I really liked Shea - but the billing problem is not good. I went early in the year and my Medicare deductible had not been met. Usually the doctor's office wants to be paid for that at the time of visit. But US Dermatology in Waco did not. Later I got a bill for 111.99 for the Medicare deductible, but it had already been met by that time. USDerm will not resubmit the bill to Medicare. And now I have to deal with Medicare and try to fix this. DO NOT go to USDerm unless you really like paperwork, making lots of phone calls and being on hold. I am trying to get this taken care of - but USDerm will not help. read more

Staff seem immature and very friendly- Dr Mcmahan was wonderful- the check out staff was very rude when i was told she would make the appointment to get stitches out- she basically called me a liar. I have been sitting on phone to speak with a reception/appointment desk for over 30 minutes (call was cut off at 15 minutes and then after calling back and sitting another 22 minutes I hung up). All I want to do is confirm if I have an appointment. The customer service is atrocious. I have been going here over 5 years and been very satisfied with Dr McMahan but front office is terrible. I love this office. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. My dermatologist has a wonderful bedside manner and I have been met with nothing but excellent care. I have been going here for some time, and yes I have also witnessed rudeness from staff. I had an appointment yesterday and was told when I got there I had to pay another deposit because my insurance was still pending from my January appointment. I told them I had already made a deposit that they still had and they would not see me. I left and called billing. The person I talked to in billing told me that my insurance was not pending, in fact it was settled February 25th and I had a credit for the deposit on my account since then. The blonde girl up front has always been rude. I told her when I left I wanted the office manager to call me and she hasn't yet, I'm sure I won't hear from her to let them know what really happened. I have never agreed with this policy of wanting a deposit upfront especially if you pay your bills. One should not have to pay for those who don't take care of their billing! read more

I was disappointed with Dr McMahon at U.S Dermatology because I am an established patient and wanted a price for botox and filler, assuming I'd get a little discount as an established patient. Before I even saw her, while I was still on the phone w her office, I had to pay $100 down payment, whether she did anything to me or not...BEFORE I COULD EVEN SEE HER mind you... And then they refused to give me a ball-park figure for each procedure on the phone, so I didn't even know if I could afford it! What an absolute joke and waste of money. When booking my appointment, I clearly stated what my issue was and asked if they serviced it. They said yes.When I got into the appointment, the dermatologist claimed ignorance and that she doesn't service it. She bull shitted me for ten minutes and they were more than happy to take my $70 copay plus the insurance payout. The 18 year olds working the phones and the front desk were more than happy to keep tittering about. This is clearly a practice that's not built on servicing clients and making a difference, but hustling for easy money grabs. read more

Dr. Young McMahan is rude and condescending, and acts as though people are beneath her. The front staff is never the same, and this place cannot seem to keep a decent employee or nurse in the back. The esthetician, Brianna, is also very aggressive, pushy , and just plain rude. After seeing her out in public ridiculously drunk, was humiliating knowing that is who they have working as an aesthetician. I found her to be extremely unprofessional. I witnessed her bullying and being extremely hostile towards other women, and found her behavior appalling. I would NEVER recommend this place, especially Dr. Young McMahan , who sits so far up on her high horse and talks down to people, is so blatantly fake and arrogant it's absurd . Do not recommend. Give your hard earned money to someone else who actually cares, and doesn't look at you as just more money for their next vacation or designer purse. read more

Please, please, please reconsider scheduling some place different. Although Dr. McMahan may be a nice doctor, I don't know, her staff was impatient, uninformed, rude, defensive and difficult to work with. They were very guarded and demanded not giving me any information. All they wanted to do was get me scheduled. They also told me that Dr. McMahan does not use numbing creams. I found that alarming since I am new to botox and that is all I have ever had. The biggest issue I have is that her nurse, Emily, was very interruptive and was eating while she was on the phone with me. She didn't have the time to answer any of my questions. I took off work and went to this facility for an appointment on a referral. When I got up there I was told they did not take my insurance. I called back the people that referred me and stated why would you send me somewhere that doesn't take our insurance. Now my insurance company stated that us dermatology Did Take our insurance. So I called us dermatology back and asked donyall take this insurance and they lady says Yes. I said thats so weird that I was just up there an hour ago and you turned me away when I refused to pay 240$ for a visit. She then stated oh well maybe we don't. I said why would you answer of your not sure. When I called her incompetent she told.me she was disconnecting the call. These people are uneducated about thier services. Thier front desk people need training. Do not go to them without double checking because they are incompetent and wasted my day off of work. read more

Referred to Dr. Gregory Walker for Biopsy and Mohs surgery. Went in for the biopsy performed by the nurse practitioner "Shay." Results came back, spoke with his nurse who stated the following: "Dr. Walker prefers that Dr. Snavely, in another city, does the Mohs surgery. Did she tell me why? Absolutely not and it's "my" medical information. She said the same thing when I asked why regarding using another doctor in another city. Dr. Gregory Walker is the only one at my home location for this office who does Mohs as per his receptionist. Now I have to drive for 2 hours round trip to get this done. I am glad I read the other reviews because I experienced some of the same things that were negative. I called my home location of this office earlier today and was transferred twice, not to the nurse as I was told, but to a customer service center in a different city. You have to navigate an 'iffy" phone system to get anywhere. I am definitely going to confirm my insurance, costs, etc. before going and hopefully the information I receive will be correct. read more

I was referred to Dr McMahan due to several lesions on my face that would not heal. My regular physician was concerned that they might be cancerous and wanted a Dermatologist to check them more carefully. As she felt this was fairly urgent I was surprised when I couldn't get an appointment with US Dermatology for several weeks. When I did finally have my appointment although Dr McMahan was very nice she was quite perfunctory and my appointment was very hurried. I do not feel that she examined my face very thoroughly; she just froze everything that she saw without even looking at them carefully. When I asked about a small lump in my ear she stated that she didn't have the instrument with her to check it. I was given a follow up appointment in two months. On that day, an hour before I was scheduled to be there (I live out in the country quite a distance away so I was just about to leave.) Dr McMahan's office called and canceled my appointment. The next available appointment would be in another six weeks so I just canceled the appointment entirely. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with this office. I will go back to my family doctor and get her to check my face. If she feels that I need a specialist I'll drive to Austin or Dallas before I go back to this practice. read more

I saw Dr. McMahan about a month ago for Botox. She is a new dermatologist with the practice and is super friendly. I waited to write this review to see the full results. She did an amazing job! I don't have any drooping or uneven eyebrows, my forehead isn't totally frozen/immobilized so the results are so natural. She even noticed a spot on my hand where I had a burn on my skin, and she asked about it. She is really thorough and detailed! Another thing I liked about her was that she didn't act rushed, and I didn't feel like a number, instead of a person. Also the ladies at check-in and the nurses were very nice, spoke and looked professional. The clinic was nicely decorated, not overly done, and comfortable. I will definitely be back, and I'm driving a long way to see Dr. McMahan! read more

I really enjoy coming into US Dermatology here in Waco. The doctors are attentive and willing to answer any questions I have had. The staff is great and works hard. McMahan is the best at what she does and I can always trust her and her nurse Emily to provide the best service. I saw Dr. Rowe last week and it was a far better experience than I expected. Dr. Rowe and his assistant Lauren were both very friendly and caring and immediately eased my anxiety over standing in a paper gown in front of two strangers.
