    Steak frites
    Shanelle S.

This was a highly recommended restaurant in Glasgow so my friends and I came here for dinner on a weekday. We made a reservation in advance. Getting into the restaurant as a bit confusing (there's a bar on the bottom and you'll need to go up the stairs to enter the restaurant. We shared dishes family style but noticed other people had individual dishes. We ordered the following: - Burrata - the burrata was very fresh and the blistered tomato's were yummy - Calamari - rather on the small side, but the batter was light and crunchy - Falafel - I thought I'd like this more, but the falafel was a tad dry - Steak frites - a good plate to share if you're wanting some red meat, but not wanting to be too unhealthy - Mac and cheese - I can't get enough of dairy in the UK and this dish was no exception Service was on the slow side and we had to follow up multiple times to get water refills. The ambiance is really nice and bright. Washrooms are available by the bar area. It's a good spot for a corporate meal or a date night.

First time here was 30+ years ago, and from then to now the place has gotten both bigger and better. Great food, inventive, authentic, and oh so flavorful. Ask for a lemon or orange zest on your affogato, you won't be disappointed.

Tucked behind the bustle on Ashton Lane, enjoy something uniquely Ubiquitous. The downstairs dining room wasn't available so we ended up in a way better spot upstairs. Of course I was here with all the ladies who began taking pics of all the greenery, because rooftop dining in the rainy season here is an arboretum with great food. The rest were busy splitting a bottle of white while I enjoyed the Local Chip, which of course was exclusively brewed for this place. There are a few other UK locals if interested. The charcuterie was decadent yet different, featuring chilled shellfish, and they pulled it off. We skipped the small plates but gnudi and venison were tempting (besides it's "Chip's own"). As with the wine, this group seems to like similar stuff, so two got seabass and loved it. I was going Bavette steak all the way, and it was a solid choice. You'll also find some nice vegetarian dishes along the way. Somewhere in there they talked themselves into bottle #2, and why not? Affogatto does nicely for a pseudo dessert, and of course the sharers shared some lemon & poppyseed cake. Don't worry about missing out on menu items if you're upstairs either, because you'll have virtually the same choices. Great service and memorable eating made the evening go by too quickly. We'll hopefully return quickly.

Last dinner in Glasgow and it was great. Had the Bouillabaisse and BF had the Sea Bass with Lentils. Decent portions and both were between 21-23 pounds. Great atmosphere and staff were attentive.

I came for dinner on a Monday night. It was very busy, and I was glad I had made a reservation. It was a little tricky to figure out where to go to find my table. The part of the restaurant I reserved a table was in the upstairs area. When I arrived, I went upstairs. There wasn't any servers in sight so I stood there for about 10 minutes before I finally found a server and asked where I should go for my reserved table. The server was nice and gave me recommendations from the menu. The black bean and chickpea burger was on the bland side and was incredibly dry. The rhubarb and custard was excellent. Tangy, creamy and sweet. I think if I were to come here again, I'd book a table at a different part of the restaurant.

On a cold February afternoon in 2020, before the world came to a standstill, we visited UK and enjoyed a light lunch, scotch and gin at Ubiquitous. We sat up in the mezzanine , enjoying the ambience. I forget what we ate, but recall it was very nice. The scotch flight I had and the gin flight my wife had were amazing. The pleasant memory I have of this place albeit with the detail faded, is testament to the greatness of the place. Recommended and I'll visit again when I can. Slainte!

The location is a bit quirky, but the food was amazing. It was one of the best meals I have had all year. Service was impeccable and lovely ambiance.

Quite simply I think this is the best restaurant in all of Scotland! Not only does it have a fine dining restaurant, but it has a casual upstairs bistro, and a pub, you really can't go wrong! This restaurant in this whole area of Ashton Lane was recommended to us by some friends from Scotland... This whole area is really great so spend the evening here and pop into a couple spots. This should be your spot for dinner 100%. We initially made a reservation in the high end dining room, but after looking at the prices and realizing we were in the mood for more casual and quicker dinner, we asked to switch upstairs to the bistro. They were happy to accommodate which was very nice. We had a very nice mix of lots of different food, they have a lot of different small sharing plates, as you can see from the pictures the presentation is incredible. The muscles were just amazing! The highlight though of the meal was the haggis... Something that can be done very terribly as a foreigner if you know what I mean... This was probably one of the best dishes I tasted on our trip, and obviously the best haggis I've ever had in my life. It's a 52 year old recipe and it does not disappoint, it basically tastes like the most perfectly seasoned ground up little bits of meat that have all the little gamey pieces and organ pieces that are interesting but not over the top. Served with purée of parsnips and potatoes and an incredible gravy that makes it just perfect. The highlight of our trip food wise!

Dessert of crowdie cheesecake- definitely a highlight and would recommend again

This place is gorgeous! Its definitely an experience to walk in here I loved all the indoor plants and the beautiful garden they created. They also had a fountain in the corner and the space is brightly lit since the roof is glass which lets in a lot of sunlight. They told me all the plants were real as well, and as a succulent lover, this place was my paradise! Great drinks, well mixed - i recommend the peach daiquiri. We got these to start. Haggis venison was outstanding and it comes with neeps and tatties, beautifully arrangled on the plate, I will say the portions are on the smaller side but if you're there for lunch its a good meal, dinner portions are larger they said. It is a little expensive for the price but just order more, you're paying for the space Dessert of crowdie cheese cake is showstopper and I highly recommend getting this if youre here. You can digest it by walking around ashton lane after that :) Great service- there is seating on top I recommend getting as high up to the skylight as you can but all the spaces in this restaurant are lovely. The staff is good and help with offering tourist recommendations as well as details on food presentation and helping with allergies Great bathrooms and lots of them so less waiting. Also uniquely spaced and interesting layout of the whole restaurant

Highly recommend. I had one evening in Glasgow and I am pretty sure I could not have picked a better spot to spend it. "Chip" is in a fun, lively alley. I recommend walking around the neighborhood first, and then checking out the different spaces of the restaurant itself before you are seated. I can't pick a favorite. The bars looked fun (especially the little bar), the rooftop was cozy and unique, the fine dining space looked beautiful, and the mezzanine, where I sat, was so unique and special. Drinks were good, and the food was great. The mussels were TO DIE FOR! A must-do in Glasgow.

