Please inspect the vehicles your drivers use. Many times the vehicles are so darn disgusting that I would rather walk then sit inside and smell the cigarette or food smells. I understand Uber is cheaper than a car service but having a clean car inside should be a must. The drivers are getting worse and worse as well, do you even check if the drivers have a license. It seems like most of the drivers have less than a year of driving experience. Stop hiring just anyone! read more

Now that Metro has decided that those of us who live on the south end of town really don't need to use the bus after 10PM I am totally in love with Uber! And UberX is an even better deal if you don't want the whole town car experience. I can get from Belltown to my house in Georgetown for about $16 with just a few clicks on my phone. I hate driving and parking into downtown, I never drink and drive, and I drink often, so Uber is a life saver. Even just going from happy hour oysters near Benaroya to dinner in the Denny Triangle when I don't want to walk in the rain is a screaming deal, and so easy to just request the car on the App. The drivers are always Uber professional to, they will talk if you are feeling the chatty effects of 5 or 6 cocktails, or just leave you to your surly self loathing when you want to embrace your seasonal affective disorder. read more

I've used lyft constantly since it was created and actually had weirdly great transit experiences. My friends and I went on a field trip on the advice of a lyft chef who picked us up once. I get how to use smart phone car service. I've used both Uber and UberX - the car service and the ridesharing service. I used Uber (town car service) because I was invited and had a free first ride for up to $30. The driver parked around the corner from me, called me and waited for me to join him (I was on crutches and he waited for me to limp / crutch over to him in an empty parking lot). He seemed pissed off - I'm kind of glad his phone suddenly made the ride be over right when his black jeep got us out of the parking lot. He told me I should just call a new ride, he'd accept and we'd keep going, throwing me the minimum ride charge in cash (a $5 bill). Nope! It called a different car. And that was my free ride. Uber did not care. Dicks. The UberX driver I had with my second invite (do I ever learn?) was pretty awful, too. Complained about having to come to "the sticks" to pick me up. I live in Ballard. I resently started driving with Uber because of a $1000 new driver bonus that you would reserve after completing 150 rides within 60 days. I prefer town cars to cabs. When I am planning on going to events I have a town car service that I use religiously. Not all drunken nights are planned and then it's Uber to the rescue! Talk about easy to use! I don't like cabs because I don't like having to drunk talk to strangers on the phone. To get a cab you have to figure out where you are first, and sometimes depending on how much I drink that can get very tricky (I may have used "I am on a street in front of a tall building" before). Here comes Uber with this easy to use drunk proof app! GPS finds your location and you can choose between a Prius, town car or SUV to come pick you up. You can see on a map how far away the driver is and they give you great time estimates. My favorite part is that you already have a pre registered card on file and all payment is done electronically, tip included. Saves you that awkward drunk moment of trying to pay and pretend you know what is going on. Yes during peak hours/holidays they do charge more, however on the app it discloses this and you have to agree to it before you book. New Years Eve, Uber quoted us 2x the rate and Taxi quoted us at 2 hour wait, we decided to pay more to stick to our schedule. You pay for the convenience. read more

I used Uber once before and it was fine but this time...oh boy! It started on a sour note when our taxi driver yelled at me on the phone for putting in the wrong address. Über has a map that finds your location for you and I forgot to double check the address. My bad but it was only one block off so not really a huge deal right? Wrong!! When he made it to my house, he made me cancel and re-book the trip and now it was x2 instead of x1.25 the normal fare!! I told him that the fare had gone up and he was not nice about it! He opened my door and told me to get out. I calmly told him that it wasn't a big deal and to calm down. We were late and really had no choice at that point. His attitude never recovered and neither did my bank account. When he dropped us off I told him I had a coupon and he rudely said "they'll take it off your bill automatically!" And he left (not before we had an exchange of words). I don't think I'll use über again. I've never had a ruder more expensive experience with a taxi company. If there is nothing special about your service, what makes you think I'd pay $78 for a rude driver to go across town? Our taxi going home from was $25 after tip by the way and our driver was very nice to us. read more

But today when my driver was nowhere near the pick up location and I asked for a refund I didn't get one. Instead he refund the wrong trip. I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

