer. The lack of humanity is disturbing. Original review from over a week ago: Dr. Bhatt apologized for my experience today profusely, and assured me that the next time I came in I would have a better experience. I look forward to updating this review to a four or five star review after that time. I think reviews should be about education and improvement, not punishment. And I really want to have a conversation with the office manager at some point to discuss necessary improvements and a partial refund for my experience today. I was not in the state of mind for that chat today, nor did I have the time as I was running very late for my commitments. For context: I had the same dermatologist and surgeon in Chicago for two decades. Never one complaint from me. Not one issue. Sent him upwards of two dozen clients, all who loved him. I am not inclined to make this transaction or experience difficult and I did not/ do not have aggressive or unreasonable expectations. To start, after my consultation several weeks ago and ahead of my actual procedure today, I received nearly 40 unique points of communication from FourPoints: email, text, phone, voicemail. At one point, Dr. Bhatt had a cancellation and her admin staff left me five voice mails in a seven minute window- I left a client meeting to listen as I thought the barrage of voice mails were due to an emergency. The next day I called to ask them to stop harassing me this way and to take steps to fix the glitch in common sense and communication. They didn't. It continued. After my appointment today I realized there are bigger quality issues. I waited more than an hour and a half for my appointment to start. I didn't know the doctor was running late until I asked, and even then I was not given a solution by the receptionist. Then I learned we couldn't even do the full procedure because they did not have the proper materials required....which no one noticed until an hour after we should have started. It was incredibly stressful, as we had a previous consultation in which I outlined how pain management was crucial for me. Because everything was so rushed, I also had to interact with Dr. Bhatt about my previous doctor's notes and correct where the injections should go into my face based on my rudimentary knowledge and memory of previous experiences. If anyone out there has PTSD or anxiety you know that this kind of interaction totally erodes trust in the medical authority and creates a major strain on your nervous system. The front desk staff did not offer me a partial or full discount, which is remarkable to me given the extreme nature of the missteps. I had to cancel/ move two business appointments and did not get the full treatment I had scheduled. Then, after I left the appointment, I was bombarded yet again with emails and texts about an upcoming appointment...that I never made. In August. At 7:30 AM. So, something is obviously very off with the functional mechanics of their business operations, appointment reminder systems, and the soft skills of the front desk staff. What's more: the front desk staff were overtly RUDE with me. I've been in inner city ER's with more customer service and basic humanity among the staff. Patients waiting hours for appointments- cancelling work meetings and rearranging the logistics of their day- and I could hear them, the whole time, laughing and singing loudly and speaking ill of patients for all to hear. It's really unprofessional and unacceptable. I don't know if I've ever had such a disappointing experience with a business. read more

Probably not best to sign up for a dermatologist that has same day appointments, that should tell you plenty. The doctor I saw immediately wanted to do an expensive biopsy immediately and had no clue what was causing some redness in my face. I was originally told the cost would be $40 based on my insurance to come in and got another bill for an extra $110, so $150 down the train to see a pushy doctor that wanted to upsell me like a used car salesman. Suggested I could have Lupus even though I exhibit no symptoms outside of face redness. My advice is to take your time and find a derm else where if you can wait. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I initially went in because I was having strange mouth sores and body rashes(I had found an article saying these things could happen after having covid). Im obviously not a doctor but dr Julian didn't even let me finish before cutting me off saying it's just cold sores. I also had these sores on my fingers which is very common and called covid fingers. Fast forward I am now covered in a horrible rash after getting the sores all over the inside of my mouth again .... Dr Julian walks in the room and glances over at me and says "it's hives it can have no cause" then I mention the mouth sores and he says it's unrelated and it's nothing. I had to ask for a steroid shot. He then prescribed me an anti itch medication which I later google and find out it's A SEDATIVE. I'm lucky I didn't pass out at work. NEXT- I call the next day begging for oral steroids and cream because I am now completely covered head to toe. The nurse said she would ask him and get back to me. This is Friday at 10am so I call again at 3 and no one picks up so I leave a message... then I call at 4 and they have switched the phone to say closed(close at 430) so I am now stuck suffering all weekend long. This doctor not only barely looks at you, doesn't examine the problem at all, and treats it incorrectly. read more