Great food in a very lively restaurant in Glasgow.

Great service of delicious food in a classy setting. Your best bet for a great dinner in Glasgow.

I first came to UC back in 2015 and was awed and blown away. I certainly did enjoy the food here this time around, but I have also found other spots in Glasgow and Edinburgh that have comparable pricing but much more delicious tasting menus. I'd rate my experience here at 3.5 stars. The wine pairing was excellent. The wine alone tasted not as good as the accompanying wine with the matching dish. Service was superb. The Glasgow accent is thick and sometimes hard to make out what they're saying. The lad that served our wine knows a lot about wine! Would I return the next time I travel to Glasgow and Edinburgh? Who knows???? We shall see what the world looks like in 5+ years! I had a pleasant experience nonetheless b

As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

I tried the crispy fried calamari, hand diced king scallops, Stornoway black pudding croquettes, and Haggis Scotch Egg (my favorite), and then ordered the haggis carbonara (in honor of my Italian friend and colleague Adriano) as my main course. This was an inspired choice as I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though Adriano disapproved as they didn't make it "right!" Nobody else except me wanted dessert - I was curious about the traditional Cranachan (Scottish raspberries, whisky, cream and oats) - which looked delightful, but was more cloying than light and airy. I had the pleasure of attending a Christmas Lunch with my colleagues at this fine establishment. Everything was absolutely delicious. The vibe tho is grown up, serene and subdued in the best ways, the cream walls were dotted with beautiful abstract art in shades of grey, there was a large fireplace feature, soothing just audible music, fresh red roses on the table (it was valentines!) linen table cloths. It was beautiful and even though it was jumping it felt like a calm and soothing environment. The staff were exactly what you would expect from a restaurant like the Sister - delightful. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast...probably faster than it normally would be due to the date, having said that I never once felt rushed or harassed - the staff were just sharp and on the ball with clearing plates. The menu at the sisters is like a love letter to Scotland, it was loaded with haggis, black pudding, fish, venison, beef cheeks, clootie dumpling and puff candy. It was like head chef Jackie O'Donnell had stepped into my childhood and brought all those foods into the 21st century. I could very easily have chosen any dish on offer from each course, it's an utterly lush menu. In the end I decided to try the haggis, neeps and tatties to start, I never took pictures of the menu so I forget the exact description of the dish. My first thought upon seeing my dish was wow! There was a puddle of glossy gravy, in the middle was a large haggis cake topped with neeps and a fritter....yes a freakin FRITTER!! I was beside myself as I am sure by now you know how I feel about fritters. The food was utterly gorgeous and without fault, the haggis was tasty and slightly spicy, the neeps were light and creamy, and the fritter was crisp and perfect. Gorgeous! For my main I finally decided on the Chicken breast with Stornoway black pudding, creamed leeks & a red wine jus with a side of Rooster tatties & market vegetables to share. Again visually it was so beautiful to look at. Taste wise it was amazing, the chicken was moist and tender, the creamed leeks still had bite and were seasoned to perfection, the big wedge of black pudding was soft and crumbly, the mash was silky and the red wine jus was lush and decedent. The side was also a triumph - the roasted potatoes were crispy golden nuggets of joy and the veg was incredibly tasty, I even liked the broccoli (I hate broccoli) but I loved however they cooked it. After all that food dessert was touch and go for a while, but there was no way I could leave without trying the Puff candy meringue with honeycomb, ice cream & hot butterscotch sauce. Now lets not kid ourselves this dish it basically a plate of sugar in various forms.....but boy what a plate of sugar it was. The puff candy meringue was light and delicate, the honeycomb was crunchy and sweet and the butterscotch sauce was thick and creamy. This dessert is as good as desserts get. It was a stunning gift from the sugar gods! All in all a pretty exceptional meal and up there with the best I have eaten in Glasgow without question. There's a few reasons for that, and while I'm sure there's just something to the atmosphere that's impossible to quantify, these are the things that I think give it at least part of its charm. 1. The whisky. They have a huge selection and they're easily the best place to come for whisky in Finnieston, although most of the bars around here have a few bottles on offer. They staff are very knowledgeable about it, without being snobbish or pushy, and at quieter times are happy to make recommendations and to chat to you about their favourites. 2. It's small. Not in a cramped way but in a cosy way. You can sometimes struggle for a table but it's the kind of place where you feel OK about sharing tables with strangers. The regulars are friendly and are happy for you to pull up a chair 3. When there's music it's fiddles, usually being played by those friendly regulars. I saw an accordion there once but usually it's fiddles being played and being played well - they tend to get involved with the Celtic Connections music festival. 4. It's dog friendly. There's usually one or two dogs running around and the staff are happy to provide a bowl of water for them. So there you have it.
