Formal Customer Complaint I arrived at ubreakifix at 6:45 p.m., while the store was still open and scheduled to close at 7:00 p.m. There were two customers ahead of me who were waiting to pick up their phones. When it was my turn, I informed the person working there at the time by the name if Jose that I wanted to purchase the $40 phone protection plan and only had a quick question regarding what the coverage included. Before I could ask my question, Jose told me that he "didn't have time" to answer it. His overall demeanor made it seem as though he was in a rush to get everyone out of the store before closing. I explained that I already knew which protection plan I wanted to purchase and only needed clarification on the coverage. I also assured him that my question would only take a moment. After that, he reluctantly allowed me to remain and complete the purchase. I later learned that he was trying to leave early so he could make an 8:00 p.m. movie. While I understand that employees have personal plans outside of work, customers who arrive during normal business hours should still be treated with professionalism, patience, and respect. I arrived before closing, knew exactly what I wanted to buy, and was simply asking a reasonable question about a product I was purchasing. I was disappointed by the interaction and felt that I was being rushed instead of assisted. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future customers receive the level of service they should expect during posted business hours. This review gets two stars because I understand we all have our bad days and those don't normally reflect who we are as people in the long run. Was having issue with not being able to charge my phone. They removed debris from charging port for a second time in last 4 years. I had removed most but still couldn't get my phone to charge. Still had some additional debris inside. They took it into back room and returned within 2 minutes. Charging fine. Not charged for removal. What a FANTASTIC experience! I had a broken screen that my insurance fixed through uBreakiFix. Bryan greeted me when I arrived and was so friendly. Went in to have a battery replaced in a phone for free through insurance. Had issues with continuously rebooting and over heating after replacement. Brought it back and was told I needed to file another claim with my carrier . Filing another claim on the same issue resulted in having to get a new phone with a 270 dollar deductible. Who refuses to take money for helping a customer? IAN the manager of this U Break I Fix office does. I'm a MAC guy from way back and have my own ways of moving around on the keyboard. Well a Used MAC I bought on Amazon was not responding (to me and my old habits) so I brought it in for repair. IAN explained I should do a certain something on the track pad and it would work fine. So it was "user error" and not anything broken. I was willing to pay for his time but he refused to take a dime. If they are this honest for little stuff I imagine they are honest in other ways.. The scenario: I had an old 2012 macbook pro which was kept in pristine condition up until its death in 2021. A water bottle was accidently knocked over and the water accumulated on the keyboard and vents within the Mac laptop I owned. Unfortunately, the apple store was not able to fix water damaged laptops aged 9-10 years according to the apple genius customer support. They said they only fix the newer laptops as opposed to what they call vintage. This surprised me because I thought they deal everything apple. Apparently their advice is just buy a new laptop and then buy the SSD card reader and other dongles and adapters and an additional fee for apple care. It appears they just want to grab my money and could care less about the customer although it appears to be the solution. Next, I go to Best Buy, who had their crew called "geek squad". These are known to be one of the best geeky techs you could find. Unfortunately they don't do repairs on water damage or they didn't know how to fix liquid from pouring into the laptop. This was also surprising, they recommended for me to go to Sherman oaks which is 25 - 30 min away from location and get it looked at. The problem was, this place was a scam as well. The only other options were the third party repair shops of which only are available during specific times in the week but also a few of them wanted to charge me additional fees for a diagnoses. So, limited availability and fees were a problem because I was limited on time and didn't think the fees for the diagnoses was worth it. So, my last resort was ubreakifix. I didn't originally think this place repairs computers which is why it was a last resort. I thought they fixed only phones at least from the pictures and some other reviews. Also, I didn't receive a message from the owner Neil for a couple days because I thought they were closed. They weren't closed, however; the employees were inside but the times were not updated online so it was a little confusing. I spoke with Roy who was the tech representative inside who had good communication skills. The two back technicians Ian and Jose I spoke with over the phone. At first, I spoke to Ian who was pleasant and an expert at computers, especially Macintosh. He did a free diagnoses and apparently the water did a significant amount of damage to the motherboard and internal RAM chips. The hardrive was burnt and corroded only after 1 day. That is insane! I didn't think a bottled water could completely destroy my computer even when I did all the safety precautions by removing the charging cable, drying the laptop and also turning the laptop off with putting the laptop upside down to prevent the water from damaging other parts internally. Ian originally planned and promised me to purchase this SSD reader and quoted $250 which is pretty expensive unless I purchased this 24.99$ homeplus subscription which is their insurance policy for vintage computers. I decided to just pay the 250$. When I called again 2 days later when ups did a two day shipping of the SSD reader, Ian did not arrive which worried me because I needed to turn in this paper that was due the next day. Luckily, Jose the other technician was able to deal with this issue and set up the chip into the reader. It pains me that I needed to purchase a new compatible MacBook as well but it was the only way they could transfer the data from the original damaged macbook that was approaching 10 years of age to the newer one. This water damage was one of the worst conditions that could occur to a laptop. I was dumbfounded by this atrocious issue. Anyway, Jose handled the situation accordingly and told me to bring in the new MacBook immediately to import the data. When I arrived, I didn't see Jose, I saw Roy at the front who dealt with transferring the data. He helped me recover most of the files very quickly. Unfortunately they couldn't recover Microsoft office and minitab software which I had to buy again. They were not cheap, but they recovered all my files from the SSD reader as best they could. The whole process was a nightmare but I'm glad they were able to fix this problem as opposed to all the chaos of trying to find someone to deal with this liquid damage. Neil the owner did a great job of communicating quickly although he did not message me back as fast as the other businesses. Roy was able to deduct some of the labor cost of the original 250$ because some files did not properly transfer which I think is fair. The customer service of Jose, Roy and Neil were very strong. The team here at ubreakifix is great. If I have an issue with older products that are broken I consider coming here as they are available. read more

I called in for a quote and time estimate for a repair of an iPhone 13 rear glass. I was quoted 2 hours. Upon arrival, my estimate for time needed to complete the repair was changed to 5 hours because the manager said lasers were going to be used for restoration. I didn't have time to complete that day and was irritated that the quote was so much longer. I returned 2 days later with a 5 hour block of time and was now being quoted an 8 hour repair time. I ended up taking my phone a few blocks away to a place called Phone Heaven and received prompt service (2 hour repair) and the repair cost half the price of what this business quoted me.
