I am really surprised by so many negative comments. I've been coming here since 2019 and not once a year but for months to try different treatments for acne. The staff has always been nothing but welcoming, friendly and warm. Even during today's visit, I was greeted as soon as I walked in, the check in process took just a few minutes and I was seen by the doctors a few minutes later. I was seen by Dr Song Jin Kim and I think her resident. They both were very attentive and listened to my concerns and provided the initial solution to try. Before Dr Kim, I was going to another doctor in this practice and only have positive things to say. I hope negative reviews will not discourage you from selecting this place. read more

Dermatology Partners will still not provide a listing of insurance submissions (Medicare) and payments, yet they send vague statements of basically "pay us this amount" that reflect only services and no insurance payments. I will be submitting the practice to CMS for investigation. read more

Appointment was for 10am. I arrived at 9:55. They left me sitting in a cold room wearing nothing but a paper gown for over 40 minutes before I finally walked out. Meanwhile, I'm staring at a sign lecturing patients about financial penalties for missing our appointments. #Irony #DoubleStandards Also worth noting: four reminder texts and a phone call at 7:34PM on a Saturday making absolutely sure I wouldn't dare be late. I have visited at least 2 locations over quite a few years and always rated very favorably. This last visit was a disaster and a disappointment and I would suggest their practices are reviewed for patients. Do not meet with anyone not a Doctor as unlike other practices a PA apparent has little authority. I have 1 visit a year where my blood tests are reviewed and after a quick examination prescriptions are issued. Appointments are made a year ahead I generally send ahead my blood work and I did this time calling twice to ensure they had received tests . Twice this was confirmed. It was 3 months ago and so have been accepted before with that timeframe. While on travel in Europe I received a text my Doctor would be unavailable and I should call to make another appointment. No attempt to provide another Doctor. On my return I was given an appointment with a PA and assuming as with Inova, Va Orthotics and many other practices the PA had the ability to perform similar functions. I came on time and waited 40 minutes before I asked why the delay and told I was the next patient. No attempt by the front desk to keep me informed or by staff. After taking inside where I explained to the script my visit and need, I waited another 15 minutes before the PA showed up. By now I had missed another appointment. I explained why I was there and of course they could not find my test. I of course had brought another copy just for this purpose. I requested written prescriptions as costs are different and I planned to take one each to 2 pharmacies. I was told to wait while the PA called a Doctor for permission. A first for me. After another 12 minute wait the prescriptions. The next day I requested as I always do a copy of my report which either was sent by e mail or via website. I was told I had to drive in to get my copy. Another waste of my time. Again unusual that this appointment was unlike any others . When scheduling next year I made sure it was with a Doctor. I took my mom (89 years old ) to visit Dr Chandela at this office. She was supposed to remove the skin keratitis for my mom. First of all she seemed to be in hurry. Talking and working fast to leave the patient room quick. She was supposed to remove the skin keratitis for my mom and I was there to translate to her . She worked so fast without giving me a minute to translate and without knowledge of patient of what she was doing. She injected the lidocaine very quick without any local numbness . My mom started shouting and crying (89y) she continued on her work and even didn't apologize. My mom had many injections before which didn't cause her pain. She obviously gave her a physical trauma and abused her just to quickly finish her job and go to next patient. read more

I waited in the lobby for 25 minutes beyond my appointment time. 30 minutes beyond my arrival time. After asking to be seen, I was moved into a room where I waited another 10 minutes to be seen. The appointment itself was fine... conducted a body scan very quickly. I guess that's OK The building and office suite is not very nice. Not the end of the world, but worth mentioning. read more

Dr. Shabazz is my new favorite dermatologist. She is a fast talker, but I think that is only because you can tell she enjoys what she does. She tends to give you a lot of information and while all of it is beneficial, it can be overwhelming. To compensate for this, she has an assistant who is taking notes while she talks therefore you can ask your questions and still have a written transcript afterwards. Honestly, I appreciate that. It makes the experience less stressful even though I initially wasn't accustomed to having another person in the room during my QT with my doctor. I also value that she is willing to fight with my insurance company on my behalf. Yeah, CIGNA take that! read more

