Wow, wow, wow & this review is only based on happy hour menu which is basically smaller portions of the regular menu. Very laid back ambiance, our server J was really helpful in explaining their menu, & the rest of the support staff was very detailed in clearing off our table and refreshing our plates at the right time. The foie gras gunkan and the hama chili were my absolute favorite but the chicken yakitori, wagyu yakitori, the crispy rice were also very good. I didn't really like either of the desserts on the happy hour menu but will def be going back for a full meal soon! read more

So, I got delivery from Uber Eats. I always appreciate it when higher end restaurants sign up for delivery. I do want to make it into the restaurant sometime soon and enjoy the full experience, but, life gets busy. So for now, i was happy to be able to get a sneak peak from home tonight after work. The sushi was very good. Excellent quality and very fresh (even on a Monday!....which can be iffy sometimes with fish). I had the tuna roll plus some assorted sashimi. The reason for deducting a star may sound petty, but it's a pet peeve of mine. I believe that high end sushi restaurants should provide real wasabi, and fresh ginger. I got the fake wasabi in the plastic packet (i.e. horseradish died green). And ginger in a plastic packet as well. Not the end of the world, and I don't think twice about it when I get it from a run-of-the-mill sushi joint. But I've always felt like restaurants that consider themselves upper caliber (and at this price point) should set themselves apart in the smaller things too-- and that means real wasabi. That being said, the food was good and I still look forward to dining in one day soon. read more

Uchi was a next level experience tonight! Walking in you can already see the details in decor are spot on. The food followed suit. We made a reservation in the outside seating which was equally lovely as the inside and certainly felt COVID safe. We were welcomed by Dorothy, our lovely and gracious food guide for the evening! She was knowledgeable and helped us through the creative menu for our choices. She had tried everything on the menu so she truly had favorites already and was able to describe all the dishes with flavors in detail. I can not say enough about having such an amazing server as most Miami restaurants fall short with this part! We had multiple dishes and I can say the quality of ingredients and the level of fish quality was computable if that I had all over Japan. The creativity of the combinations in each dish were so delicate and scrumptious I could barely refrain from licking each plate. We had the Hama chili yellowtail, hot rock waygu , kimono nabe, bluefin akami crudo, short rib sofrito, Brussel sprouts, shag roll, and for dessert fried milk and warm banana cake! Each one was outstanding! Chef Tyson Cole's passion is evident in every dish prepared with such excellence! I hope this treasure can keep the bar thus elevated. This is a must go and ask for Dorothy. I've been twice and both times I've done the chef's selection omakase. For a fat@$$ like myself, the cuts and portions are on the small side. But it's soooooo good. This spot does a really great job at adding tangy-ness and that Latin "flare" to the Japanese cuisine. Dorothy was literally the BEST server! She was such a sweetheart. The second time I went service was kinda slow. We figured it was because it was packed so we didn't say anything. In the beginning I think the kitchen forgot our dishes or something but Dorothy literally went above and beyond to make sure the rest of our dining experience was excellent. Our experience there was going down hill just because of the pacing but she literally brought it back to life, which says a lot about her personality and customer service skills. My boyfriend and I ordered so much to eat, yet did not feel bloated when we left. I highly recommend the Uchi salad for starters, and the halibut as one of the many excellent choices on their menu. Let me start off by saying this is my favorite restaurant I've ever been to. Not only is the food the best I've ever had but also the service here tops any where else I've been. The employees here take special care in making sure that you don't forget how good it is. I have to give special thanks to Jeremy at the sushi bar who made what was already such an amazing experience even better. This is my second time dining with him and it was amazing to say the least. I also have to mention Brad, Dan, and Kristine for all their hard work in making this place stand apart from anywhere else. Some of my favorite dishes I've had here are the Uchi salad, zero sen makimono , Hamachilli, edamame, 72 hour short rib, and the kinoko that was recommended to me by Jeremy. And to finish it off with my favorite desert I've ever had is the Fried milk as well as the Jasmine cream. These are just a few of the delicious offerings they have here and I can't explain how good the flavors are. I brought my mom here to try and she describes it as a "Uchi Heaven". We were so excited to try this place but our experience was not at all what we expected. The waiter was very very nice. Half of the dishes were good (like the wagyu) but the other half were tasteless. We were confused as to how it's even possible that some sauces taste like " nothing ". I asked for soya sauce to try to give some taste to one of the rolls. Many dishes were not available because happy hour was over. The reason my review is so bad is that we ordered 6-7 dishes and left the restaurant very hungry after eating 175$ of food with no drinks. The portion are tiny. We went to eat again 30 mins after leaving. We eat in restaurants 3-4 night a week and tried everything in Miami. We won't be going back to this one. read more

Our sons gifted us with a pretty large gift card for a birthday to dine at Uchi because they were both big fans, and we were not disappointed. After being stuck in traffic we arrived a bit frazzled but were warmly welcomed at the host station and promptly shown to a lovely corner booth by the window. Rather than detail how great everything was let me just say WOW. Highlights were the Oysters with chili oil and crunchy shreds of sweet potato (we had to order 6 more and my wife isn't that much of an oyster fan, but these... Amazing "flowers" of Sea Bream and Asian pear in a citrusy sauce, Chicken thigh yakatori, best I've had since a teenage friend's Japanese mom used to make them for us for lunch! Of course the nigiri (Salmon and Tuna) were faultless and I could just go on and on. And most of these were on happy hour! (Daily 5-6:30PM) We both enjoyed the Hai Noon Old Fashions although my only quibble would be that the drinks and wine were pretty expensive ($19.00 per) although they do offer some happy hour specials. We don't have much left on our gift card but we can't wait to use it next time! read more

The waitress brought over two dishes for us to try, as a gift from the restaurant which was beyond nice of them. They brought us a short rib nigiri that just melted in our mouths and had great flavor, and I'm not the biggest fan of red meat. The salmon sake makimono was amazing, tasted just like a bagel and lox. The crab maki (I forgot the name of the roll) was also amazing. Other delicious dishes included the walu walu and Hama chili. As far of desserts go, these were outrageous and unique. The banana cake was ridiculous, with icecream that laid on top of a delicious caramel sauce and a type of cookie crumbs. I am not a huge banana fan, but I would order this 100 times again. The fried milk dessert included fried balls of milk (sounds weird but was so yummy) and icecream that laid on top of a chocolate mousse. The icecream sandwich was also very good. I will be returning back very soon and was blown away by this restaurant. It is difficult to get a reservation unless you book in advance, so don't sit on this place! read more
