My phone went dark. The screen went dark, that is. I called several repair shops, and no one could help me. I Googled UBreakiFix locations. I came across this establishment. Although they were backed up with orders, the nice employee accepted my need and allowed me to bring in my phone. My phone was repaired within a couple of hours. Although the total cost was $324, I accepted the cost due to needing my phone. It's so sad that I was dependent on my phone working; like I couldn't function without it. I gave this establishment 5 stars because they repaired my phone where others couldn't. If I ever have another phone problem, I'll definitely return to their shop. read more

Being generous with the extra star. I called ahead of time and spoke with Jay or Jacob. I explained I had a Gen 1 Microsoft Surface Book and the battery was swelling and splitting the case. He was unsure about the parts so I looked up the battery for it and gave him the part number. It was about $30-$50. He appreciated the effort, quoted me $150 to get the job done and said to bring it by so they could log it in. I live in Dripping Springs so I told him I'd make time to get it over to them as they were about an hour's drive from me. The next day I get the laptop to their storefront. A guy at the desk looked over the laptop and brought it to the back. He came back and said his manager was going to quote $250. I let the front desk person know that the price quoted was $100 less. He replied that Jacob was "just a tech" and that his manager's price was what they'd honor. I asked for his manager's name and was told it was Joaquin. I wasn't too happy about the "bait and switch" they just pulled on me but they already had me all the way across town at that point in time. I felt like a chump. The front desk person was having trouble getting the laptop logged in to their computer system and had his manager "Joaquin" come to the front to help him. Joaquin wouldn't even look at me or say hello or even acknowledge my presence. I just stood there quietly. I never said one word to this person. I was feeling like this guy was gouging me on the price and that I also felt that he knew full well that $200 was him being way overcompensated, possibly personally, for a battery replacement. Joaquin just snubbed me, turned his back on me and then walked away. I asked Front Desk Person if I would be getting a detailed receipt showing the amount I paid for the battery and how much they were charging me for labor. He told me no. I would receive a receipt for the full price to include labor and parts. Of course this obscures what I'm paying for labor and parts. No mention of going through insurance or anything else. Front Desk Person just kept his eyes focused downward. The guilt at what they were doing was evident. He also proceeded to charge me $60 + tax for an "advanced non-mobile troubleshooting fee totaling $64.94. He said that was just in case I failed to pick up my laptop. What in corn-dog hell? I'm already feeling like a fool getting fleeced and they're just sticking it in and twisting it now. So, I need the laptop and the swollen battery is a fire hazard so I'll go ahead and let them pluck me like a chicken. I paid the $65 and I will pay the rest of their fees IN A MONTH which was the time they said that they could have it ready by. But I will never recommend them to anyone ever. This was a classic BAIT AND SWITCH where everything is all rosy and positive until I (the patsy in this crime drama) makes his drive out to get the job done and then gets stuck with an astronomically high bill after the fact with a take it or leave it attitude. I really wanted to like this place. The price seemed good at first, and I was excited because they looked like a more affordable option. But honestly... I'm very disappointed with both the quality of the work and the customer service. They repaired my laptop, but they ordered the wrong part the first time, which pushed back the whole repair. They only offer a one-year warranty and immediately try to upsell you on their monthly insurance plan. Fast-forward about 1.5 years: my battery completely died. I called the store and was told there was "nothing they could do," even though the replacement battery was pricey. My speakers also don't sound great, but at the time I let it slide because they were at least better than when I brought it in. The customer service was the worst part. The associate quickly brushed me off and told me to call the insurance company. The insurance company then told me they couldn't help me either. After playing phone tag, their rep finally told me the store was wrong and that the store was actually the one who should be helping me. The back-and-forth was ridiculous, and the manager offered no real support. Overall, I spent good money and got poor quality work, zero accountability, and a runaround when I tried to ask about warranty. For the price, I will not be returning. read more

I brought my iPhone 15 Plus to the Southpark Meadows uBreakiFix for a screen repair. Technician Jacob K. offered me an Apple OEM or cheaper third-party screen. I chose the third-party screen, but I was never told it would permanently disable Face ID or potentially damage my phone's camera, keyboard, or cause blackouts. When I picked up the phone, it immediately showed a "Display Not Recognized" warning, Face ID was grayed out, the camera was blurry, and the keyboard typed wrong letters. Jacob gave conflicting explanations -- first saying Face ID might have been broken from the crack, then saying third-party screens don't support Face ID -- none of which were disclosed upfront. Later, my phone started blackouts and other glitches. I returned the next day and spoke with manager Joaquin Zarate. He told me the only way to get a refund was to reinstall my old cracked screen, which could cause more damage, and that I would have to wait 3 more hours. He refused to authorize an OEM repair or a proper refund. The phone is worse than before, and the store failed to properly disclose risks or resolve the damage. I cannot recommend this location due to unsafe repairs, poor customer service, and unprofessional management. read more