Because the two moles are so close I did not realise what he was working on till I got home. I am amazed that he missed the one so obvious that needed to be removed. I came here for a check up and really liked the Doctor and assistant. However, my experience with the reception has nothing but poor. I won't be coming back. They are rude, short and unhelpful. You would think they would be nicer in person but they are exactly as they are on the phone. If you want all around care/customer service, this is not the place. read more

The worst experience ever! They were referred to us by our pediatrician for our 2 year old son. We were seen by Dr. Anjali Chandela. Oh man! The worst doctor I've seen in my life! She was so overwhelmed and just stammering one thing over and over again. Showed her my son's disfigured nails which I explained over the phone when making an appointment, his pediatrician said it could be fungal nails. Dr. Chandela said we don't really treat kids here, I've never seen this kind of condition so take him to children's hospital DC. I was like what the hell! Couldn't they have told me this before taking my $35 co pay and making me wait with 2 toddlers for 45+ mins! And on top of that she was repeatedly stammering one thing. So jittery as if on drugs. Couldn't make eye contact when I was looking at her asking questions about what are next steps, can you do tests, what do you suggest this is. Her response was awkward answers to take him to DC. Then I asked him my older son whom I didn't bring with me jabbed himself by accident with a pencil on his face months ago. It's left a mark and can anything be done? Should I bring him here? She said since you're going to dc, you can take him there too! To get a better opinion. I was speechless. I just shook my head, cursed myself for taking day off from work for nothing and just left. I will NEVER see any doctor at DANV again. They tried a billing scam on me (wanted to charge me twice for my co-pay), and when I called their bluff by letting them know I will report them to the Attorney General of Virginia, they immediately retracted their scam. Here are the details: I saw Dr. Anjali Chandela on 4/29/13, and paid my $25 co-pay. My explanation of benefits from the insurance company showed the bill had been settled. Yesterday, I received a statement from them for the FIRST time saying my $25 co-pay was overdue and in the 30-60 day period! From the language in the statement, it also seemed to me as if they send you over to the collection agency after the second (30-60 day) statement. I have my credit card statement in my possession which shows a $25 co-pay was indeed charged on 4/29/13 by this practice. I called the number listed on the bill yesterday and let them know that the co-pay had already been paid at the visit and that it was NOT overdue. The lady on the phone said they do not show a co-pay on their records, and that I'll need to pay it or provide them with a credit card receipt or other proof of payment. At that point, it was smelling very fishy to me and I told them that it is not my responsibility to prove to them that I had paid them. Seriously? I also told them that if I don't get a new statement from them before the end of the week showing zero balance, I will write a letter to the Attorney General of Virginia with copies of their statement showing amount overdue, my explanation of benefits showing zero balance, and also a snippet of my credit card statement and report them for mail fraud. Guess what? I got a new statement from them faxed to me within a hour showing zero balance. I am now very doubtful that this was some sort an "error" on their part and that they are not trying to get co-pays twice from unsuspecting patients. If I didn't bother to look up my credit card statement from last month, they would have charged me twice for twice for the co-pay with no qualms (or worse, possibly damaged my credit by sending me over to collections). I wonder how many more patients they are doing this to. read more

