I needed help moving boxes and furniture from my POD up to my third floor apartment. After looking around, UF Mover Guys gave me the best quote. The movers showed up a few minutes later because the GPS took them to the wrong address, but they did call me to let me know. Once they arrived they took a look at what they needed to move and got started. They were careful with all of my stuff and set up some of the things that I could not do myself. They were able to move everything in under an hour and a half. They were very friendly and didn't complain once about the third floor move in the July heat. My experience with UF Mover Guys was highly disappointing. Everything started off well - one of the managers showed up to my house to give me an estimate for the move from Florida to Michigan after seeing what furniture I had in person. The original plan was for the company to help me with loading, transporting, and unloading the furniture. They gave me an estimate, and though expensive, I decided to proceed with the plan due to its convenience. A week before the move date, I had not heard from anyone from the company, so I called several times to get an estimate of the time the movers would show up to my house. The manager kept telling me he would call me back, and then THREE DAYS before the move, he told me that the original plan fell through, and that he could no longer transport my furniture to Michigan. He told me he had an alternate plan that may save me some money, but I was really disturbed that this change was not conveyed to me earlier. Had I known in advance that this would be the case, I would have found other movers immediately. I had no other choice since this was only 3 days before my scheduled move, so I followed his instructions. The company sent movers to load my furniture in a trailer sent by a freight company (that I had to reserve). The freight company then charged me for transporting the furniture to Michigan, and I had to later call to have other movers unload my furniture at my new apartment in Michigan. The movers in Gainesville showed up without any kind of blankets or furniture pads (which I had previously been told would be used), and they loaded all my items in the trailer with barely any protection. To my dismay, nearly ALL my furniture arrived at the new location with some kind of damage. Most were scratches on the wood furniture (coffee table, dining table and chairs, bookshelf, accent chairs), but some were more drastic. One of my canvas paintings was ripped, and one of my bedroom dressers was cracked in half. When I tried to contact the company to see if any compensation could be provided, no one responded to my message. This was the most disappointing moving experience I've had. Not only was the company completely unprofessional in notifying me so late of any changes to the initial reservation, but they did a terrible job loading my furniture without ANY protection and completely ignored my attempts to contact them afterward. I used UF Mover Guys last week, mostly due to all of the amazing, glowing reviews on Google reviews. I expected everything to go smoothly - not so. My move was scheduled for 11 a.m. - I called both phone numbers I had at 11:15, no answer, left both messages. Someone got back to me around 11:30 and said my move was on the books for 3 p.m. and there was a scheduling error. He said he'd get 2 guys out asap. I waited and waited. He said they were coming from across town (Gainesville isn't that big, across town isn't really that far??). Then he said it would be around an hour later. They arrived after 1 p.m., two hours after my scheduled move (and there were multiple emails confirming the date and time). I expected some type of accommodation for the TWO hour delay due to their error, but there was none. (Even waiving part of the exorbitant truck fee would have been acceptable. Or allowing a 1-hr minimum instead of two.) There was no accommodation. I paid full price. An apology doesn't mean that much if you're making your customer wait two hours due to your own error. The two guys who actually did the move were great and fast - finished in about an hour (but there's a two hour minimum). The scheduling error wasn't their fault so I don't fault the actual movers, just the logistical people behind the scenes. I will not use this company again and am used to a MUCH higher level of customer service. Also, the price is ridiculous - movers in the D.C. area are a lot cheap (and provide a higher level of customer service). read more

Called them for a move from Gainesville to Texas. The owner was great and explained a lot of options and pricing. Lots of great tips like getting a Penske truck instead of a Uhaul. That alone saved me what it cost to have them pack us. I ultimately hired them to load m 26' penske truck that I was going to drive myself. I was going to have them load a van line bit the fluidity of those dates didn't work for me. They came out and gave a free estimate for time and materials that was ultimately accurate. Twice they came out and dropped of additional boxes for me. On move out day they showed up on time. The load went well and without issue. The loaders knew what they were doing and packed the truck intelligently. I did have one or two things break, but when you load that much stuff and drive is 20 hours in a bumpy truck, I believe that is to be expected. All in all they were solid dudes and pleasant to work with. read more

We did not have a great experience with our move when we used UF Mover Guys to load our truck (regrets for not using all the other suggestions). Their packing job resulted in 3k+ damage (highly unlikely due to shift after reviewing the photos). We were very disheartened with their first two responses but were pleased that we finally got to speak with one of the owners - wish that was our first correspondence. We agreed that regardless of likely needing more blankets (we still had several and bags for our items), there is no excuse for putting large dressers on couches and mattresses, removing blankets that I had wrapped the top of the dining room table in and putting it on the bottom of the truck, putting a metal filing cabinet and large tool cabinet on top of a small plastic container, or throwing chairs on top of of boxes labeled "fragile." read more