They then call 2 hours later saying they broke something else on my phone and had to fix and order that part. It would come in on Tuesday. They didn't talk me into some useless repair, just so they could make $. They looked at my phone, told me that according to them, nothing needed to be done, and they showed me why I need not waste my $. (I rarely get people telling me this). Most of the time, I don't, and I am willing to bet, that you don't either. This is why I now will go back here for all my repair needs, (phone, computer, etc). After using this company for SEVERAL issues with my screens in the past. I came in after a faulty screen they used to repair my phone fell off and broke. Seeing I have never had issues with them before, I thought I could call and they'd rectify the situation. To my surprise they refused to even look at it before saying I had to pay full price for a replacement. Seeing I did not want to have the same issue, I took it to another company who alerted me the part they used was subpar and it detached from the frame of the equipment and that shouldn't have happened. I called three times in total, because I'm having phone issues (shock!) and wasn't sure if it was my phone that was the problem. They have this terrific policy of only charging if they can fix your device. That's why I chose this repair service after I dropped my 2012 macbook pro. Unfortunately it was unsalvageable, but I was more worried about retrieving my data. They were able to salvage most of it and provided great service, although it did take a few weeks to diagnose and retrieve the data. They also charge $150 for this service but provided a $50 discount since not all of the data was retrieved. I'll definitely come back (although hopefully not too soon haha) Update! What computer repair place doesn't have charge cables to test laptops that come in to see what the problem is? I'm supposed to wait for them to order another charging cord and then see if that works? My partner's phone was losing charge below 50% quickly, and we were traveling, which was presenting a large problem for us with regard to navigation. The owner of this franchise location is a LIAR and cannot be trusted. I gave Aaron Gallegos 1x80GB ipod and 1x120GB ipod to replace Hard drive and battery on July 24, 2017. He told me that "it will be ready in 3-5 days"... I called on Aug 5, 2017 which is 12 days later and he said he meant 3-5 "business days" which is fine since i had already waited for 10 business days...he then said that he "doesnt own the transportation providers and has no control over when they will deliver. your options are to come and collect your ipods as is or we can fix it when the parts get here"....yep...thats the tone and customer service you can expect from his store. on Aug 8, 2017 I got a call saying that both my ipods were ready for pick up. When I went to go pick them up I noticed that instead of getting back 1 x 80GB and 1 x 120GB ipod, i got both ipods with 80GB hard drive. I told the employee that this was an error so he called the owner Aaron Gallegos and Aaron asked his employee to tell me "i distinctly remember telling you that the 120GB hard drive costs 2x - 3x more than the 80 GB and so we agreed on replacing both with 80GB"...a CLEAR LIE as that was NEVER even discussed (you'll see how I prove that later). I told the employee that I wanted to talk to the owner Aaron Gallegos, so he called and spoke to Aaron and was advised by Aaron to tell me that he was not available to talk about this issue...yes while he was talking to his employee!!! At this point to prove that the owner of this South Austin location, Aaron Gallegos was a flat out LIAR, I asked him to quote me the price of the alleged 120 GB that is "2x - 3x times higher than 80GB" and to my surprise he gave me an estimate that is 4x and it did not include labor... This is how i know Aaron Gallos is a liar...I called two other ubreakifix locations in Austin and asked them to quote the exact work I had asked Aaron Gallegos to do. THEY BOTH QUOTED ME JUST $10 MORE FOR 120GB VS WHAT AARON GALLEGOS QUOTED ME FOR 80GB BECAUSE AS PER BOTH OF THOSE STORES "HARD DRIVES PRICES ARE DIRT CHEAP TODAY AND NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE, FOR $10 MORE YOU CAN REPLACE YOUR 80GB HARD DRIVE WITH 120GB." THIS IS ABOUT $160 LESS THAN WHAT AARON QUOTED ME AFTER HE WAS CAUGHT IN A LIE. If only he had admitted that he messed up and it was an error that he would fix, i'd be ok. stuff happens. BUT TO FLAT OUT LIE AND QUOTE A 6X PRICE FOR SOMETHING THAT ONLY COSTS $10 MORE MAKES ME SERIOUSLY QUESTION HIS WORK ETHIC!!! I'm seriously in awe of how nice my iPhone screen looks! It looks like it just came out if the box. Came in for a cracked screen. Guys were super helpful. They even checked to make sure there wasn't anything else wrong with it (i.e. speaker, microphone, buttons, etc). Left it for an hour while I went to get Starbucks next door and answer emails on my iPad. They convinced me to get the tempered glass screen protector, which comes with a 2 year warranty, so if the protector and/or the screen gets cracked, they'll be able to replace them for free at any location nationwide. The new screen protector is SO nice. I can't even see it! So shiny and sleek and well applied compared to my old cheap one. All together, the new screen was $97.41 after tax. With the tempered glass protector, it came out to $140.70 after tax. Well worth it. read more

[Regarding experience with South Austin store] Dropped my iPad Pro off for screen repair on May 22. Still don't have it back (23 days later). First repair allegedly failed due to issues with Touch ID sensor. Second repair allegedly brought about different issues which required them to send it off to a master solderer in Louisiana. They said (on a Friday) that solderer would have it by Monday (since they were overnighting over a weekend), but I called the following Thursday and they told me "the [solderer] just got it [that day]." Another week passes with no progress and no return of the iPad Pro to their store from the vendor/solderer. So I start pressing hard, only to get a "guarantee" of it being ready for me to pick up today by 7PM close of business, only to find that they still don't even have the device back from the solderer... AND THEY STILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE SCREEN on the device with a now-fixed motherboard. Worst customer experience in a long time. I love my tech tools; I rely on my tech tools; I take care of my tech tools when they break. I am very frustrated with uBreakiFix, I won't ever rely on them again, and I hope they learn how to take care of their customers one day. read more
