Really good-- until it wasn't. I was craving an acai bowl and came across this place when searching for nearby stores. I mobile ordered a small acai bowl and a chicken jalapeño empanada. About halfway through eating my bowl, I found a hair. And I knew it was not my hair because it was dark (I have light hair), and I discovered it halfway through my bowl, so it was clearly deep in there/mixed in when making my bowl. Unfortunately, I had to toss the rest of my bowl because I was disgusted. So there went $14 down the drain :/ $14 for a small by the way, which I thought was kind of ridiculous, but I do like that it's unlimited toppings. The empanada was pretty good, and I do like that it comes with sauces on the side as well. They also have a decent variety of empanada flavors. But $6.50 for just 1 was not worth it in my opinion. This place is definitely on the pricier side. It wouldn't be something I would buy regularly. More so just for a craving/quick fix. I do appreciate the variety of base flavors (besides just acai) and many topping options. The agave coconut base and the pitaya base were really good. This was my first visit here, but unfortunately will also be my last visit since the hair in my food really ruined the experience for me :( read more

Book Club meet up and why not at Ubatuba Acai. We were greeted at walk in. they have a few indoor tables, all dirty. we asked for some napkins to clean them off a little. We ordered and let me say my bowl was delicious. i added Acai , overnight oats, banana , mango, chocolate chips, coconut flakes, peanut butter drizzle , honey and some peanut butter powder and granola. (FIRE) SO GOOD. Ordered some Nutella empanada, if you are not a cream cheese fan do not order, the cream cheese definetly over powered. I informed them i was not a fan and if we can exchange them. Both employees did not know what to say. i said if not its ok. thank you ill just throw them away, the gentleman then said its ok we can exchange, he then procedded to ask me 4+ times what would you like the 4 x i said peperoni, the your lady was on it and started baking them. he then asked again what would you like, i looked at my sister&law and thought this was a joke. i said i think she is on it. he said oh okay. we stepped to the side and they burned them (omg) they added another 2 to bake again and thankfully those came out great. well that was an experience ;) read more

