I would like to report an ongoing safety concern at the post office on Battlefield Road near the…read moreWalmart. I sell online and often need to drop off packages in the morning before going to work, using the self-service kiosk. On several occasions, I have had to leave without dropping off my packages because there was a homeless individual sleeping or standing in the lobby. This has made me feel unsafe, especially during early morning hours when there are no employees present. I understand that this can be a difficult situation, but something needs to be done to ensure customer safety. At a minimum, having police or security do periodic drive-bys or checks would help. Customers should not have to feel afraid simply dropping off a package, especially when many of us rely on early-morning access due to work schedules.

Customers will need to drive in back to enter. The lot is huge and signage is over the door. Of note this is the only passport service on the Southside. Appointments are highly recommended, but when slow they will take walk-in. Customers can compete forms online or in person. Check or debit card appear to be the only two forms of payment. Cash was not discussed however. There is plenty of seating as the area is spacious. Two agents were working and luckily caught at a slow weekday. The wait was short, the process easy and the customer service exceptional. My daughter who is 18 will have her passport in around six weeks. She also opted for a second form of ID the passport card. It's the size of a drivers license. It's somewhat newer. You can bring your own photo of official size, or opt for the agent to take. If picky bring your own, the photo for my daughter came out extremely light. My experiences with the post office have been average to weak, so this is a huge bump in confidence for the U.S. Postal Service. Also of mention for those that need documentation they can obtain online through Vital Check. I requested a Yelp edit to add passport services. Full 5 stars.

This made no sense to me so I submitted an edit of US Postal Service - South Norfolk. My edit was rejected so here we are. This post office serves zip code 22324 in the SoNo section of Chesapeake, Virginia. It is small but a full-service post office that offers all the services one expects from a post office. This postal location does not have its own public parking lot but if you are unable to find available street parking there is a large parking lot for South Norfolk Christian Church nearby. There is always plenty of available parking in the church lot. I have parked there many times and have never had an issue. Staff here is friendly and helpful. I appreciate the convenient location and the service they provide. Despite its small size they are able to handle all my postal needs.

Well...the office we were at, unfortunately, didn't have the size box that my sister suggested. The Clerk there however (didn't catch her name), took the time to weigh the content of what I wanted to ship and then suggested the best way for me to send it. Basically, saved me a bunch of money. It was just wonderful to find such awesome customer service at a Governmental Agency. This lady pretty much bent over backwards to assist me. All I can say is Thank You very much. They do not operate in accordance with the hours the government assigns them. The one time I went and they were not on lunch, the woman at the register was not qualified to operate the register, meaning she couldn't check me out. Which made my visit entirely useless and I had to come back another day. I actually dread coming here and try to avoid USPS, particularly this one, at all costs. There is no custom form out so I join the line waiting to speak with someone. At 4 52 I spoke with the male clerk and he gave me the form and said I have 8 minutes to fill it outs I said fine, I will be done in too because I'm a fast writer. I completed the sender information and was about to write on the receiver line and I heard "we can't send international packages, why didn't she come early" I looked around and stated the office closes at 5 and I've been here 24 minutes to be exact. She implied that the policy changed and customs forms can't be filled out after 4 45 pm . The male clerk asked when was this implemented, she said last week and he said he was not aware for such information. I was on the phone with my sister who works at USPS in Queens, NY and she said the company doesn't have a policy like that. I repeated what she said to the male clerk and he asked if she is a clerk or she works in the back. Why should it matter? I said she is a clerk for 7 years. The female clerk starts to mumble and utter it is there policy and she can't assist. I could see the awkwardness on his face and he walked away. The 2nd female clerk shouted out "tell her to come back we not doing international". Please take in to account the officer closes at 5pm. The reviews on this page is embarrassing and at what point will someone go there and pretend like a customer and see how their attitude stinks and how vulgar and unprofessional they are??? He had to do an in-person identification at the Post Office in Virginia, but he is currently in NYC. The Kempsville location said that I would have to go to NYC and take my son to the PO to identify him in person smh lol. All I had to do at this location was show my ID and bring his birth certificate, which makes a lot more sense. I was in and out within 5min. No lines.

For example, a lady walked in and didn't have a key for her box for her apartment complex. The ladies behind the desk were well aware of the apartment complex, made a phone call to the maintenance department, and got her all figured out.

I ask if I would still be able to send my package.. "Yea but you need to write a little bit faster." What? Since when am I, as the customer, on your time? I was raised right so I bit my tongue on that one. But I think she needs a major reality check. You can't say whatever you want to just anybody. It'll come back to bite you eventually. How in the heck there is no one to make a key when you go to pick it up? Why are you not able to receive a mailbox key when you move to a new state and home? This is ridiculous. WE should not have to go and pick up mail at a post office that is not even your nearby local office. The Post Master General needs to fix the problems of this office.