The office staff almost ruined any positive experience I had with the medical team. I had the most terrible customer service experience with the billing staff at the front desk. The lady was extremely rude, aggressive and demeaning. She got really upset when I tried to gather more information about a bill in question from a previous visit. I mentioned that my health insurance should have covered it since I had met the deductible at the time of the last visit. Her answer was that it was not her problem but a problem between me and my insurance. Then I asked why I was not informed that I should pay for the appointment when I was there at that time. She replied that she was not there that day so she could not answer and it was actually my fault. In her own words "It is actually your fault". Her rudeness kept going and going for every single question that I asked about the bill. The doctor was great but the office staff was awful. If I could give them no stars I would. I had noticed that my chest had either a strange rash or maybe some adult acne happening on it and after it didn't go away with over the counter options, I decided to head to the dermatologist. I saw the PA who thought it might be a form of adult acne and gave me a prescription for steroidal cream to try and use. After two weeks, the spots were still on my chest. Next she suggested I do a biopsy and said the pathologist was sure it wasn't acne but that didn't cross anything off of the list fully. I was a bit annoyed to have two scars on my body and still no answer to what the problem was but I figured it was worth it in the end if my chest ever returned to normal. Then I went back on steroids and still no results. Finally, she suggested that I go on Accutane to see if we could stop it. I didn't want to go on Accutane because of the side effects. She said she didn't know what she could do for me if I wasn't willing to try different meds. So I decided to see someone for a second opinion. In less than 15 minutes at the new derm, I was diagnosed with pityrosporum folliculitis, a condition treatable with over the counter Nizoral. After two weeks, ta-da! No spots on my chest. I know medicine isn't an exact science and that it takes time to get things right but I felt pressured to go on Accutane and that wasn't a pleasant feeling. To their credit, I will say they worked with my insurance company to help me pay for the steroid creams and were always friendly. read more

I would like to start by saying I am not a person to leave reviews. But my experience was so terrible I felt I should share so before someone decides to go here they were aware. To start, I chose to go to this office since it was close to my home (after a recent move) and it had decent reviews. 1) I waited ~1hr *every time* I went (~5-6 times) after my scheduled appointment time 2) Last time I went I asked the doctor (DR. JULIAN) to check out a bump I had on my back that's been there for a few years. He said he wasn't concerned but we could remove and send to the lab to be sure. I *specifically* asked him "if it's going to be expensive I would prefer to leave it". His response "Oh no no no...the way I'm going to code it it won't be." I trusted him and allowed him to proceed. Later I get a bill for ~$300. I called Four Points to explain the situation, their billing department and the front desk basically said "too bad" you need to pay. 3) During at least three of the appointments I overheard the front desk receptionists talking badly about patients and sharing stories about patients that were seen in the proceeding days. 4) Finally, Dr. Julian said I would hear back about the results from the biopsy on my back...it's been 3 months and I still have not hear anything. In sum, I highly recommend to NOT go to Four Points. Overall terrible customer service and experience. read more

I didn't see these reviews before I scheduled my appt and I'm kind of glad I didn't because it might have deterred me, but I had a great experience! Very quick check in, everyone was so pleasant and nice. The receptionist, the nurses, even the checkout guy was just genuinely nice. And I've been to plenty of doctors offices that rub me the wrong way. Dr. Julian was kind, informative, and quick but didn't rush. I have had my bouts with acne and hyperpigmentation for years and he gave me all the answers I needed. Very glad to have found my new derm since moving to Austin! read more

I recently called to book an appointment for a procedure and asked the staff on the phone if they could check my insurance to see if the procedure was covered. The staff member transferred me to their insurance specialist who told me "Yes we can submit the insurance claim for you but your insurance can deny it for any reason. You just never know and it's totally up to them." I asked the gentleman again if there was any way he could call my insurance company, and/or if I could give him my policy info so he could check, and he proceeded to give me the same line as he gave me before, that he can submit a claim but it could get denied. Lol. So I asked a third time and he finally gave me the answer I needed. It wasn't necessarily the answer I wanted, but at least he finally understood the question I was asking. His answer was a flat no, that he is unable to check for coverage on specific medical codes. I guess I'm a little bewildered at how people are expected to make responsible medical decisions when providers are not able to give good information on insurance coverage. I asked my husband, who is an optometrist, if this answer would have been acceptable at his office, and he said absolutely not, and they always check coverage for patients or potential patients. Not sure what the deal is with this office. Maybe it's a training issue? This office is in such a convenient location and I was planning on booking an appointment but this particular staff member doesn't seem to understand what he could do to help get patients into the door! read more

Not a good experience. The doctor was insensitive. I went in for a procedure and don't feel like I was presented with all the best options initially. After going to a follow up appt (that I paid a $120 for the doctor to come in a talk to me for a total of 5 min) the doctor tells me we can do a different procedure to correct the first one for double the cost. Just not the kind of empathy or care I was expecting from a doctors office at all. I left feeling not taken care of and honestly ripped off. read more

