This is by far one of the biggest and best campus bookstores I've seen. Now, ignoring the fact that the actually text books are a ripoff (what campus doesn't rip you off with those??), the rest of this huge, beautiful store is pretty impressive. They have more UCLA gear than you will ever imagine, or need for that fact- you can literally outfit your entire family from head to toe (even the baby!). There are also sections with non-UCLA clothing, a shoe store, an entire wing for electronics/computers, and a mini version of Barnes and Noble (which really isn't that mini!). Did I mention the grocery store section? And the Hallmark-type card and gift section? Seriously, if you are a UCLA student, you never have to leave campus. EVER. Of course the store is a little pricier than say, Target, but it's super convenient and totally worth it. read more

Alma Mater, I am in agonizing pain that I have to give anything associated with you one star, but that's the situation that we're in. When obsessive alumni eager to spend lots of money on UCLA gear stop by to do just that.......be open. Don't close randomly and for no apparent reason, and have new hours typed out and taped to the door. It's tacky and it makes me not want to donate. And it put me in a horrible mood for the rest of the day b/c there are very very few things that I like more than leaving Ackerman with multiple bags of UCLA crap. read more

As an alumnus, I was surprised to find it hasn't changed after all of these years. Great selection, great shopping experience. Students who work there are friendly and helpful. My complaints have to do with apparel selection and the designers who develop the products. The store, as the designated purveyor of UCLA branded goods, should: 1) provide gear that is consistent with the school's brand and 2) provide a wider selection of gear. On my first point, there is just simply too much stuff that doesn't adhere to the true blue and gold colors of the school. Moreover, many of the items do not have a consistent logo or typeface. I'm looking for gear to wear on game days and I found myself limited in my choices for items that were true blue or put-off by stuff that looks like it should belong in Cal's student store. On my second point, I found gear at other online stores that I couldn't find at the store...shouldn't you guys sell EVERYTHING related to UCLA? Among the stuff that was available elsewhere was Adidas team apparel (the stuff that the athletes themselves might wear) and bunch of stuff that, frankly, looked better than the stuff I found at the shop. I'd love to support my alma mater but since the selection was lacking I just opted to buy items elsewhere which is a shame. If the items stuck with the school's brand and was well-designed I'd easily spend my money at the store itself since I only live a few miles away but much of the stuff I found to be inappropriate for game day or just not as cool as stuff I found online. read more

Book store section, drop off your backpack/ bag, grab a number. Okay, check. There's ATM's for 3 banks right outside too... super convenient. The downstairs main section of the store is typical..lots of hello kitty stuff~ and also a market place~ and a "mainstream" bookstore~ and small tables to read your un-purchased (or purchased) books. read more

Yes! I love this store! I got a sweatshirt for only $20 here. I hate the fact that they don't have a clearance section for my friends who were down on their cash. I mean seriously, consider other people too! But anyways, I found pins, pens, pencils, and everything else. They had an ADIDAS custom made shoe for UCLA, wow. read more

The store is very clean and filled with Bruin spirit (which is wonderful). It has almost anything you would need to succeed in college: pens, notebooks, bluebook, etc. There is also a cosmetic department, technology zone, book zone, and mini market for snacks and toiletries. The only problem I have with this store is the tremendously high prices. Avoid getting anything non-Bruin here if you don't absolutely need it. And in addition to that tip, wait until there is a huge store-wide sale to buy your goods. There's always at least one sale in the beginning of the year, halloween, valentines, and the summer. read more

I purchased over $350 worth of UCLA clothes and hats online. One week later...they have a 20% off sale! I called them up to ask if my amount could be reduced accordingly. I asked this because I can often go to regular stores...like Target...and they will adjust the price if its within one week or two. But...not here! Crazy prices, of course (unless you hit up one of their crazy sales where everything is at least 20-25% off), but there is a great selection of clothes and other UCLA gear that is updated regularly. You can get all your school supplies here too and even computers, calculators and accessories because there is a huge selection. The textbook store is right upstairs and there is a regular bookstore downstairs with everything else. There is also a large section of dorm necessities and posters and stuff. There is a small "grocery" section too but those prices are ridiculous at all times of the year... The staff is friendly and helpful (mostly students) which is always nice. read more

I go to Ackerman everyday to use the elevator to go to class. I love browsing around the stuffed animal/card area. Normal everyday things are priced fairly well. However everything UCLA is sooooo expensive! Except when they have random sales and coupons. So, ALWAYS wait for sales/coupons. It will help save A LOT of money. Every time I buy a ucla hoodie or lanyard, I have used at least a 20% off coupon from when I bought books at the bookstore. Great items, but overpriced. read more

It has everything you need, but don't buy unless: 1. You absolutely need it now and can't buy a short walk away or on the internet. 2. You have a discount of some sort. The only thing you should buy from here is scantrons. Family gifts can be found half price in Westwood, books on Amazon, and posters at the halloween store. Don't be lazy. read more

