Have some concerns about repair, but I think they were quick and to the point on short notice. Comparable rates with other businesses.

It's pretty fast service, the prices are also fairly good as well, can't complain about the place, they also do iPhones and Samsung's.

Fixed the charging port on my iPad Pro 6th gen…read more The 6th gen iPad Pro has a flimsy but expensive screen that needs to be removed to replace the port. So many repair shops either didn't want to bother or quoted a ridiculous, "eff-off" price just to send a message that they didn't want to work on them. He did not. Very knowledgeable and friendly "nerd" owner with a great, customer-oriented attitude. And he underpriced the competition by almost half! (My suspicion is that the others break a lot of screens doing this repair, so they build in the cost of making a mistake into their price; whereas he is careful enough and uses methods to not break the screen so as to not need to build the cost of his mistakes into the price.) FWIW, I have high standards, sometimes think I know too much, and can ask too many questions. Mike indulged me on all questions regarding a simple iPad repair and then some. (Other repair shops didn't want to talk about their methods or ideas). Cleaned my iPhone port for free, too! Very good communication of the risks and options for the iPad repair. I recommend them very highly to my friends, and now to you.

The guys at Free CheckFix took my problem in stride and found a way to get my printer to communicate with my computer. When returning home with my working system I was trying to shut the truck door while holding the brother laser and promptly dropped the printer on the driveway and trashed it. Mark and David found a new Brother Laser and a new CPU that could run windows 11 and together they were cheaper than what I paid for the old laser printer. The prices were low, service high and attitude was positive ............... I'm very lucky I discovered them

Although they were backed up with orders, the nice employee accepted my need and allowed me to bring in my phone. My phone was repaired within a couple of hours. Although the total cost was $324, I accepted the cost due to needing my phone. It's so sad that I was dependent on my phone working; like I couldn't function without it. I gave this establishment 5 stars because they repaired my phone where others couldn't. If I ever have another phone problem, I'll definitely return to their shop.

Being generous with the extra star. I called ahead of time and spoke with Jay or Jacob. I explained…read moreI had a Gen 1 Microsoft Surface Book and the battery was swelling and splitting the case. He was unsure about the parts so I looked up the battery for it and gave him the part number. It was about $30-$50. He appreciated the effort, quoted me $150 to get the job done and said to bring it by so they could log it in. I live in Dripping Springs so I told him I'd make time to get it over to them as they were about an hour's drive from me. The next day I get the laptop to their storefront. A guy at the desk looked over the laptop and brought it to the back. He came back and said his manager was going to quote $250. I let the front desk person know that the price quoted was $100 less. He replied that Jacob was "just a tech" and that his manager's price was what they'd honor. I asked for his manager's name and was told it was Joaquin. I wasn't too happy about the "bait and switch" they just pulled on me but they already had me all the way across town at that point in time. I felt like a chump. The front desk person was having trouble getting the laptop logged in to their computer system and had his manager "Joaquin" come to the front to help him. Joaquin wouldn't even look at me or say hello or even acknowledge my presence. I just stood there quietly. I never said one word to this person. I was feeling like this guy was gouging me on the price and that I also felt that he knew full well that $200 was him being way overcompensated, possibly personally, for a battery replacement. Joaquin just snubbed me, turned his back on me and then walked away. I asked Front Desk Person if I would be getting a detailed receipt showing the amount I paid for the battery and how much they were charging me for labor. He told me no. I would receive a receipt for the full price to include labor and parts. Of course this obscures what I'm paying for labor and parts. No mention of going through insurance or anything else. Front Desk Person just kept his eyes focused downward. The guilt at what they were doing was evident. He also proceeded to charge me $60 + tax for an "advanced non-mobile troubleshooting fee totaling $64.94. He said that was just in case I failed to pick up my laptop. What in corn-dog hell? I'm already feeling like a fool getting fleeced and they're just sticking it in and twisting it now. So, I need the laptop and the swollen battery is a fire hazard so I'll go ahead and let them pluck me like a chicken. I paid the $65 and I will pay the rest of their fees IN A MONTH which was the time they said that they could have it ready by. But I will never recommend them to anyone ever. This was a classic BAIT AND SWITCH where everything is all rosy and positive until I (the patsy in this crime drama) makes his drive out to get the job done and then gets stuck with an astronomically high bill after the fact with a take it or leave it attitude. Oh, I'll pay your fees but you've made an enemy out of me. Never again.

It was such a positive experience exactly the kind of helpful, no-stress service that makes you want to support a local shop. He's a great person and clearly loves what he does. I'll definitely be back if I need anything electronics-related and will be recommending them to friends!

He had no idea how to find it! Even after reading it he couldn't figure it out. I ended up finding it. I needed a new keyboard because many of my keys were sticking/broken from the laptop being dropped during moving. I picked up my laptop a week later, and unfortunately didn't test the keyboard in the store. I don't use it much and didn't test it right away. A couple weeks later when I used it, I noticed the keys were uneven and felt off. The lighted keyboard also didn't work (it worked when I dropped it off). I took it back in when Gordon was working (different guy than the one on Sunday). What a horrible, unprofessional and smartass employee!! WOW!!!!!! I've had have my own business for over 30 years.......I couldn't imagine treating a customer like he treated me. He insinuated and basically accused me of spilling something on my keyboard. Pressure on keys were still uneven and backlight on my keyboard didn't work. Whomever installed it obviously didn't reconnect.....so now I type with a dark keyboard at night. Yes, I became angry and was appalled at his narcissistic and accusatory attitude. Asked me what the "residue" was on my keyboard. I walked out with my computer so fast and so mad and insulted.......NOTHING WAS SPILLED ON MY COMPUTER, GORDON!! It was their shoddy work and incompetency to install a keyboard that still isn't right!! He was absolutely disgusting to deal with. What a horrible representation of this business. I did call the Austin stores to share the story. According to the Austin stores, they're not connected, but students at Texas State should be warned about the quality of the San Marcos store.