Came in here on Saturday and waited about 20 minutes to get my Acai bowl. There were two employees and they were working hard to serve the decently large line. So the one interesting thing about this spot is that they also sell empanadas that were pretty good. I ended up getting a large acai bowl and 3 empanadas for like $34 and was pretty satisfied for lunch. They also let you sample the acai before if you like. I left the store at 4 pm today. I go to so many places all over LA--Melrose, 3rd Street, Koreatown--places where they actually know how to make a proper smoothie. They'll blend the granola if you ask, no problem. But here? They tell me their blender is "too old" to blend granola, so they just dump it on top like I'm supposed to drink it through a straw. Are you serious? And to make it worse, one of the employees clearly didn't want to deal with my order at all. The moment she heard I wanted to customize my smoothie, she passed me off to another guy instead of just helping me. He was helpful, sure, but she didn't even try--right in front of me. I got a small Pitaya bowl. I usually get açaí as my base but wanted something different. The associate let me try the Pitaya before committing. It's a sweet taste but not overbearing at all. Definite five stars! The açaí bowl here was fresh with awesome toppings and really hit the spot for an active breakfast. I didn't even get a chance to catch a picture because it looked so appealing that my kids started devouring the açaí bowl immediately. The staff were friendly and helpful. I love this açaí place. I've been coming here the last few years and all of the workers are very friendly and helpful when selecting what to get! I always make my açaí bowl the same way Açaí, Pitaya, matcha and chia pudding for the base I then request to put the dry toppings first, Coconut, almonds, hemp seeds etc They do offer gluten free granola!!! I didn't get it today, but I've had it and it's delicious! I appreciate all for being free fruit toppings, the fruit is cut fresh each day. That's why there may not always be the same fruit selection. It's prettiest to end up with the fruit on top in my option as well. It's worth it for the price, it's a massive bowl for the large ($17) 2 girls walked in before me and said they swear they have the best smoothies in town. I'll have to try it next time! I'm so overdue for this review. I came here in late July for Yelp Elite's Hot & Fresh Around SFV. And this spot truly lived up to that description. I got a MEDIUM BOWL OF ACAI with all my favorite fixings of bananas, strawberries, blueberries, mango, and even goji berries. Topped it all off with toasted coconut shavings, cacao nibs, and carob chips----YUMMMM!! The visit also included 1 EMPANADA. But there were so many mouth-watering options of Nonna's empanadas I decided to get two more since there was a half-off special for Yelp Elites. I was super-duper excited for the VEGAN & VEGETARIAN options so I got the BEYOND PHILLY, CHIK'N SALSA VERDE, AND MUSHROOMS. You get hot sauce and chimichurri sauce to dip them in. My, oh my! These empanadas are hearty and heavenly!! My fave is the MUSHROOMS. BEYOND PHILLY AND CHIK'N SALSA (with the yummy chimichurri) are close second. I love that they were not too bready nor greasy....just a good amount of the flavorful filling. I highly recommend them with your acai bowl. They make a perfect pairing. This Valencia location is perfect! Lots of ample parking in the street and nearby structure. The staff is absolutely great! They're so courteous and friendly. When I noticed that the 2 empanadas were charged full price, Paola made sure to give me a refund. She texted me a couple days later to let me know that it was refunded to my account. She's awesome! Such great customer service! I also loved that they have a water refill station and many of their beverages are mainly in glass, carton, or aluminum containers so they are infinitely recyclable. I went to go see "free guy" at the regal movie theaters nearby and I thought, let me go to juice it up!. However, juice it up! Went out of business and was replaced by ubatuba. My sister claims the acai bowls here are great. She works in burbank and has been to ubatuba on multiple occasions. I have never been and since I saw it was new, I decided to try it out. I ordered the protein milkshake. It was extremely sweet and I wouldn't recommend to get it. It was 10$ and comes in one size, the 16 oz. It had protein in it and I just wanted to try it. The other item ordered was their acai bowl that you can customize to your liking. I got the medium size that was 10$ and well, I had better. Acai jungle in burbank was definitely by far better in taste and texture. This one had a clumpy, chalky texture to it although it tasted fine. But, the upside is that it was 10$. My total was 20$ and at acai jungle it was the same price for the bowl alone. But quality is what matters here and ubatuba failed to bring it. The customer service however, was very good. Excellent in fact, the three girls inside were friendly and well, had masks on so I couldn't tell what they really looked like. They serve empanadas with different fillings that I just was not interested in. The thing I dislike most about the place is that you have to customize your bowl. When customizing, you don't know how much add ons that accumulate in price from each topping you want. Some could range from 0.75$ to 1.00$. The toppings offered were healthy for the most part: granola, oats, chia seeds, hemp seeds, bee pollen, Nutella, cacao nibs, honey, agave and grounded nuts. You can also add peanut butter or almond butter. Outside are benches in an outlet like Settings between the movie theater and mall with various side chain stores nearby. When I came, it was completely empty, a lonely deserted scenery. The inside is very small and due to the mask policy, I wouldn't dare stay. Overall, the best part was the customer service, the prices were luckily lower than expected and the overall quality could be better. But, there is no real reason to give less than 5 stars. Tip: great place for guys to take a girl out on a date. It hits all the right bells and whistles. Affordable and you get your movie theater nearby and the mall. read more

If so, they treat you way different than the next customer so come in having studied the menu. The horrible attitude of both employees tonight was very unwelcoming. Icy! Rocky! Wth? Go to the Koreatown location, almost daily . I don't know why their locations are so inconsistent with each other and have different menu options and different ways of doing things. But one thing that stands out to me is the quality difference between locations. At the Koreatown location, the acai always is smooth and perfect. This location was so disappointing because the açai was not blended fully, and it was literally rocky and icy. When I first ordered my bowl, the girl literally filled it not even halfway.. I don't know if it was because I wasn't getting granola or if she just saw the disappointed look on my face seeing my $13 acai bowl filled a third of the way to the top, but she ended up putting a little bit bit more in... bowl also was a lot smaller than the one I get as a medium at the Koreatown location. So that's why it's getting two stars. I think if I was getting granola, she would've left it filled only 1/3 of the way up. That and nobody wants rocky açaí. read more