I went to DANV a year ago and I'll never go back. I initially saw Dr. Anjali Chandela and she always came across as unsure of herself. Nothing could be more scary than a doctor that isn't sure they're giving you the right care. After a couple of visits, I wanted to see a different doctor and was lucky to get Dr. Shabazz. She never had me waiting too long and knew what she was doing. Yesterday, I went to the office, my appointment was @ 2:40PM and I arrived at 2:46PM. They asked me to fill paperwork out because it had been a year since my last visit and after I was done (5 min), I was still waiting in the lobby and FYI - I was the ONLY person waiting in the lobby. I wasn't called back until 3:08PM. When walking back to the exam room - the DR was in the hallway chatting with another staff member. I sat and waited in the exam room until 3:15. No one came in to check on me or let me know the DR was running late. I walked out of the exam room @ 3:16 and told them that I don't have too much time to waste. I went back to the front desk to get a refund for my co-pay and the receptionist asked if I was willing to wait another 5 minutes. I said ok and she told me that I'm the very next patient. I told her, why make my appointment for 2:40PM if you're going to have me wait? She mentioned that there is another procedure going on and that's why it's taking so long and I told her that it would be nice if someone had told me before my appointment so I had the option to reschedule before even making the drive during my work day. By the end of this conversation, 5 minutes had already passed so i asked that she process my refund. It was a complete waste of my time and they were completely disrespectful of their patient's time. No wonder they've got such horrible reviews, this place sucks. read more

I had a great experience here. I was recommended here for a chemical peel. I came on a Monday morning and the office was packed! The lady who did the peel seemed to really pay attention to my skin needs and took her time to answer all of my questions. Prior to the peel, we spent about 30 minutes just talking about my skin care, prior history, what to do's and what not to do's, the chem peel procedure, after care, etc. I did not feel rushed at all and she answered all questions thoroughly. The peel was great, I noticed a big difference afterwards and everything she had described in my consultation was accurate. She even called me a week after to check up on me. The chemical peels are $150 each but they offer a deal - 3 for $300. Highly recommended! read more

Worst customer service I have ever had. Over the phone it was like speaking to a woman who is just hating her life as in her tone seemed like she had pissed the bed in the morning. I got to the doctors office after going to the wrong address that they had on google so I wasted more gas going to a place where I felt uncomfortable. I walked in & saw the lady I spoke to on the phone. Wanted to throw something at her bc as I walked in. I sat down. Thinking okay they will call me because there's no god damn sign in sheet. The front desk animal said in a very nasty tone. "Are you here for an appointment" I replied back "Yea I am" She replied "Well how about you sign in" I was shocked someone could hire this beast at the desk. I visited doctor I don't remember she wasn't that important nor was the that knowledgeable. They wanted to get my money right up front. Filling prescriptions I didn't ask for making an appointment for me to get my milia removed off my face (small white pimples) kept trying to just get my money & they had already lost it when the beast at the desk was speaking to me. Dr. Chaudry of Dermatology Associates of Northern Virginia is awful. I have been seeing her for about a year when my original doctor left the practice. She is rude, condescending, and DOES NOT listen. I have been a client for years, but will now move on. Grateful there are other good doctors around that deserve my business!!! These doctors forget that we are clients and we have a choice of who we see. It's unfortunate! I highly advise to stay away from Dr. Chaudry, she is a joke and a waste of time. read more

I took my teenage daughter here for a few things - acne and a wart on her foot. I ended up taking her to the ER because the Dermatologist (abramova) burned her foot so badly with dry ice. After this incident, I called and they couldn't fit me in for 5 days to check on her. Horrible customer service and poor followup. I would never recommend them to anyone. read more

I received a call from my son's school stating he had broken out in a rash and could I please come get him. When I picked him up, his arm was inflamed and itchy and he was absolutely miserable. I am a patient of Dr. Mattay's at her Centreville location, so I called the office and they were able to fit me in to Dr. Mattay's busy schedule at the Sterling location. I received no push-back or rudeness whatsoever. In fact, everyone I spoke to seemed genuinely concerned about my son. Upon arrival, we were seen right away. Dr. Mattay had my son diagnosed in no time, our prescriptions were sent to our local pharmacy with no issues, and he was right as rain in less than a week. This practice must have a strategic partnership with Suburban Credit Corp ... this has now happened twice to me. In both cases, the bill was paid within 30 days of receiving a paper statement in the mail. In both cases the paper statement was not sent to me until I was in the 60-90 day window! Seriously, its like they were trying to trap me! Quality of service was also average at best. They gave me a "free sample" (nitrogen blast) of an age spot removal on my hand. Glad it wasn't on my face b/c the scar looks worse than the spot. Also, they left my wife on the table with a gaping hole in her back while they searched for the proper tools to sew it up. I would have given this practice a big fat zero BUT for Danielle their GREAT aesthetician. She is fantastic! Even better than any of the doctors I have had there. Typically I see Dr Chaudry but as good as she is, her schedule DOES NOT RESPECT other people's time. Appt or not, the wait is a 33min min which as a busy executive is extremely off putting to have my time utilized so ineffectively this way at EVERY single visit . Danielle on the other hand - wonderful, timely, patient, thorough, educated in her field, knowledgeable, gentle, hygienic, and conscious of patients time. If she ever leaves, I'm leaving the practice! She is now what officially keeps me coming back. Some other positive staff are Pam and Marcy!! read more

