The nursery is on s side of East allen rd in a former old horse ranch filled with a big selection of plants , cacti , & more . Great alternative to the big nursery across the street if you didn't want to navigate big acreage . It's fun for kids & families too with Burros , tractor , & more in an eclectic local fun organic display .

The staff was friendly and responsive, and happy to help while I was looking around. One of the highlights was definitely the koi ponds--they were really cool to watch, and spotting the turtle hanging out with the koi was an unexpected bonus. They also have a nice variety of pots and plant accessories, so it's easy to find everything you need in one stop. Great plants, great atmosphere, and even some entertaining aquatic roommates. Definitely worth a visit!

I am glad we stopped in! They had a fantastic selection of plants along with a wide variety of needs like soils, grow lights, pots and more. The prices were great as well, both my mother and I ended up buying several plants and my mom even had a few planted in store as they had a deal where if you bought a plant & a pot, they would repot the plant into the pot for you. They also sold Koi fish in different sizes for anyone looking to start a pond in their yard. We live up in Phoenix, but this store would be worth the drive to go down and visit to pick up some more plants when we are looking for them. Our plants made it back on the trip perfectly fine & they still look fantastic. I can't wait to see their growth, and I will be trying out an indoor plant fertilizer I bought at Ecogro to help some of my other indoor plants flourish as well. I recently called old Pueblo cactus when our beloved saguaro began to appear ill. I received a…read moreprompt response from the reception and sent out the field manager within days. Jalon was wealth of knowledge in regard to the saguaros health. Unfortunately I got the bad news that it wasn't looking good for my cactus. However, Old Pueblo Cactus offers removal service and they sell a large variety of cacti as a replacement. Jalon, the field service manager offered us different options at different price points for something to go in its place. They can place extremely large saguaros (with multiple arms) either by truck or crane if it is in a difficult to access area. They will arrange the crane service and take care of everything. We may have underestimated how much time then saguaro had, And it ended up falling over on its own, almost like it knew we were planning a removal! So, we actually didn't not end up having to cut it down. They have a beautiful nursery and holding lot with very healthy specimens to choose from.

I picked out some herbs, a sun gold tomato plant and a large Mexican oregano which I haven't found anywhere else in town. The selection is never ending and you can find many native plants that are difficult to find, elsewhere, and impossible to find at the large chain nurseries. I've ended up taking so many plants back to larger places (that I won't name, but we all know) because, even when buying them at whatever price, at the time, I already know that they won't last the year that they are guaranteed for. It always seems like such a waste. Built from the ground up, it's nice to go somewhere that you know isn't just a gear in the big box monster machine. Gardening was one of the things that got me through a cancer journey, and yesterday, as I put my hands in sand and soil, I watched a hummingbird light on one of my favorite flowering bushes, that Jared, the owner, helped me pick out, near the beginning. It was little when I chose it, but now is almost five feet high. I don't remember it's name, but if I were to show anyone who works at Spadefoot, they would know what plant it is, where it can thrive, what care it will require, and when it will bloom. With some thought and planning, one can literally have a rotating buffet of blossoming food for all the critters, without adding any dyes, sugars, or plastic feeders. Nature does it all. I think of this nursery, every single morning, when I see this particular bush, which feeds the bees, hummers... Offers shade and shelter to those without wings, and other wonders, and remember how all things are connected. If you want a peaceful, lovely way to spend some time, skip the bustle and take a stroll, through this unpretentious garden space, and take a bit of that home, with you. Also, the name made me curious. So, look it up. It's hecka cool.

Bought 6 cactus from Richard/Southwest Cactus. Started with 1 armplant, then added another…read morearmplant and an 8 foot spear. That was the front yard. Richard then assured me that he could get some saguaros in the backyard using the "wagon". He and his team not only got 3 saguaros in the backyard through my 36" gate, 1 was an armplant. I've got so many compliments on these wonderful plants. Couldn't be happier about them and Southwest Cactus.

Unless you are planting or moving a Saguaro with no time schedule - DO NOT USE THIS THESE GUYS…read more THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE AND DO NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES. I hired them a year ago to work with our landscaping company to provide larger cactus for our new build. Bad mistake. They delayed the project for months because they never showed up when they said they would, and finally we had to finish the project without all their cactus being planted. When they were finally done, they presented me with a bill that was 30% higher than they originally quoted. I reluctantly paid it to ensure that they would honor their warranties. Again, a bad mistake. Now, almost a year later a couple thousand $ worth of their plants are dead and they will not answer phone calls or texts. If you need anything more than a single cactus - STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.
