While on the verge of "hanger" due to a long and stressful travel day, we stopped at Zankou Chicken. It was the closest place we found in the area that sounded good, after we checked the profile and reviews on Yelp. We were glad we stopped here. I ended up eating here twice during my visit to CA. The chicken is top tier quality/taste and everything else is just as good! We ordered the kebab plate; it comes with a chicken skewer, hummus, rice, pita bread, and cucumber salad. We ordered a small side of tzatziki as well. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. I love that they are very generous with their portions and the pricing is reasonable. This pick up at Zankou Chicken was easy and fast. I was welcomed by staff immediately after entering the restaurant. Staff was friendly and assisted me making sure everything was in the bag. Hmmmm.... I really love their food, but they have really slid back. We ordered a bit of everything. Mutabal, Schwarma, Lule, tabbouleh, tzatziki, and the fire roasted veggies and rice/hummus staples. They all will get a star for their Garlic sauce, but 4/5 Pitas have green mold on them. It's really a lot to ask of prices these days when food quality is truly degrading fast. I've always loved open kitchen restaurants, so after hearing great things about Zankou Chicken, I decided to stop by on my drive to Northern California. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and a beef shawarma sandwich. The food itself was actually very tasty, and the hummus in particular was excellent. Unfortunately, later that day I developed sharp stomach pain, and within a couple of hours I felt so sick I was close to going to the ER. I ended up vomiting and, after that, started to feel better. I'm not sure what caused it, but it was a really unpleasant experience, especially for my first visit. Unfortunately, this Valencia location has consistently disappointed me with pickup orders. This was my fourth time ordering, and once again, items were missing from my bag. This time I did not receive: My family pita bread (6) order A beef kabob ($8.99) 4 additional garlic sauces that I paid for A large cucumber salad I know I should have double-checked the bag before leaving, but I truly believe customers should be able to trust that their full, paid-for order is packed correctly--especially for takeout. At this point, I'm cutting my losses and choosing not to order from this location again. I'll always love Zankou Chicken as a whole, but the repeated issues with missing items at this location make it hard to justify coming back. read more

Usually, the service is decent, but tonight it was a mixed bag. We got there a few minutes before it was supposed to be ready. They were unorganized and didn't tell us where to go, so we walked over and saw that our order was sitting there while duplicate copies of the same items came out and went out with other orders; meanwhile, ours was dying in the window. Finally, the girl putting together the order shouted at us, and I said to my husband, "Guess our chicken is dead now." It had been twenty minutes sitting there, so MARISOL--the most amazing employee there-- saw and took action and got us two replacements since ours was just sitting there. We didn't even ask for it. She went above and beyond, and we are grateful. The other woman should not be working the expo, as she was screaming at us and everyone, and clearly couldn't handle the job. We remedied the situation with a Tri-Tip Shawerma Wrap, extra Garlic Sauce and a Cucumber Salad side. I've always stuck with their chicken items so this was a semi-new experience for me, too! Apologies for not taking pics of our lunch, but we were too busy scarfing it down! It was really tasty.. I'd get it again! But he still needs to try a Chicken Tarna wrap or a Bowl/ Salad for the full experience. The location is immaculate! White tiled walls, clean and shiny tables.. no dust on the light fixtures! It is very well maintained. The staff behind the counter are all very friendly and helpful, too. Great place for dining in if you're out and about! Don't forget to try their drinks. Next to the sodas are their homemade beverages similar to aguas frescas, but they had flavors like cucumber mint.. so refreshing! I used to frequent Zankou more often when I lived and worked in the San Fernando Valley. Nice to have this one (one of the "good" locations, IYKYK) in Santa Clarita. I genuinely don't know how this place is still in business. A chicken plate is $17 and includes a tiny little scoop of chicken, a pitiful salad and some hummus and bread. They can't even warm up the bread for you and it comes still in the bag. The chicken is very dry and flavorless and I was still hungry after eating the whole plate. When I'm playing paying $17 for a plate I at least expect a full meal, but this was more fitting for a teenager.