It was my first time at this office, and I will not be returning. I waited almost 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment, saw the dermatologist for 2 minutes about some skin tags I wanted removed, and then it took them over 10 minutes to tell me the cost. After giving me the cost, I asked if it was for removal of only one and the employee didn't know so had to go back and ask. The waiting room is uncomfortably hot, and I just didn't get the customer service I expected. There are definitely better places to go to. read more

Zero stars I booked a mole removal for my spouse weeks in advance, rescheduling once to ensure that the exam and the removal procedure would be done during the same visit. They treated my wife like a number instead of a person (horrid bedside manner, trying to rush, etc.). She could overhear the staff through the door speaking poorly of her and decided not to proceed any further due to this lack of professionalism and decency. She paid for the exam and went on her way. Today was the first time in my life I've heard my wife utter "I'll never go back there again." I'd suggest you learn from our mistake if you're looking for a solid dermatologist in the Austin area. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. This doctors office is much more concerned with their cosmetic patients that they bank off of- not the patients that have any actual medical diagnosis. I've seen Jill Hude three times for regular and routine blood work for my biologic medication that is prescribed for my skin disease. She spends literally under a minute flat talking to me about my disease, then breaks into a monologue about the cosmetic specials they have that month. Until now, I couldn't complain since I was in and out quickly and they filled the medical prescription I asked for. HOWEVER I called recently to have my medical diagnosis and treatment sent to a different type of doctor for other medical work. Jill Hude refused to come to the phone and I constantly had to play phone tag with her incompetent assistant. This went on for 3 days. At the end of it all she refused deeming herself "uncomfortable" which makes absolutely no sense since I am asking for my own medical diagnosis. I then asked for my medical records to be sent over and they again refused. I LITERALLY THINK SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS TREATING ME FOR. I ended up having to show up at the office on Saturday and argue with the front desk lady FOR MY OWN MEDICAL RECORDS. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. AVOID IF YOU NEED AN ACTUAL DOCTOR. read more

Dr. Bhatt and two of her people came in, she looked at my scalp for literally 20 seconds, and said, "you probably have lichenplanipalarus. It is an untreatable condition that causes hair loss. You can manage it with steroids and steroid shots." I had never heard of this condition, but she wrote the name on a little post-it (!) and gave me some steroid cream and antibiotic cream. I told the doctor that my insurance sucks and my copayment is astronomical and asked if we could deal over the phone from now on. She said sure. Three weeks later, and I have finished my steroid and antibiotic treatment. My symptoms come back. I call Dr. Bhatt several times, but am never allowed to talk with her. Just her PA, who has to relay my question to Dr. Bhatt, call me back, get another question, relay it to Dr. Bhatt, call me back...you get the picture. Anyway, I was never allowed to talk with Dr. Bhatt as promised, but they told me to come back in for a "re-evaluation." For another 70 bucks. They wanted me to come in so they can give me steroid shots. So I'm feeling a little uncomfortable with Dr. Bhatt. Something is off here. I feel like she never really has listened to me. Have I mentioned for the last three months that my head hurts and itches to high hell and my hair is falling out? So I go get a second opinion. My new dermatologist spends almost TWO HOURS with me that first visit and does a biopsy straight away. She lets me pay with cash and gives me an office discount because of what I tell her about my crap insurance. The verdict when the biopsy comes back? I HAVE RINGWORM! Totally treatable ringworm. You know what the worst thing is to put on ringworm? STEROIDS. So new dermatologist puts me on oral fungal medication that I have to take for EIGHT WEEKS because the steroids that Dr. Bhatt gave me messed up my head so badly. Through medication reorder, possible bad side effects, followup, and also treatment for bad dandruff brought on by the steroids/ringworm, this new dermatologist calls me HERSELF every single time. Not quite sure how they ve gotten 4.5 stars. Make no mistake about it, this practice is all about the $$. Dr.Bhatt inejcted kenalog into a scar i had and i asked her if i could have the remainder of the kenalog in the syringe. I could have injected the scar myself... Too busy to go in every few weeks. Despite saying yes, she threw away the half full syringe in front of my eyes and had her staff give me a bottle i hadnt asked for... Then charged me for the shot as well as a bottle of kenalog!! I dont like waste. I had simply wanted the rest of the medicine i was being billed for anyway. Physician practices are busy and reimbursements have gone down. I get it. But this is simply bad behavior and greed. Btw that simple steroid injxn that took no exam and not more then a minute was billed at $200! Absurd? You bet ya!! read more