I had an excellent experience using UF Mover Guys for my move. The two movers that handled my move were very professional, friendly, and patient. They also seemed to go above and beyond what I could have expected from them. They protected my 91 year old grandmother's furniture in a way that absolutely guaranteed that her precious furniture (which will ultimately become family heirlooms) would not be damaged in the slightest way during the move. I've never tipped movers before and so I had to Google how you should tip a mover (lol) and ended up tipping each of them what I considered the maximum amount for the move ($40 cash each). They at no point asked for a tip or made it seem like they expected one -- I was just happy to tip them because they did such a great job. My daughter was moving from one apt to another right across the street, we thought we could handle it walking up 3 flights of stairs but we were wrong. We called around to find same day movers at beginning of Aug and had no luck until we called UF Mover Guys and they said they would be out in about 2 hours. They were smart and strong and personable guys who worked quickly and could understand directions well. They arrived on time for two days to unload my container. (I only used them for arrival at my new home.) My only complaint is that the estimated time and cost were way off. This should not be a problem if the owner comes out to actually see your place ahead of time, which I think is their usual practice. They are not cheap but have a cash discount. I was needing help loading 2 PODS and utilized the service from UF Mover guys.I'll list the pro's and con's and let anyone else decide for themselves. Pro's - The actual mover guys were great, hardworking, and great at packing items into our pods. The main guy who sets up everything was very helpful and very attentive to my needs (called me back on the Sunday of March Madness = dedication). . He also knocked off about 20% of my total bill which brings me to the cons. The movers were 2 hours late (ran long at a prior job) which I understand happens but put a bit of a struggle in our move time, but like I said he knocked off the price. The guys didn't have a dolly or any moving equipment so it took a little longer than maybe it should've or could've. They offered to wrap a few items which was nice but after unloading our items at our destination we noticed a lot of scratches, and banged up furniture. They also put masking tape to our actual furniture which isn't good on the wood and left marks and residue. We would've preferred utilizing blankets to help pad things down like previous movers and not had tape placed on our furniture. I gave 3 stars because we had folks unload at our destination and they were one time, had equipment, and pointed out a few of the items that are typically not done (i.e. masking tape on items, and padding with blankets). In any case if you need help I'd give them a ring just be extra cautious on valuable furniture items and wrap yourself. read more

In a word--AWFUL. As I sat waiting for the guys to show at the 9 a.m. appointment time to unload my moving truck, they were no where to be found. I called at 9:25 and was informed my appointment had been cancelled. I had not cancelled it and no one there could explain what happened. Then the 'boss' got on the phone and declared he didn't like my attitude and lack of respect for him due to the fact he had been doing this for several years...and that he wasn't going to send anyone to unload my moving truck. In spite of the incredible anger and frustration I felt at the time in talking with this person, I did control my temper. I didn't say any of the things I wanted to say.--I was so frustrated I could hardly speak. Then he said he wouldn't accept a check--had to be cash or [again] he was not coming out..."go find a bank and get cash". The office had called me the Friday before the Monday appointment and confirmed a check would be fine. He finally agreed to send someone out and a couple of hours later two guys arrived--with NO DOLLIES, NO STRAPS, NO TOOLS, NO WATER. The result was these two guys exhausted themselves which then resulted in what should have been a two-hour operation that turned into FOUR HOURS! They broke a wheeled stand for the tool box and took a big chunk out of the dining room buffet--I found it on the dining room floor. The final straw was when the guys were too tired to lift the top of the dining room buffet on top of the hutch. They called 'the boss' who told them to go to town and hire someone off the street--REALLY! I said no to that idea. The guys finally managed to finish, but it was a terrible experience all around, to say nothing of the cost! My realtor suggest ed these folks. I called him afterward and recommended he no longer use this company. read more

This last move was more complicated as we had to move out of a Gainesville apartment, into their storage, then out of storage and into an apartment in Atlanta. They were very accommodating and helpful with our moving schedule. During each segment of the move, the guys were friendly and courteous. We had a great experience with UF Mover guys. We needed a last minute second mover as the POD people underestimated our POD needs - won't use them again. UF Mover Guys were able to accommodate us quickly as we needed to vacate our home and subsequently place some belongings in a storage unit for a few weeks. All the movers were quick, efficient and friendly/polite. Ted and Kenny were great with the reload from storage and the unload on the Coast; they were timely and quick. We've used movers before that were unbelievably slow - moving one box at a time, etc., which led to quite a bit of additional charges to the original estimate. I would definitely use UF mover guys again. Much better than the loading/unloading movers recommended by the POD people. If we knew UF Movers loaded PODS, we would have used them for the entire move. We recently used Gainesville Moving to relocate to Atlanta. Right off the bat, they were friendlier and provided far less hassle than any of the larger moving companies. The owner, Robert, generally answers the phone and does what it takes to get your business. He came over to our apartment at a time of our choosing and gave us a firm maximum quote based on what we had. He was completely understanding of the fact that we still needed to hear back from a few places. We had a competing quote that was slightly lower than his and he beat it. On moving day, he showed up with several huge guys and they had the whole 2 bedroom apartment loaded up in about an hour and a half. They wrapped all the furniture and did a good job of loading the truck. Immediately after loading up, they hit the road for Atlanta and made it there just about the same time we did. They moved us into the new place and were patient and willing to move everything around to our liking. I would recommend this company over any other mover we have ever used.