I needed a prescription refill weeks later, and again Michelle fails to return (2) calls to both Pharmacy, and myself requesting renewal. What gives? I called a day prior to my scheduled appt time to see if they had any later time slots and told them I may be late and was thinking about rescheduling since I wasn't sure how long my meeting would last. They mentioned that I had a 15 min window BUT FAILED TO MENTION the cancellation fee. CONSIDERING that I was a new client at this location (this would have been my first visit) and had not seen DR. Chaudhry before, I asked to speak to someone that could have that waived....I informed them I would take my business else where if they charge me for a fee that I was unaware of. They spoke to the "doctor", and they opted to charge me the $25 cancellation fee rather then keeping me as a client. Lost Hundreds of dollars vs. making $25. Bad business decision. Disappointed. I'm happy to say that all of my experiences with DANV have been positive. The staff is incredibly friendly and willing to talk to you, the wait has never been long, and Dr. Mattay has always been the best. She answers all of my questions about any concerns I have, not just the ones that I came for that day, and her procedures are always very fast and she gives me clear Instructions for what to do after I leave the office. I've yet to have a bad experience there and I'm happy to recommend them. read more

I'm baffled by the poor reviews, perhaps these are for the Sterling location. I visit the Centerville location and it's been nothing but great for me. I went there to treat my adult acne. I've tried every acne face wash from generic to brand name, have gotten professional facials, peels, dermabrasion, and I was even prescribed an antibacterial medication to treat my acne and pimples, but nothing worked. It got worse. Instead of getting one acne cyst every month on my chin I got multiples on my cheeks, and I began to grow whiteheads. My face was a bumpy mess. Right away Dr. Abramova recommended Accutane (the generic version of it). She said "you've tried everything let's not continue with things that don't work." She was very friendly and knowledgeable about skin. I knew immediately I was in good hands. After the first month of treatment with little side effects she put me on the stronger medication and that was horrific. It made me sick. When I told her she readily went back to the lower dose and has made every attempt to accommodate me in this process. The size of cysts and their duration has drastically reduced (8 months later with breaks in between treatments), my black heads are gone, and the white heads are gone. I am working on my last month of medication and I have one little cyst hanging on, but I expect it to abate shortly. I highly recommend this place for acne treatment. read more

I have nothing negative to say about this place. Fortunately, I was able to get a same day appointment. The staff members were pleasant, but not overly pleasant. They processed my information, gave me the necessary paperwork to fill out and answered a few questions that I had. I was seen by Dr. Camp, a young, but very knowledgeable dermatologist. All in all, I was in and out of there in roughly 30 minutes. I know that this can vary, depending on the severity of one's ailment and the number of patients being seen, so I won't dismiss the fact that I lucked out. Would I recommend DANV to someone else? Yes, based off of my experience, I would. They made a diagnosis, they gave me a prescription to remedy it and they had just enough bedside manner to leave a good impression - all that I could ask for when looking for a doctor/medical facility. read more

Dr Chaudhury treated my baby's eczema. She was very caring, patient and kind. She took her time to educate me about the disease. Now my baby's skin looks perfect! I love her and recommend her highly. For people complaining about having to wait recognize that going to a doctors office is not the same thing as going to a drive thru at McDonalds. Patients, unlike hamburgers, are unpredictable, they show up late, they have unexpected complications, they might need more time when receiving a difficult diagnosis like cancer. There are numerous factors that can cause a doctor to run late. read more