After getting an Uber ride home from the movies last night, I received an email from Uber this morning informing me that my card was charged an additional $50 for a cleaning fee because I had made a mess in the drivers car. This couldn't be further from the truth and is a scam. I have never made a mess during any ride. I find this so disturbing and all the more disturbing that I have no way of getting hold of a live person to dispute this charge. I have sent emails into a black hole to dispute this charge and have received no response yet. Is Uber getting so desperate for business that they are scamming their once loyal customers? They need to be reported for this bad behavior at the highest level. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

Everything bad you've heard about Uber is true. It's a disaster. I've used them when I've been in a pinch and regretted it every time. Bad service and even worse driving. Let's get one things straight, none of these drivers have a clue how to drive. By that I mean they don't know the rules of the road. After a good friend of mine recommended Uber as a very good cab ride anywhere in.Seattle area I decided to it a try. Driver was late and his response was "I don' usually drive around s*** areas". I told him that what he said is extremely rude and not an excuse. Once I entered the "limo" which was dirty and smelled like spicy food. I told him where I was going and once we were on our way he started asking me why I am going to a "fag" club. Not to mention talking on his personal cell while driving. We used Uber for the first time a few days ago to get our group of 5 to SeaTac airport, and we had a great experience! We ordered an SUV, and used a first-time user's discount, so it was definitely cheaper than a cab. Our driver was friendly and welcoming, and had bottles of water in the car for us to drink, as well as altoids! He also offered us the opportunity to charge our phones. No complaints here; I would definitely use Uber again. read more

OMG! Purchased a legitimate $100 gift card 3 days ago (from Fred Meyer) to use on trip today. Tried to add it to my payment options under my account, their site said 'invalid card #. Uber support can ONLY be contacted via email, they have NO phone support. They do not respond with helpful solutions. One response said 'sorry you're having trouble; you may purchase gift cards at Uber.com. REALLY? I'm off now on my trip and could not use the gc funds. Today, Finally, I can see 'Gift Card credit $100.' In my account, But the funds cannot be accessed. Uber says tap on the credits tab to use the credits but That Does Not Work, nothing happens. Maybe this is my own fault for not checking the trip estimator but a ride from my apartment in Ballard to Westlake Station cost me $30 dollars...WTF...compared to Lyft where it only costs me $18-$19 dollars MAX. The "town car" was this dilapidated black lincoln which from the outside looked nice enough but on the inside everything was run down and gross. I ended up having to give step by step directions to the driver because he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about even when I gave him specific landmarks and streets. In downtown after a Mariners game, needed a ride home. Tried to go on their website from my iPhone, they thought I wanted to be a driver. Couldn't arrange a ride with them, so ended up taking a cab home. So later I tried to download their app and sign up. They say to verify my phone number they will send me a text, but the text never arrives. So I tried to sign in on my laptop. Same message about how they will send me a text to verify my mobile number, but the text never arrives. Meanwhile, my profile is only half-completed. When I try to change my profile, it takes me to uber.partners.com where it thinks I want to be a driver again! Got on chat to try to solve the problem, but was placed on hold on chat and they never got back to me. Terrible customer service, terrible website, terrible company. This was my first time using UberX, and it will be my last. There were several different aspects of the ride that were unpleasant. The app was easy enough to use, and there was someone in the area to pick me up within a few minutes. However, the driver could not figure out how to get to my apartment building in Lower Queen Anne! I gave them directions over the phone for about 3 minutes before they found my place. The directional problems did not end there. The driver initially avoided freeways and arterials, and instead took us through slow residential streets. In addition, we started off driving towards Magnolia when the destination was U District, which added an extra mile and time to the meter. My driver ignored the GPS unit to go this roundabout way, and I started telling them where to go to get the rest of the way back. This might also be my ignorance, but the pictures on the website seem to suggest that their fleet uses new, blacked out cars, but my ride was in a 10 year old gray Kia Sportage. Not quite as nice as I was expecting, but I did not mind too much. However, the real problem with the Uber service is their "Surge" pricing scheme. During peak times, their rates can significantly increase. My 5 mile, 15 minute trip wound up costing $140!! Unbelievable. With the directionally challenged driver, questionable vehicle, and obscene pricing, I will never use Uber again. There is a reason why legitimate taxi services are licensed: to prevent crap like this. read more