This is a great store, even if you're not looking for UCLA gear. They have a bunch of gifts, books, clothing, some shoes, and makeup. The prices are really great too. I buy perfume and makeup (brand names) from here because they beat everyone's prices. They also have every UCLA clothing item you could possibly imagine with great prices and some clothing even have characters on them like Hello Kitty! You can also get tailgating gear, and items for sporting events. read more

Had a lot of great memories shopping in this place. Loved the sales and always bought a ton of clothes. My employee discount made the purchases even sweeter. Yes, things are pricier there. But it's definitely nice if you're in a pinch and need to buy a bluebook for your test and a card for a certain friend. If you really want a UCLA sweater, wait for the sale and get one then. If you are a small sized person, go early in the morning to get the best picks. read more

The UCLA store has almost anything you need, from stationary, snacks, new and used books, apparel, laptops, and even make up. The only thing is it's pricey. The discount books sections has a pretty wife variety of books though. That's a great aisle to peruse when in need of a good novel to read. read more

One of the best college bookstores I've been to. It's well stocked with all kinds of UCLA apparel, and it's huge. I think it's like 2 or 3 floors. I remember that there's a Jamba Juice in this store, which is pretty cool. I came in 2007, so they probably added a lot of new stuff since then. read more

I visit many college bookstores in my travels as a representative for Cooper-Product.Com. The one item many other college bookstores carry is the iSlip. The iSlip is a great microfiber cleaner for the iPad, Nook, or Kindle. Our company offered the Bruin Bookstore the iSlip in Bruin Blue with great graphics. To our amazement the Computer Dept Staff acted as if they were to busy to even hear our proposal. So the UCLA Bookstore may claim to have everything, but they don't have the the iSlip, arguably the best LCD screen cleaner on the market. Not yet anyway. read more

Don't order online! I ordered a Christmas gift on 12/1/14 and as of 12/17/14 had only received an email confirmation and receipt. When I logged onto their site to find out status it showed as canceled by them due to out of stock. They never notified me,instead just left me hanging to find out on my own when I went to check on it. Canceling an order should generate an email don't you think? I feel sorry for the students there. This is a review for the computer tech service at the UCLA Store. In general the UCLA Store has been good. Though it seems they have hired a few bad apples. Their tech service rep Julio said that they can't fix everything, otherwise no one would buy new things. That's a very shady thing to be saying as a tech service rep. There is lots of Bruin merchandise here, but the prices are disgusting. I would love to get a UCLA license plate frame, but it sure isn't worth $40+. I'd like to get an alumni shirt, but for over $50, forget it. I have been here a dozen times, but I just cannot bring myself to pay the high prices here. Do the managers realize that a) UCLA is a public university whose students and alumni manage their money well, and b) these prices are way out of whack with marketplace economics? The colors are a hodgepodge of different blues and yellows, too; there is no consistency. There are Hello Kitties, Spider-Men, and other things that have NOTHING to do with UCLA. Whoever runs this store knows nothing about how to build and defend a brand. Bring the prices down by 30-50%, clear up the color palette, focus on UCLA, and you'll sell a lot more merchandise, guys. read more

Seriously, order a book online and expect a notification for"ready to pick-up," but that's where the disappointment starts. I didn't get a notification so I had to call after waiting for it to be delivered at the store, but it was there the whole time instead of being "shipped". There's two Ucla textbook pick-ups but online won't tell you which one, so good luck with that. Go in and one staff says to wait in line for them to talk to you about your pick up order only for them to say it's the next line in the other room, go to that line, and it's the line behind the cashiers at the back of the store in the top floor. Cashiers and online just seem irresponsible and make it harder for you so it's easier for them. They should send an email when orders are ready to pick-up, and those emails should say," ready to pick-up." More importantly where to pick-up. Seriously make signs for students to go to the right area instead of cashiers beings misleading. Hell nah read more

i've been to my fair share of college bookstores, and UCLA seriously has one of the best ones. never mind that i am a student/alum, we really have everything you can imagine. it's independently owned so the student association actually benefits from all the sales. so next time you see new capital development in ackerman, thank the customers of the ucla store for supporting all these neat programs. because we all know UCLA needs a brand new gaming center from store profits. but i digress from the store... ucla sweaters? check ucla sweatpants? check ucla flip-flops? check ucla cutting board? check ucla luggage tags? check how to get into ucla book? check looks like joe/sephine bruin threw up all things bruin here. if you need something blue/gold in your wardrobe (hell, for your house) hit up the UCLA store. best of all, they have outdoor sales about every week or so. read more

They have a terrific collection of children's educational books--that is the only reason I stop by. I get all of my textbooks at Amazon.