Run as far as you can, they are only interested in money. So, they prefer cosmetic patients over medical. The front desk and phone reservationists are very rude. They follow a script and don't know how to deal with anything outside of the box. If the patient asked questions or doubts anything from the office, you are treated as a victim. You can't get a consistent message - I had a medical treatment that I was informed earlier that was covered by insurance. However, when I went for the procedure the next person informed me that it wasn't covered and the previous person was mistaken. Then they told me that they wanted me to schedule a follow-up appointment and touch-ups were free and once again I was told that "nothing is free", regardless of the fact that they failed to treat the entire area. I've been a client of Dr. Mattay ... will not use "patient" since I am not sick ... for many years. So I thought long and hard about writing this review but, in the end, believe I must. There is no such thing as "customer service" at this practice. The front desk personnel are generally curt and unsmiling; and their telephone manners need addressing. I called for a Botox refresher with Dr. Mattay, one of the women told me it would take 4 months. I explained that the doctor is always able to find a 5-minute slot for me, given my frequent and long-standing treatments with her, and the staffer contradicted me, saying it had been "years" since I'd seen Dr. Mattay. Umm, no. I'd been there 3 months earlier. She looked again and said in a sulky tone, "oh, that's right" but did not make any effort to assist, nor did she apologize for basically calling me a liar. I asked her to have Dr. Mattay call me, hoping she would approve a quick Botox peek-in. This never happened. To be blunt, the majority of the staff needs an attitude adjustment. Nor have I ever received a call back from a medical aide, after leaving a voicemail. The person who listens to voicemail apparently doesn't write down the messages requesting one. To be blunt, the majority of the staff needs an attitude adjustment. Then there's the PRP fiasco this past summer, a procedure Dr. Mattay had recommended to improve the appearance of my skin. The aesthetician was nice enough, but distracted - she'd arrived somewhat breathless from another location. She neglected to take a "before" photo, and lamented the fact after she'd started. This procedure is considered very safe - certainly no hint of permanent scarring was ever mentioned. I now have discolored patterns where the needles were rolled five months ago. I showed these to Dr. Mattay during a Botox visit; she took photos, but responded to my concerns in a casual and breezy manner. I never received any follow-up contact to see how it was going - if there was any improvement. Clearly, she mustn't care, which is a wake-up call. My last Botox injections with Dr. Mattay - those I received several months ago, during the visit described above - caused two lumps to form above each eyebrow, which in turn caused the skin between my eyes to furrow. This is not the look I'd just paid several hundred dollars to alleviate that afternoon. The lumps are still tender almost 5 months later. The bottom line is that I believe anyone who may contemplate using this practice needs to be aware of my experiences. You may not have the same issues. Certainly, for many years I continued to see Dr. Mattay. But the incidents above have destroyed my trust. Further, where before I managed to overlook the poor customer service and staff problems because of this trust, they were taken into account when I decided to terminate my long-standing relationship with the practice. My dermatologist is Dr. Asmaa Chaudhry and she is very knowledge, kind, and willing to answer any questions. She's very serious about getting rid of my acne and seems to actually be invested. Her nurse (I wish I could remember her name) is absolutely LOVELY, and both women actually remembered personal details about my life after having met me only once over three months prior. So far the medication I've been taking for my skin has been working, but very slowly (which they warned me about). It's not quite there yet but it's improving very much and we're trying another treatment - she seems confident and knew without me saying much what the issue was and how to fix it. I've been very happy here and actually look forward to going back. Highly recommended. I don't have experience with any of the other doctors or locations (this pertains solely to the Sterling Ridgetop office) but my time at DANV has been very positive. read more

I have been patient of Dr. Chaudhry since 2014 and have seen her several times. I have always been impressed by her knowledge and attention to details. I had a surgical procedure done during my last visit. Dr. Chaudhry and her staff were very professional in taking care of me and followed up with me after the procedure.