Uber is a good fit for Seattle. Traffic sucks and no parking is how this service works. Knowing the flat fee and being able to tip (if wanted) is great. My love affair with Uber is coming to an end. Been using them for a year and a half & it seems like the service is really going downhill. Tonight I tried twice to get a pick up at 5th & Lenora. Not a hard address to locate. Both times the ap said they were 3 to 4 min. Away. Stood there for 10 minutes one time &!15 the next. Tried calling & texting both times... No response! Finally grabbed a cab. Drivers don't seem to know where they are going half the time. I've only lived in Seattle for 2 years so I can't tell them. Then try to send a message to Uber.com .. I had taken two Uber trips that were fine. Now I'm not so happy. I got charged $84 for a 17.8 mile trip from Federal Way to the SeaTac airport at 7 pm. I can't get anyone on the phone and I can't get it resolved. Even their estimates calculate it at a much lower fare. Their customer service is nonexistent. Horrible experience and will never take uber or anything like it again. Being a bartender, I know what it's is to wait on people. That being said, I have no idea how uber works. My friend told me to try them and I downloaded the app, set it up and requested a ride. When the driver showed up before I even said hello, he states, "You should have called someone else or cancelled, I was really far away." My response was simple, "This is my first time ever taking uber, I live in Seattle and ride a motorcycle every damn day, rain or shine." If my bike wasn't in repair I would have rode in the rain. Uber had changed their fare structure... be prepared to pay the estimate price even if the actual fare on the drivers meter is less! My driver told me $16.xx when we closed out the ride at the airport. I was actually charged $25.xx. Uber said you get the estimate price.... even if the fare by actual trip is lower. Uber's GPS is poor... drivers keep going to the wrong place even when I put in the actual address. I had one driver "accept" my call for a taxi... then he told me he was not coming... then I was charged a cancelation fee. I later learned that if a driver decides your trip is "to short"... some will tell headquarters( a click on their application)... passenger was not at pick up spot... which goes down as a cancellation ... you get charged. It took me 20 min to try to hail another cab when the driver did this... because the application looked like someone already accepted the job! I have used them many times... it is hit and miss.. I have had nice reliable drivers and scammers. Just beware... they have changed the rate rules recently! read more

I am a VIP customer of Uber that uses them almost daily. I have great service history and have always been treated well or the issue was resolved. Tonight my family and I were leaving dinner on E Pine in Seattle when one driver never showed, then the driver that did arrive proceeded to pull away as I was loading my 4month old into the back seat of his SUV running over my foot as he did it. I had to pound on the side window and yell to get his attention. Uber has no numbers to call and no easy way to deal with problems like this. I should have called the police, but on a rain soaked night I decided to get my family home was the better priority. Unless uber starts a customer service phone service I will never take my family in one again. read more

I waited 30 minutes at SeaTac while other riders got rides. My driver never moved from his location 7 mins away. Each time I cancelled to get another driver, Uber charged me $5 and assigned me the same driver as before. It's now after midnight. I can't get a hold of anyone at Uber despite using their app and asking them to call me. This is why people use Lyft. Done with Uber. read more

I used UberX for the first time, traveling from SeaTac Airport Arrivals to home. The Good The driver picked me up quickly, the car was clean, the ride was pleasant, he followed the most efficient and quickest route, and drove safely. I gave him a cash tip and gave him a 5-star review. The Bad Uber charged my credit card a second time for an additional $1.50 with a comment that the driver stated there was "a problem" and that they hoped I would understand (no more detail than that). I didn't understand so I contacted Uber support twice asking to explain what the problem was. Both times they simply reiterated what the note said without providing an explanation of what problem they thought I should be paying for. Frustrated, I called my credit card company and contested the charge. I know it was only $1.50 but they can't just go about charging my credit card without my approval or giving me a valid explanation. It's a scam as far as I'm concerned. I'm a reasonable person and if they would have told me what the "problem" was, I probably would have let it go. This experience really left a bad impression on me. I am not using Uber again. read more
